Wow. I didn't realize Death Cab had become the kind of artist where AAA would jump on them like this, especially given that there was no significant break between the single from The Open Door and this.

^Yeah actually think Death Cab's a core artist now for a lot of AAA stations, esp. ones that target younger demos (Heard stations usin them in their on-air promos)

^Yeah actually think Death Cab's a core artist now for a lot of AAA stations, esp. ones that target younger demos (Heard stations usin them in their on-air promos) Agreed. Some may argue that's not exactly the case because "Cath..." struggled on this format, yet.........to me anyway......."Cath..." was overall too heavy for the format (on the surface it doesn't sound overly heavy especially with the soft latter half of the second verse, but at its core it is unmistakably quite a heavy song) to begin with with particularly dark imagery ranging from hearts dying fast to holding a smile like someone would hold ones crying child.............while charting in the Top 10 at Alternative where more intense subject matter registers better. Musically, "Grapevine Fires" was never serviced to Adult Alternative, which in that respect is surprising, yet the more I think about it, "Grapevine Fires" at its core is just as dark and heavy as "Cath..." with all the death-centric imagery from skies impending doom to believing it was only a matter of time before everyone burned. So that may be why the format dodged the single entirely and instead went with "No Sunlight", which is a song bursting with cynicism and lost wonder, yet is one of their most melodic offerings and can't help but feel sunny still to the listener, as opposed to both "Cath..." and "Grapevine Fires", where upon each listen you KNOW something is unsettling here. Sincerely, Noah Eaton
