While this isn't an official physical single release, it is now a Top 10 hit at their signature Adult Alternative format, so I believe it deserves its own thread here.
This is one of my personal favorites from not just "Saturday Nights and Sunday Mornings", but perhaps, in my opinion, one of the band's best songs in a decade. I actually went and started a Wikipedia page all about the track last night! ;)
While I'm disappointed nothing from the "Saturday Nights" half of the album has been released to radio ("Los Angeles", musically, is actually quite mainstream friendly and no louder than the first two airplay singles from this era were, and would have made a fine single) I'm nonetheless delighted this is getting many spins on Triple A.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I even think "Hanging Tree", despite having both edgy guitars and lyrics, is quite melodic and would have made a good single for their core format. It probably has the catchiest chorus among any track on the album.
The only "Saturday Nights" tracks that would never have worked as single releases are "1492" and "Cowboys".
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Sincerely, Noah Eaton This certainly is one of the most gorgeous songs Duritz & Co. have ever recorded, far surpassing anything from the Hard Candy era (though Richard Manuel and Miami were great moments on that record). I'm thrilled to see it succeeding at Triple A, and I'll echo what I said when the album came out...this era will solidify CC as a Triple A only band, as I see their time at Hot AC (and Alt., for that matter) having come to a close. CC crafted some very accessible tunes on Saturday Nights & Sunday Mornings, and I feel that the album easily could have gone one or two more singles deep if properly promoted. At any rate, I hope we don't have to wait another 6 years for new material

I think 1492 would've made an excellent single. It was that same fast, wild feel that drove "Angels Of the Silences." I think outside of "When I Dream Of Michaelangelo," it's the best song on the album.
