When was the last time a female was #1 on HAC for such a big stretch? It started, I think, when Raise Your Glass went #1. Then Katy took over with Firework, then Pink again with Perfect, and now Adele. I know it's not uncommon for women to hit #1 on HAC, but it's been such a male dominated chart (whether solo or bands) for the past few years.

Not sure of the answer, but it looks like the trend could continue. I doubt that The Script (#3) will make it to #1, and the next candidate after them is "E.T.", so Katy Perry could very likely take over after Adele.

I've updated the Hot AC #1s thread so you can make comparisons.
One example: If you count just the lead singer being a female, then the longest stretch is probably May 2002-April 2003, but that counts Michelle Branch's appearance on Santana's song.
Using just solo females: End of August 2007-mid February 2008, or about 25 weeks. We're getting close to that now.

^How many different #1s were there in those timeframes though? If Katy gets it with E.T., then that would be 5 different songs. (unless there was a female at #1 before RYG)

Looks like Bruno Mars could end the female streak. The last male to be at #1 was Bruno Mars with Just The Way You Are on the 12/12/10 chart.

"The Lazy Song" will die before "Rolling In the Deep" gives up it's top spot. Honestly I think the next #1 could be "The Edge of Glory" or "Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall".

Agreed, Lazy Song will not hit #1, do think it will be Edge of Glory into the Autumn. By then it could be someone with a new album such as John Mayer, Matchbox Twenty, Shinedown, or whatever. Every Teardrop should be a Top 3.

Damn. I think you're right. Could we really have an entire year with no male acts? I know we still have 5ish months to go, but...

I think "Good Life" will go number 1.

I think "Good Life" will go number 1. That's the most well-thought out, unbiased statement ever made within this forum.

I think "Good Life" will go number 1. That's the most well-thought out, unbiased statement ever made within this forum. Not sure what the sarcasm is for. Good Life still has a decent bullet and is highly likely to go at least number 2 (since RITD is falling quickly)... For number 1, GL needs to maintain positive updates a bit longer than Lazy Song while also having Edge of Glory lose momentum as it has done on pop. Will it happen? Certainly not a lock, but I think so.
