This #3 UK hit from the summer of 2011 is making its way to the U.S. shores. It goes for AAA adds on 2/27.

I could see this being the "Rolling In The Deep" of 2012.

Correct me if I'm wrong: - She's poor, so she makes money through prostitution
- Instead of spending that money wisely, she buys drugs
- ...which she then overdoses on, killing her
??? Not exactly a cheery song, but I like it.

I've seen a few entries online where some people believe the song's supposed to be loosely based on a series of murders (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipswich_serial_murders) which occurred in the fall of 2006. Dark material, but I'm not sure how much the average listener is going to read into it. Great song, however. I do hope it's a big crossover smash, though I potentially see him being a one-hit wonder here.

I think the slight ambiguity and dark tone could help fuel the song's success in the US. I would be shocked if "You Need Me, I Don't Need You" was a follow up hit though, so I agree about the one hit wonder potential.

The should def skip You Need Me and go straight for Lego House as the follow up if this does well. Lego House could be massive here.

So, I found out earlier tonight (thanks to Bob Lefsetz and his email letter) that Ed also sung "You Need Me, I Don't Need You..."
My question is...did that get used in something over here in the States last year sometime? I've definitely heard it before, but have no idea why. ??? EDIT: Figured it out...someone posted it on my site way back in September, actually. lol I'll leave this post anyway so others can hear the song if they haven't already--kind of a British, hip-hop version of Sara Bareilles's "Love Song" in a way.

I love this song, but if Sufjan Stevens can't break out of the indie singer/songwriter mold, I doubt Ed Sheeran will get much success here either with this track.
I'm also a little surprised that they're waiting until the end of February to service this to radio outlets... um, what are they waiting for?

I don't think Ed is at all comparable to Sufjan. Their music sounds completely different and they appeal to different demographics. This song is a lot more commercial than even "Chicago".

I dunno, when I first heard this song some time back, Sufjan came straight to mind. I think Ed kinda falls in the same category as Sufjan, Bon Iver, etc

He doesn't sound like that at all to me. If I'd compare him to anybody it would be Jason Mraz or Jack Johnson. I've seen Ed live and his fans aren't the Sufjan/Bon Iver crowd at all.

I definitely think this has potential in the US. The first time I heard it, I was shocked to learn that he's British because this sounds like the type of California song you'd expect to hear on a CW sitcom. I really like it though. Especially if a song like "Not Over You" by Gavin DeGraw can be a hit, this definitely can. With Bruno Mars and Adele paving the way for softer sounds at pop radio as well, I think this has a great shot if promoted properly.

I don't like the fact that he's withholding his songs from I-Tunes >:(

Also officially going for Hot AC adds on March 27. Damn so far away. Hope they're lining some hype up between now and then.

I am in love with this song. I actually like 'Drunk' more than LH and YNMIDNY. But if it were up to me then 'Little Bird' would somehow get released here next even though it's from his EP. I don't like the fact that he's withholding his songs from I-Tunes >:( Neither do I, and I really don't feel like buying the import. :(

I actually can't get into YNMIDNY at all. After "The A Team," I like "The City" best of his other songs. Truthfully though I get sick of all his songs after a dozen listens or so. "The A Team" is the only one that holds up. Neither do I, and I really don't feel like buying the import. :( I feel like it's situations like this that make downloading from a blog or something more than acceptable.

This is okay, but I really prefer "Lego House" by miles. I just hope this does well so that "Lego House" can get a proper release here.

Top 20 gainers at Hot AC. It should be right below the Top 50 based on its bullet.

Seven adds at Hot AC this week.
Not bad, not great. Keep in mind this already went for adds.
