Unofficial Mediabase 2009 Hot AC top 100 chart

While we await the release of the official Mediabase year-end Hot AC chart, I went onto Mediabase and compiled this unofficial year-end chart based on airplay from December of 2008 through the end of November of 2009. Similar to the Billboard Hot AC chart previously posted, I went through the current list and removed all of the recurrent songs that peaked last year, which took me all the way down to #180 on the list!

While the official Mediabase chart may choose to leave some of these songs on, I removed all of the songs that peaked before December of 2008, at least to the best of my knowledge.

So until the official charts are released, this should tide everyone over for now. :)

One thing all of these year-end charts agree with on is the #1 song. And from my own calculations, it's not even close. So of course Rick Dees will have "Gives You Hell" as #1.

I don't get this board's love for Thriving Ivory. I mean, they're ok, but phenomenal? That's a bit of a stretch. In ten years they'll be about as relevant as Mulberry Lane is now.

Ha, I remember Mulberry Lane! They were that all female country group that tried to break through into pop but couldn't do it. Yeah, where are they now?!

As far as the love for Thriving Ivory, I think that's mainly coming from one particular poster here who enjoys their music quite a bit. And hey, great that there is such a liking from some people for an act that is not Nickelback or Daughtry for a change!

Yeah, "Harmless" was a, uh, harmless little song by Mulberry Lane that made the CHR top 40 and also reached AC (I imagine it would have reached the Top 40 HAC as well, but it only went to 30 spaces at the time). I think with that sound and the right promotion they could have had another hit or two, but instead somebody must have told them that the Britney/Destiny's Child sound was the right way to go.

Hence, they later released a song entitled "Yo Yo", which was absolutely horrible (I'm looking for a good metaphor here, but I can't). Apparently anyone else who heard that felt the same way, because the group wasn't heard from again afterwards (although I think I'll wiki them to see what really happened).

Yeah, I remember they had a nice country sound until some misguided record producer told them to go the Britney route. In addition to that awful music, those same producers had them "tart" up their image as well. That pretty much killed their career. And that goes to show that racier and more pop sounding does not work for everyone no matter how popular that type of genre may be.

Hopefully they went "independent" and released the type of music they enjoy making. A lot of musical acts have gone that route and have gone on to pretty decent careers after dealing with the nightmares of working with the big record companies.

Are you talking about me, LOL? And barf @ even including Thriving Ivory in the same paragraph with Sh*telback or Shartry. But yes, Thriving Ivory's music is ecstasy. I cannot wait for their sophomore CD.
