"Chasing Cars" really should be the #1 song so far, since it got so much additional airplay on Hot AC (5-6 months worth) in 2006 - wish Mediabase would accumulate previous year's points onto this year's points to give us accurate info of which song was actually played the most - for the same reason "Waiting On The World To Change" and "Boston" should be ranked much higher, taking 2006 airplay into consideration

You know, I like how he compiles the year end data, that is, a song only makes the year end chart once. The three big songs that split equal time between last year and this year ("How To Save A Life", "Waiting On The World To Change" and "Chasing Cars") have accumulated more points by far then any other song currently on the chart. Therefore, his system allows these types of songs the chance to finish at the top of the chart, whereas if one compiled points from the beginning of the year to the end, songs like those would never have a chance to finish at the top. My only difference with how he compiles these charts is that he assigns songs to the year that they peak, thus meaning that it takes sometimes six to eight months after the year ends for the final chart of the previous year to be completed. I'd prefer (and I know atlantaboy would like this :) ) that a song gets assigned to the chart corresponding to the end of their chart run. Therefore, those aforementioned songs would all be assigned to this year's chart, and each year end chart would be completed by the last day of that year, not in July or August of the following year. Otherwise, he uses a good system, and even recently posted charts that dumped the recurrent rule. Fewer songs chart this way, but it is a much more accurate measure of the true chart life of a song. And it's a great website as well!
