I wouldn't call it embarrasing, but it's not a song that belongs on hot AC.

If I did add this one, it'd mainly only play on overnights, because I live in a pretty religious community and a lot of the businesses that play us in their stores will definitely react negatively to hearing Eminem during the daytime, regardless of how toned down this one may be. But I think if I add ANY rap at all in the near future it'll be "Airplanes" (not crazy about that one either).

If I were a PD, I'd simply play a version that didn't have Eminem. Kind of like how there was a a version of "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" without Eve. Or if there wasn't, there should have been. That wouldn't be much of a version. It would just be Rihanna repeating the same verse over and over again. Perhaps a completely reworked version for Hot AC/AC radio similar to the all Alicia Keys version of "Empire State of Mind" would need to be considered. But there are enough Hot AC stations playing the original verson of LTWYL that could very well put this into the top 30 at the very least.

Just remember... Eminem is 37. Chew on that for a second. Remember the age of the Hot AC audience, many of which no doubt enjoyed "The Real Slim Shady" a decade ago.
In fact, most artists with any degree of success whose careers span a decade or longer are inevitably going to drift in the AC direction.

If AC now means rap music that has a slightly more adult fit, then yes, I guess this is the "new" sound of AC. But many people listen to this format to get away from this type of music, even if they grew up and enjoyed this type of music a decade ago. Not everyone who enjoyed the Real Slim Shady then likes it now. That's why you still need the "no rap, no hard rock" type of stations for those who outgrow this. BTW Tim, you must now be into Dos Equis judging by your new screen name! I love their ad campaign!

It's actually been my screename on this baseball website I frequent. And I thought it best not to use my actual name here! BTW, I do agree with your general point r/ Eminem - but the fact that his (and others of his ilk) music is being played on more and more formats is one of the eventualities we just have to deal with, whether we like it or not.

Only 16 outta 100 HAC stations are playin this (and it's already #1 on CHR) so really don't think it's a case of Eminem fitting in with Hot AC - prob. more a case of misclassified stations Wow at Eminem bein 37 though

Yeah, I guess that's the new reality in this day and age. I still don't agree with it, but I guess they are giving people what they want to hear, at least some amongst the Hot AC core listener group.

Q104 has become very top 40 leaning in recent years hasn't it? Yes, along with WKRQ which never should have been classified as a Hot AC in the first place, and WTMX which only recently has begun to really slant towards CHR. I hope there still exists a format in a few years where people can listen to contemporary music without the rap, even if it's within the mainstream AC format.
