* www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003559779Bon Jovi Charges Down The 'Highway' On New CD"Bon Jovi will release its next album, "Lost Highway," June 19 via Island/Mercury Nashville. First single "(You Want To) Make a Memory" its radio tomorrow (March 20); the group will perform it live April 16 during the CMT Awards in Nashville, May 2 on "American Idol" and June 19 on NBC's "Today."
Two other album cuts have already been utilized in TV and film; the title song is featured in the trailer for the John Travolta comedy "Wild Hogs," while "We Got It Going" featuring Big & Rich serves as the theme for ESPN's coverage of the Arena Football League.
The Dann Huff- and John Shanks-produced "Lost Highway" is the follow-up to 2005's "Have a Nice Day," which has sold 1.4 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The album's single, "Who Says You Can't Go Home" featuring Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland, hit No. 1 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, the first time in almost 30 years that a top billed non-country artist has reached No. 1 with their first attempt at the country chart. It hadn't happened since pop crooner Tom Jones did so with "Say You'll Stay Until Tomorrow" in 1977.
Bon Jovi has yet to announce tour plans; the group finished 2006 with the No. 3 tour according to Billboard Boxscore, grossing $131 million."* * That certainly came like a bolt out of the blue! The title actually sounds kind of country-ish. We'll have to see if they'll continue to go where "Who Says You Can't Go Home" left off, as a great opportunity certainly opened for them the previous era. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

No wonder they'll be appearing on American Idol.
I didn't like their last record and think they've long passed their prime. I won't be surprise if they go Country because it might be the only format that has any life for them.

I won't be surprise if they go Country because it might be the only format that has any life for them. They did immensely well at Hot AC during the "Have A Nice Day" era too, picking up back-to-back Top 10 hits there (during the preceding era "Bounce", all their singles failed to make the Top 10 there) "Have A Nice Day" was a strong-seller, almost tripling up on the sales for "Bounce" and coming close to "Crush". So I think Bon Jovi still have immense life in them even when my favorite eras of theirs were "Slippery When Wet" and "These Days", especially in that they remain one of the most popular touring bands worldwide. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

My friend is a huge BJ fan and she mentioned that she's been able to listen to some of their new stuff somewhere on the web. She said it is quite country sounding and my friend is a bit disappointed by that. They've been in Nashville recording it for quite a while, I hear. I wasn't a big fan of Have a Nice Day or Who Says You Can't Go Home. The lyrics just don't grab me. Too slogany and formulaic for my taste. But the melodies are catchy, I have to admit. Just not a big fan of Jon's voice though. But they have so many hits that their concerts are fun, even for the casual fan.

The guy that co-wrote 'Jesus Take The Wheel' (who's from Nova Scotia) has collaborated with them on lyrics for a few songs as well. He writes music in Nashville.

As I already have expressed in the Country thread for this single, I have given this a thumbs-down review.
One of their worst singles to date. It lacks a strong hook, but moreover as a ballad lacks the heart of previous ballads like "Never Say Goodbye" or "Lie To Me".
I think this is a big mistake for a lead-single release, and will flop here in terms of airplay. However, name recognition alone on iTunes will hype this onto the Billboard Hot 100.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Please, Bon Jovi, don't make this another song about your life.
Please.

Bon Jovi are one of my favorite bands EVA! Though I do think they've had better. Hopefully this grows on me.

This is doing well on this format. I really like it. This and "Hey there Delilah" provide some balance with the faster songs like "First Time" and "Makes me Wonder" that are also currently rising here.

I really really don't like this song. Well, it's not horrible but I dread hearing it on the radio and C100 plays it so much. I really did like 'Who Says You Can't Go Home' but this song does nothing for me. I hope their second single is better. They usually are when it comes to Bon Jovi.

This is in good rotation now here in Chicago... Well, if WTMX is still playing it, I haven't heard it in awhile. If they are playing it, it probably has been relgated to overnight hours only!

Some of the songs aren't great, but the band is a legend..to me, on the same level as U2, but not quite as strong. I have yet to see BJ in concert, but they are one band I have always wanted to see live..no matter how bad they may be.

He says Jon has ruined his voice, once again, from smoking too much. He said Jon used to have a great voice, now he said it's turned into a 'gravely-sounding piece of ****'

This is so slow and boring. :( I could tolerate Who Says You Can't Go Home, but it'll take too much effort for me to enjoy this.

JBJ is such a pussy these days! Remember when Bon Jovi actually used to rock? Hell, I'd even take "It's My Life" and "It's My Life Part 2 (Have A Nice Day)" over this, and I hated those tracks!

Maybe the ONE thing that sums up this, and almost any thread about a specific song is this: It's all about personal taste. We all like something different. A song that 'sucks' to you, may not suck to the next person. Just'a thought :)
I've been a BJ fan all my life, and this is NOT one of their best songs, however, they are a band that isn't young anymore, they're not always going to put out A+ music..and even I realize that. But hey..let BJ give some of those younger groups/artists a run for their money, however they do it. Because honestly, to ME, BJ will never die!
