For almost 2 weeks now, I've been encountering this in the Hot AC Taking Off chart.
Today:
EMINEM Love The Way You Lie f/Rihanna 2 15
Has a total of at least 58 Hot AC spins so far.

I guess if there was ever to be a rap song on the Hot AC chart this would be it. It's to the point now where any song that hits top 10 CHR will chart on Hot AC regardless of what it is.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if this goes Top 15, actually.
This is by far one of Eminem's most straight-forward and emotionally accessible tracks, and also is among one of few Eminem songs to not be swamped with radio edits (there really isn't a lot of profanity in this particular track)
I think a chart run similar to Lady Gaga's two most recent singles is likely.

Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus Well, I don't. Granted it is an emotionally deep track by Eminem, with an admittedly addictive hook. However, I still don't think one would think Hot AC with this song. Plus it's downright depressing when you come right down to it, and something so dark where one would not hear a song like this on most Hot AC stations. Nonetheless, I do agree this might become Eminem's first top 40 Hot AC hit, but not much higher even with Rihanna on it. I think you have to draw the line somewhere, and this is it.

This is gonna peak too fast on Pop to have a decent charting at Hot AC. It'll miss the top 20, not sure about the top 30. Perhaps it'll have a run similar to B.O.B's recent chartings.

I don't understand why people like this song so much. I am tired of Eminem yelling, so will Hot AC listeners. I do feel that this will make Top 30, but whoever mentioned that it will peak too fast on POP has got it right. It's very hot right now, but I see it falling as quickly as it climbed.

How many rap/hip hop songs have been on the Hot Ac chart?

How many rap/hip hop songs have been on the Hot Ac chart? A few too many. I've gotta say that the rap songs that have charted this year, sans "Break Your Heart", have been pretty acceptable. B.O.B. is a good addition here, as his songs have a nice appeal to the adult audience. This, as Lisping Hisbicus said, is one of the only tracks by Eminem that is emotionally connected. Aside from the swearing every 20 seconds and Em's unbearable shouting, this song is also very fit for here. Rihanna's vocal is enticing, which helps. I doubt, however, that this song will do anything here. It's Eminem, and with the track record he's established, I doubt Hot AC will touch him.

Stan could sorta fit sorta on Hot Ac. Didn't "I Will Be Missing You" chart the Diddy song chart on AC?

Wasn't Gold Digger by Kayne West a big hit on this chart as well?

Kanye has not charted solo in the Hot AC top 40. He was featured on Estelle's "American Boy" in 2008.

Eminem has never reached the top 40 of Mediabase's Hot AC chart [thank goodness]. Perhaps he made it on BDS. He might soon though. WTMX is now spinning this! Time to make a switch to bright AC WCFS? It sure looks that way! Fresh 105.9 is what Hot AC should be even though they call themselves mainstream AC.

This song seems to have a huge amount of crossover appeal and I wouldn't be surprised if it became a HAC hit. Even my mom likes this song!
I certainly like this a hell of a lot more than "I Gotta Feeling" and I heard that all the time.

I certainly like this a hell of a lot more than "I Gotta Feeling" and I heard that all the time. It hits home on an emotional level (even being quite dark lyrically) and is a departure from Eminem's usual gritty stream-of-consciousness mode of lyricism with it being much tighter, accessible and light on profanity............and it is for those two reasons in particular why I think some will be surprised at how high this single peaks on this format that surely isn't known for embracing Rhythmic or Urban cuts. There are singles that have had modest success on this format before that I think were more or less rap-leaning. "Start the Commotion" by the Wiseguys is one that immediately comes to mind, which it makes sense why it performed well given its melodic sheen, but has unmistakably rap-esque vocals. Many Hot AC stations also played the original version of "Hey Baby" or "Crazy In Love" and other hits that featured rap or dancehall vocalists. I may be stretching it by suggesting it'll scrape the Top 15, but I do think it'll peak significantly high for a single of its genre. Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus

Well I would be very surprised if this song peaks much above #30 considering this guy's background, but as usual, time will certainly tell.

I think there are a number of stations that actually use taglines like "Today's Hits Without The Rap" so I can't see where they would ever play this song. So that's probably what will hold it back from peaking too high.

Namaste, Lisping Hibiscus I agree that this is not the first time rap has been played or even embraced on this format. Linkin Park had several big hits in the mid 00's that did very well, and even Mat Kearney got into the act with "Undeniable" a few years back. I'm just concerned with this song especially considering Eminem's thugish personality in his music clashing with a lot of the core sound of the format. Plus as stated before, his type of rap is a lot more urban sounding than the rap that does get embraced here, and too much of that will just make the Hot AC format sound indistinguishable from the CHR format if this keeps up. But I guess this is why they don't pay me the big bucks to program these type of stations!

So that's probably what will hold it back from peaking too high. Well the ones that don't use this, like WTMX and WKRQ will certainly be playing this a lot. There will probably be enough of these type of "fringe" CHR stations that will put this song into at least the top 40 of this format.

If I were a PD, I'd simply play a version that didn't have Eminem. Kind of like how there was a a version of "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" without Eve. Or if there wasn't, there should have been.
