It must be true what they say about rockers mellowing with age.
Bon Jovi seems to be more of an AC artist/band lately. I remember that they were considered pretty hard rock when they started in the mid-'80s, and drew a number of young fans with their pop-metal sound all the way into the early '90s.
I think their 1st signs of mellowing out was when they released "Always" in 1994 - a big hit on both the pop and AC circuits. Seems like from that point on, they've done more ballads than rock. This "Memory" song is about as light as they've ever gotten - with possibly the exception of "Thank You for Loving Me" a few years ago.

My friend is a huge BJ fan and she mentioned that she's been able to listen to some of their new stuff somewhere on the web. She said it is quite country sounding and my friend is a bit disappointed by that. They've been in Nashville recording it for quite a while, I hear. I wasn't a big fan of Have a Nice Day or Who Says You Can't Go Home. The lyrics just don't grab me. Too slogany and formulaic for my taste. But the melodies are catchy, I have to admit. Just not a big fan of Jon's voice though. But they have so many hits that their concerts are fun, even for the casual fan. Bon Jovi was the 1st rock band to hit #1 on the country chart. They did it last year with "Who Says You Can't Go Home" - the version with Jennifer Nettles. I like the original version of "Can't Go Home" - not the country version! I really liked a lot of their '80s stuff - especially "Livin' On a Prayer" and "Never Say Goodbye".

Nearly top 10!
14 11 BON JOVI (You Want To) Make A... 2007 Mercury/IDJMG 1661 1615 46 8.228
The fact that Rob Thomas and Nelly Furtado are falling like mad has a lot to do with this up at #11, though.

Top ten, with a bullet of over 100. Can't say I expected this. Most requested song of the day at WINC today.

Bon Jovi songs (in this decade) have developed a big habit of creeping slowly up the chart and lasting a long time!! Didn't even realize this song was still rising (the no Hot AC thang in ATL)
