I'm only starting this thread due to the fact that this piece of dreck is getting played on WTMX in Chicago! There is a version that consists only of Alicia Keys singing, but the version being played on the Mix contains the rap portion by Jay-Z. While being played mainly overnight, why this song is anywhere near any Hot AC station is pretty disturbing to say the least! >:( Let's hope this song dies a quick death!

To me, this seems like the kind of rap track that would appeal to adults...

Yea. I know a lot of adults who like it. My mom is 49, listens to Hot AC and AC and she loves it.

To me, this seems like the kind of rap track that would appeal to adults... I would agree for a song like "Meet Me Halfway" by the Black Eyed Peas. But surprisingly, that song had a very mediocre showing on the Hot AC chart outside of the usual contigent of CHR leaning Hot AC's like WTMX where it is a major hit there. I would gladly take "Meet Me Halfway" over ESOM anyday. But I don't think ESOM is going to be a major Hot AC hit either, but you never know.

Yea. I know a lot of adults who like it. My mom is 49, listens to Hot AC and AC and she loves it. As a rap song, it's a surprisingly mature sound. Nothing too much about money and hos, but more about living life and loving where you are... a message that can be held by almost any listener. If any Jay-Z song were to take off on the format, it would be this one. And even though I know it's like comparing apples to oranges, "Empire State Of Mind" just went top 15 on Canadian HotAC.

That's how I feel about "Meet Me Halfway" minus the lyrics. That song has a mature sound and an adult appeal as well. That's why I was surprised that song died a quick death on Hot AC (minus one of my hometown Hot AC stations in Chicago and a few others), especially considering the popularity of Black Eyed Peas in that format. As far as this Jay-Z/Alicia Keys song is concerned, in all fairness I will give it a few more listens before I decide if I really like this or not.

If there was ever a rap song that could fit here, it's this one.
