OMG. I had a feeling that was going to happen...how in the heck does "Bubbly" not only stay on the chart, but one week later become one of the biggest jumpers after being at the bottom? Man, at this rate songs like "Feels Like Tonight", "Whatever It Takes" and "It's Not My Time" (notice the irony with that title) could very well be the first ones to leave before "Bubbly" does. And look at where "Paralyzer" and "Love Song" are still charting with 75+ weeks each on their record. Unbelievable.

It's almost like my station's countdown and "Disturbia"...seems like they don't want to get rid of it. It's fallen down a few places, moved back up a spot or two over several weeks, fell back to the bottom and remained in the same spot for yet another week. Hopefully, it should leave the chart next weekend in time for the start of March - that song's been there since the end of last July!

On the other hand, nice to see several new entries and it looks like they're more quick in getting breakout tracks to enter the chart. Nice entry for "1,2,3,4".

Potential breakouts:
Katy Perry - Thinking Of You
Thriving Ivory - Angels on the Moon (why this song has not already been featured as a breakout is beyond me and it's already been on Rick Dees' WT40 for a while now)
The Veronicas - Untouched
Buckcherry - Don't Go Away
Natasha Bedingfield - Soulmate

I'm thinking more likely it will be the first two.

thankyou for posting the chart. Maybe "You and Me" will get some competition after all for the longest reign in AT40 history, Bubbly is 15 weeks away, Paralyzer 16 and Love Song 20. At the very least, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th longest reigns will be current songs soon (Love Song is only 3 weeks away from matching Over My Head, Paralyzer passes it this week). This shows how some stations are holding on to hits even longer now than before.

I have posted previously that I think Rick Dees keeps his chart fresher and the songs move faster. However, since his chart has to be pretty much something he manufactures every week, the AT 40 chart, as slow as it is, is the more accurate chart. And as you said eric, it only shows how more stations are keeping recurrents on longer.

There seems to be two types of Hot AC stations, those who are very recurrent heavy and those who are very progressive in adding new music and almost CHR like. But both hang on to the same recurrents even though some stations reduce them significantly. But when you have almost 90 or 100 stations playing the same recurrents for weeks on end, this is the type of chart you end up with since most recurrents get more plays than many new songs which are only played on a small sampling of stations at first. But the beauty of the AT 40 chart is that it accurately reflects this, even though the chart can get very slow at times.

One other factor that leads me to believe that Rick just makes things up is reflected in the following question: When was the last time a song debuted at #40 on his chart? Not for at least a year and a half I believe!

It would be interesting if anyone knows for sure how Rick's chart is compiled. Like I said, it sure seems like he just "fakes" it each week based on other charts, but I'm not 100% sure.

Very nice selections as breakouts! Although I was thinking that would be perhaps next weekend and not this one coming up. But heck, I'm not complaining. Those are two very great songs and to see them do well in Hot AC would be great, especially Natasha Bedingfield's latest.

I'm assuming then that Katy Perry ("Thinking of You") will be one of the breakouts next weekend if at least The Veronicas or Natasha Bedingfield enter the chart by then. If both somehow get on the chart, then the breakout could be a toss-up between Thriving Ivory, Buckcherry and Lily Allen.
