American Top 40 (Hot AC) - October 10-11, 2009

Quite a weird chart this week as many recurrents that fell in recent weeks rebound by several positions. Among the crop: "Sober", "Not Meant to Be", "Shattered", and "My Life Would Suck Without You". Also, a return to the Top 20 for "I'm Yours".

It didn't take long for Miley Cyrus to return to the chart as last week's breakout "Party In The USA" is the only new entry.

We also see some huge movers in both directions as "Hey, Soul Sister" moves up 11 spots while "She Is Love" takes a massive drop of 16 spots, probably one of the biggest so far this year. Also, "New Divide" has a rebound moving up 7 ranks while "Staring Down" goes the other way, descending by 10.

Not surprising to see Rob Thomas have this week's breakout as "Someday" is already impacting the format.

They probably reshuffled their panel. Or maybe not.

The largest drop I remember on this chart was from Jewel, when "Again And Again" fell 14 to 37 in 2006.

Like CHR, the Hot AC panel also saw the addition of several stations, so many songs that had weak updates early this week saw their spin counts increase significantly.

These changes may not be reflected on this weekend's chart, but judging by how ridiculous this weekend's chart looks, it will be interesting to see how the panel changes will have an effect in the next couple of weeks.

I thought there was some new stations added as a good majority of the songs on the Mediabase Hot AC chart have huge bullets this week.

As far as the weird AT40 chart this week, I think that is just par for the course!
