June 22, 1974 was the first show in which AT40 affiliates identified themselves and that was the case for every episode through September 21. I think the idea was Casey probably wanted to display the unique affiliate jingles although not all affiliates were interested in this idea. Pete's book had an AT40 memo sent out in July requesting affiliates that have not yet sent IDs that they please do so. Among affiliates that likely chose not to have their IDs heard were WDRC (Hartford), WPGC (Washington, D.C.), and WLCY (Tampa). And I thought the September 28, 1974 AT40 episode was the last to have the AT40 affiliates identify themselves. September 28, 1974 was. The other poster was off by a week.

Guess Casey took their "magic" with him whenever he wasn't in the studio... ;)
- Gee, #38 really is special for that band this week, isn't it? ;)
- The first LDD writer wrote that she was sending a "not-so-Long Distance Dedication", but unlike the one on 8/30/80, Casey didn't introduce it as such.
- You would think that a significant move like the eighteen notches that "Up Where We Belong" jumped would get recognition as the week's Biggest Mover. And...this week, you'd be wrong! :o
- October 9, 1982 would've been John Lennon's 42nd birthday; "Imagine" was played as an Extra in his memory.
- #1 on the Album chart: American Fool by John Cougar
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Love Come Down"
- #1 on the Country chart: "Yesterday's Wine" by Merle Haggard & George Jones

My thoughts on this week's AT40: The 70's episode from October 9, 1976 that I heard this morning on WLS 94.7 FM Chicago:
* This show was from the week after the Top 40 hits of the Beatles Years special. * DID YOU KNOW: 1) John Denver didn't need a college degree at all? 2) The instrumental of "Nadia's Theme" took a route from movie theme (Bless the Beasts and the Children) to soap opera theme (The Young and the Restless) to Olympics theme? 3) ABBA has become in the 1976 year the biggest Australian act since the Beatles? 4) "A Little Bit More" by Dr. Hook is songwriter's Bobby Gosh's answer to some player he had about getting a hit song or something like that? 5) And to tie in with yet to be AT40 rival Rick Dees' "Disco Duck", disco records even with ducks are getting hotter(!)? * QUESTION LETTERS: 1) The most successful dance record in the rock era is "The Twist" by Chubby Checker which hit #1 in 1960 and 1962 (only to be succeeded 2 decades later by Los Del Rio's "Macarena"?), 2) The American group to hold the most weeks at #1 with a song was Bill Haley and the Comets with 8 weeks at #1 with "Rock Around the Clock" (This wouldn't be broken until 1992 when "End of the Road" by Boyz II Men spent 13 weeks at #1), and 3) The longest period of 1 week #1 songs was in early 1975 from "Mandy" to "Lovin' You". * Casey played a drop piece of the original Dusty Springfield "I Only Want to Be With You" to tie in with the remake done by the Bay City Rollers. * BLOOPER ALERT: Casey mentioned Perry Botkin, Jr. but not Barry DeVerizon as the artist of "Nadia's Theme". * AMONG THE KEPT INTACT RADIO STATION MENTIONS: Casey mentioned AT40 is heard on Iran National Radio in Iran (just a few years later in Iran in November 1979 the start of the 444 day hostage crisis occured!) * AND TO CONCLUDE, AN USUSAL QUOTE CASEY SAID ON THE SHOW: "Muskrat Suzy, Muskrat Sam, soon to be Mr. and Mrs. Muskrat." (Ties into the song "Muskrat Love" by Captain and Tennille).

I thought it was interesting last week that he played the album version of "Say That You Love Me". When the song debuted last time we where in 76, he played the single version. I've heard versions of songs that Casey played that were shorter than the single version. Were those edits done by AT 40?

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS ON THIS WEEK'S AT40: THE 70'S BROADCAST OF THE OCTOBER 20, 1979 EPISODE AFTER HEARING ON WLS 94.7 FM CHICAGO THIS MORNING:
* Though the show started with the second hour as for 1979 AT40 episodes, by late 1979 the famous "Shuckatoom" theme was cut back to just at the opening of the show (which was not heard since the first hour of 1979 AT40: The 70's rebroadcasts are never played and start with the second hour) * BY THE NUMBERS: The October 20, 1979 AT40 chart had 15 groups and 17 male acts on its chart. * DID YOU KNOW: 1) When the Doobie Brothers are not touring, they recide in San Jose, California? 2) Bob Dylan received his HONORARY DOCTORS DECREE after he dropped out of college? 3) Michael Johnson was a member of the Chad Michael Trio (which even included a pre fame John Denver as a member)? 4) France Joli once did a benefit in Fire Island, New York? 5) The song "Tusk" by Fleetwood Mac was recorded live at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and featuring the 120 Trojans of USA marching band as backup? 5) "Still" by the Commodores had a big 38 to 10 leap on the chart since "Le Freak" by Chic? 6) The Knack was once artifically put together and hyped with a "KNUKE THE KNACK" kit? 7) Herb Alpert, who had the #1 instrumental on the AT40 chart for that week with "Rise", had a long famine from the Top 40 chart since 1968 when he hit #1 with "This Guy's In Love With You"? * QUESTION LETTER: The most successful American act of the 1970's are The Carpenters (And kept intact for the 1979 AT40 question letters answered is Casey Kasem's mentioning of sending the person who sent the question letter a copy of the 1979 AT40 Yearbook). * I know the 2 Long Distance Dedications and "Surf City" extra and the AT40 Archives song of "Fly Robin Fly" were kept intact, but the other AT40 Archives song "That's The Way (I Like It)" was demoted to optional extra status and WLS 94.7 FM Chicago never plays the AT40: The 70's optional extras much. * AND ODDLY: 1) A song in the AT40 countdown - "Spooky" by Atlanta Rhythm Section - would be perfect for Halloween month in October (even October 1979). 2) Casey mentioned in his spiel about Foreigner ranked best new group from music magazines including the AT40 source - Billboard - the then 2 rivals of Billboard: Cashbox and Record World (What? No Radio and Records or Gavin Report?) 3) A plug for Casey mentioning that AT40 is heard on American Forces Network was kept intact in this AT40 episode.

The lingoes are also subject to change, if you get my reasoning.
- It's an ideal week for Flint's WCRZ; their own Ready For the World are #1 this week. :)
- And while we're on the subject of their #1 song...look at all the past, present, and future #1s up there at the top! "Oh Sheila" set off a streak of five consecutive one-week #1s, meaning seven straight weeks with a different #1 song if you include the multi-week "Money For Nothing" before it and multi-week "We Built This City" after those five.
- The version of “Never” heard in this show matches the version as heard on Greatest Hits 85-95. Special thanks to mst3k1/mstgator who clarified that that's also the song's single version. :)
- “St. Elmo’s Fire (Man in Motion)” has certainly been on its own “around the world” tour this year - it was climbing the Hot 100 as an extra on 7-13, hit #1 on 9-7, and now, on the way down, it’s a LDD dedicated to the man who inspired its writing this week.
- Quite a few instances of songs being jumped over by songs that would later peak lower than them this week.
- The middle of the second hour was paced oddly: After a commercial break, #26 and #25 each had their own segments all to themselves, bumpered together. Then #25 was bumpered together with the next segment, with #24 and #23. So, all three segments were bumpered together before the next commercial break. After that is the segment with #22 and #21…and that’s the end of the hour!
- Really seems off to put the Phil Collins LDD in the third hour, yet still separated from his own countdown song in that hour. Although...with the John Parr and Kool & The Gang countdown LDDs in other hours, and Phil's duet debuting in the first hour, there's not really much of a better place to put it.
- This week also features a rare instance of a post-’83 show where the final hour starts with #11.
- No softer jingle this week, though not one of this week's jingled songs is an outright ballad, either.
- And, to cap off all the production quirks this week, we have a Top 3 final segment to boot!
- #1 on the Album chart: Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits
- #1 on the Country chart: "Meet Me in Montana" by Marie Osmond & Dan Seals
- #1 on the Soul chart: "You Are My Lady"
- #1 on the Dance chart: "Oh Sheila"

I never get tired of hearing or playing 'St. Elmo's Fire' anytime, and that certainly remains one reason why an exceptional year for top 40 radio such as 1985 remains so enjoyable for this baby-boomer.
I certainly hope that we'll be so lucky as to get one more 1985 edition of 'AT40' before this year is over.
The story behind this exquisite song, and Casey's very moving rendering of it, are certainly among the most mesmerizing and chilling moments in the history of this show from an extraordinary storyteller and his equally extraordinary research and support staff.
It's also extremely rare to hear such exceptional singles as 'St. Elmo's Fire' and 'Sunset Grill' in the same countdown, let alone back-to-back.
Top 40 radio was really exceptional back then, when songwriters and personalities ruled side-by-side.

- I'm guessing at the spelling of the psychiatric center in the first LDD.
- As you can see above, only FOUR (!) records were falling within the Top 40 this week.
- Gotta love Casey's teaser for "Master Blaster": He referenced an artist being told that if he did well enough, he might be able to earn a living...weaving baskets. He followed that up by stating: "His 35th Top 40 hit...coming up."
- Casey answered a question letter after #28 asking what non-human creatures appeared the most in Top 40 songtitles. The answer was birds, with 38. Casey also pointed out that two birds have hit #1 - and...yes!...one of those two was "Disco Duck" by Rick Dees!
- #1 on the Country chart: "I Believe in You" by Don Williams
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Funkin' For Jamaica" by Tom Browne
- #1 on the Album chart: The Game by Queen

I thought it was interesting that Casey made a mistake when announcing Anne Murray's song. He said it was the 6th song from Urban Cowboy and it beat Saturday Night Fever. When he listed all the songs from SNF, he forgot to add in "Disco Inferno" and "Boogie Shoes" when they debuted and broke the record earlier this year on the March 25, 1978 show giving SNF 7 Top 40 hits.

Casey's statement that the SNF soundtrack produced 5 top 40 singles was correct; the three singles from the Bee Gees, the Tavares version of 'More Than A Woman', and 'If I Can't Have You'.
'Disco Inferno' had been previously released as a single from the CD of the same name in 1977, and never reached the top 40.

There are 9 songs on the 1980 chart from motion pictures.
Remember when songs used to chart from movie soundtracks? It feels like it's been ages since that was the norm.

HERE ARE MY THOUGHTS ON THIS WEEK'S AT40: THE 70's BROADCAST OF THE OCTOBER 27, 1973 AT40 EPISODE AFTER HEARING IT THIS MORNING ON WLS 94.7 FM CHICAGO: * BY THE NUMBERS: 2 country artists were back to back to start off this AT40 countdown: Charlie Rich with "The Most Beautiful Girl" at #40 and "You've Never Been This Far Before" by (as Peter Griffin of Family Guy would introduce, "Ladies and gentlemen...") Conway Twitty; and there were 2 back to back songs by 2 14 year olds: 14 year old Tony DeFranco of The DeFranco Family with "Heartbeat: It's a Lovebeat" at #8 and 14 year old Marie Osmond with "Paper Roses" at #7. * DID YOU KNOW: 1) Ike and Tina Turner in their live performaces have 3 chorus girls as background vocals singers? 2) "Ecstacy" by the Ohio Players has entered AT40 3 times in 1973? 3) Joe Walsh is from Kansas City, Missouri (this was following the first of 3 kept intact AT40 1973 station mentions by Casey with the last one in the block mentioning the then AT40 affiliate in Kansas City), 4) "Jesse" by Roberta Flack was written by Janis Ian? 5) Songwriters and singers Seals and Crofts believe in some faith but never sell or mention religion in their music? 6) B.W. Stevenson went to college at Texas State University like Roy Orbinson and Pat Boone did? 7) Ringo Starr almost wished he never joined the Beatles to replace Pete Best? 8) Bob Dylan had a book called "Tarantula" that made #1 on the New York Times Best Seller book list? 9) While recovering from a sudden auto accident that nearly but didn't took his life, Stevie Wonder on hiatus from performing had to take an trip to Africa to learn about music cultures or something like that? * QUESTION LETTER: The RECORD OF THE YEAR by a female solo artist was done by Lulu with "To Sir with Love" in 1967 and Roberta Flack with "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" in 1972. * Casey played a drop piece of "Love Jones" by Brighter Side of Darkness to tie in with the Cheech and Chong novelty song "Basketball Jones". * BLOOPERS OR NOT?: 1) Casey called the 30 week and still on that Billboard chart by Kris Kristopherson "Why Me Lord" instead of "Why Me". 2) Why in a set of radio stations carrying AT40 Casey called the Washington, D.C. then AT40 station WPGC in the Nation's Capital instead of Washington, D.C." * And, yes, the 1973 AT40 shows reaired on AT40: The 70's keep intact the AT40 PREDICTS THE #1 SONG FOR NEXT WEEK segments (The previous week Casey predicted "Angie" by the Rolling Stones would remain at #1 but instead "Midnight Train to Georgia" by Gladys Knight and the Pips moved into the #1 spot, and Casey predicted this song would stay at #1 the next week.)

Re: SNF Vs. Urban Cowboy - there's been a debate on the AT40 board about that chart record. I for one am particularly upset about the "revisionist" approach to who has that record, but rather than open up that can of worms, I opted to leave all mention of it out of my notes for the show here. There are 9 songs on the 1980 chart from motion pictures. Remember when songs used to chart from movie soundtracks? It feels like it's been ages since that was the norm. Doesn't it? Casey also made note of the number of movie songs in the 10/4/80 show last year - check out that show some pages back for a look at that. 8/2/86, back on the first week of August, also had a number of movie songs as well. LDD: David Naughton "Makin' It" from Danny in Connecticut to the staff at the Nachalk Psychiatric Center where he was hospitalized a year ago for having faith in him even when he had so little in himself It's actually Natchaug Psychiatric Center from what I dug up. natchaug.org/Whoa! I wasn't even close. At first I thought it was Nawchuk or something like that...

I agree with those that said there were five top 40 hits from the album 'Saturday Night Fever'.
In addition to Disco Inferno and Boogie Shoes, there is also A Fifth of Beethoven that were reissues of songs that appeared on other albums, as well as older Bee Gees songs
Disco Inferno was the title track of a 1976 album by the Tramps Boogie Shoes appeared on the 1975 album 'KC & the Sunshine Band'
These songs became hits because of the 1977 movie but are considered reissues from other albums.

Yes, they are originally from the older albums, but I would argue that they should count as being hits from the soundtrack too. Personally, I would argue that as far as "being a hit" is concerned, neither would've been a hit if not for the movie, so really they're more "hits" from the soundtrack as opposed to "hits" from their original albums. But, at the very least, they'd be hits from both their original albums as well as from the movie soundtrack. Many songs since then have been hits from an artist's album as well as a movie soundtrack (example: Flo Rida's "Low", featured on his album Mail on Sunday and on the soundtrack to Step Up 2: The Streets, both current releases at the time the song was released), so why the special treatment here? It makes no sense. (I'm not including songs that were hits from an artist's album that go on to appear on who knows how many later soundtracks where the song in question isn't re-released.) To say that neither one was a hit from the soundtrack is like saying neither one is really from the soundtrack, when they both are.

The example you provided was albums that were BOTH current releases.
In the case of the 2 Saturday Night Fever songs, they were both from albums that had already been released and run its course in prior years.
Reissued because of the movie, but that doesn't change the fact that these songs came from an album other than Saturday Night Fever.
Side question:
Would you consider Twist and Shout by the Beatles an 80s hit from the 'Feris Beuller' s soundtrack or would you consider it a resissued hit from the 60s that became a hit again due to movie exposure?

I consider the 1986 recharting of the Beatles' "Twist and Shout" a hit again thanks to movie exposure in "Feris Bueller's Day Off" and "Back to School".

Right, but like I said...at the very least, why can't they count as being from both? "Twist and Shout", now, would be a song that became a hit twice, once in the 60s and once in the 80s. Compare that to "Boogie Shoes", which wasn't really issued as a single proper the first time around (only as a B-side), and "Disco Inferno", which did chart the first time, but whether it would really be considered a "hit"...depends on your definition of being a "hit".

Here are this weekend's upcoming shows: "AT40: The '70s" this week presents 10/31/1970. This program originally aired back in 2007. Four songs debuted this week: "I Think I Love You" - The Partridge Family (#17) "The Tears Of A Clown" - Smokey Robinson & The Miracles (#27) "Make It Easy On Yourself" - Dionne Warwick (#39) "Heaven Help Us All" - Stevie Wonder (#40) Four songs fell out of the Top 40 this week: "Closer To Home" - Grand Funk Railroad (#22) "It's A Shame" - The Spinners (#24) "Long Long Time" - Linda Ronstadt (#30) "That's Where I Went Wrong" - Poppy Family (#38) Biggest Mover: "Deeper And Deeper" - Freda Payne (#34 to #24) Biggest Dropper: "Lookin' Out My Back Door/Long As I Can See The Light" - Creedence Clearwater Revival (#19 to #36) Original extras: "Hang On Sloopy" - The McCoys "Kicks" - Paul Revere & The Raiders "Goodnight Irene" - The Weavers "Immigrant Song" - Led Zeppelin (cut from #1 album) "Hang On Sloopy" and "Kicks" will remain in the show. "Goodnight Irene" and "Immgirant Song" will be optional extras this week. The other optional extra - heard in Hour #1 - is the Jackson Five's first #1 song "I Want You Back" (coincidentally, the Jackson Five hit #1 for the last time this week). "I Want You Back" was AT40's #1 song of the year. "AT40: The '80s" this week presents 10/26/1986. Four songs debuted this week: "Hip To Be Square" - Huey Lewis & The News (#35) "To Be A Lover" - Billy Idol (#36) "Everybody Have Fun Tonight" - Wang Chung (#37) "Freedom Overspill" - Steve Winwood (#38) I won't mention droppers this week. Libra might list them in his recap. Biggest Mover: "The Way it Is" - Bruce Hornsby & The Range (#40 to #30) Biggest Dropper: "Dreamtime" - Daryl Hall (#17 to #34) Original extras: None Long Distance Dedications: "The Greatest Love Of All" - Whitney Houston "Faithfully" - Journey Premiere optional extras: "Shake You Down" - Gregory Abbott (#63) "Don't Get Me Wrong" - The Pretenders (#51) "Stand By Me" - Ben E. King (#49) "Is This Love" Survivor (#74; highest debut) What a surprise pre Halloween treat to hear the October 31, 1970 AT40 chart on the weekend before Halloween on Monday! One optional extra this AT40 show could have used instead of "I Want You Back" by the Jackson Five is the Halloween related "Monster Mash" (but we heard this song on an AT40 1973 broadcast back in July when the song was on the AT40 chart in July 1973).

I won't mention droppers this week. Libra might list them in his recap. It's no big deal, go ahead and list 'em anyway. Heck, for all we know, we might end up with a week where Casey forgets to read 'em one of these times! But, for this week... October 25, 1986 40 35 Nu Shooz - Point of No Return (28) 39 27 Van Halen - Love Walks In (22) 38 -- Steve Winwood - Freedom Overspill (20) 37 -- Wang Chung - Everybody Have Fun Tonight (2) 36 -- Billy Idol - To Be a Lover (6) 35 -- Huey Lewis & The News - Hip to Be Square (3) LDD: Whitney Houston "The Greatest Love of All" from a 14-year-old girl (she didn't give her name) in Lock Haven, PA to the teenagers out there who are trying to fit in by doing the wrong things; the girl adds, "Stop! It's not worth it." She had been tempted to start drinking in order to fit in...until she heard this song.34 17 Daryl Hall - Dreamtime (5) 33 18 Eurythmics - Missionary Man (14) 32 23 New Edition - Earth Angel (21) Flashback Extra: Gregory Abbott "Shake You Down"31 39 Triumph - Somebody's Out There (27) 30 40 Bruce Hornsby & The Range - The Way it Is (1) 29 32 Aretha Franklin - Jumpin' Jack Flash (21) 28 16 Gloria Loring & Carl Anderson - Friends and Lovers (2) 27 36 Lionel Richie - Love Will Conquer All (9) 26 29 Peter Gabriel - In Your Eyes (26)25 33 Ric Ocasek - Emotion in Motion (15) 24 31 Corey Hart - I Am By Your Side (18) 23 30 Peter Cetera & Amy Grant - The Next Time I Fall (1) 22 28 Toto - I'll Be Over You (11) Flashback Extra: The Pretenders "Don't Get Me Wrong", which was moving up the Hot 100 to #51 that week21 13 Huey Lewis & The News - Stuck With You (1) 20 12 Loverboy - Heaven in Your Eyes (12) 19 21 Journey - Girl Can't Help It (17)18 25 Oran "Juice" Jones - The Rain (9) 17 22 Cameo - Word Up (6) 16 24 Bon Jovi - You Give Love a Bad Name (1) 15 19 Eddie Money - Take Me Home Tonight (4) 14 07 Glass Tiger - Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone) (2) 13 20 Madonna - True Blue (3) 12 10 Billy Joel - A Matter of Trust (10) LDD: Journey "Faithfully" from Brian, who's in the Marines, to his fiancee Sandy, who'd been writing to him while he was away until suddenly the letters stopped coming; Brian went straight home when he had the opportunity to go on leave, only to discover Sandy in a wheelchair. The doctors had told her it'd be a long time before she'd walk again; she thought she'd never walk again, and that he wouldn't want to be stuck with her like that. Brian, vowing to stick by her anyway, spent the entire two weeks with her and convinced her to start working towards being able to walk again. Flashback Extra: Ben E. King "Stand By Me", which was "a week away from hitting the countdown"11 06 Stacey Q - Two of Hearts (3) 10 11 Anita Baker - Sweet Love (8)09 14 The Human League - Human (1) 08 09 Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam With Full Force - All Cried Out (8)07 04 Genesis - Throwing it All Away (4) 06 15 Boston - Amanda (1) 05 05 Don Johnson - Heartbeat (5)04 08 Robert Palmer - I Didn't Mean to Turn You On (2) 03 01 Janet Jackson - When I Think of You (1) Flashback Extra: Survivor "Is This Love", which was making the Hot Shot Debut that week at #7402 02 Tina Turner - Typical Male (2)01 03 Cyndi Lauper -- True Colors (1)Four songs debut this week. The four falling out of the survey are: "Words Get in the Way" by Miami Sound Machine (LW: 38), "Dancing on the Ceiling" by Lionel Richie (LW: 37), "Love Zone" by Billy Ocean (LW: 34), and "Walk This Way" by Run DMC (LW: 26). NOTES: - With the #1 song being "True Colors", complete with lyric that they are "beautiful...like a rainbow"...it doesn't feel quite right to have it in plain black bold this week, so above is what I did about it. :)
- By the way, the following week's show of 11-1 was hosted by Charlie Van Dyke, so it won't be heard - thus also the underlines for Journey and Anita Baker this week.
- Incidentally, "True Colors" does mark the second 1986 song to mark a complete 40-to-1 trip to the top in shows this year alone. The first was "The Greatest Love of All" on the 4-5 and 5-24 shows.
- And, speaking of that song, it might seem a little odd at first glance to have uptempo "Hip to Be Square" lead in to it for the first LDD. Listen to that first dedication, however, and the subject matter of the two match very closely (in fact, "Hip to Be Square" was sent in a similar-themed dedication on 3-28-87).
- Oddly, Casey didn't announce the week's biggest mover or dropper this week. Also oddly, "Love Will Conquer All" and "Emotion in Motion" are both at a similar midtempo, yet the former received the standard jingle and the latter received the softer jingle.
- The cue sheet for this week's show lists the second LDD as The Jackson Five's "I'll Be There". Word from Pete Battistini himself (via the AT40 Proboards forum) is that it was postponed and used the following week on 11-1. Whether that was due to an issue with running times ("I'll Be There" is 3:57, "Faithfully" is 4:24) or just needing an extra week to get the moved dedication ready, only the AT40 staff can say. (NOTE: This week's show posting on the Old Radio Shows site, despite a few errors, does have the correct LDD.)
- Speaking of the AT40 Proboard, special thanks also go to italianpony on there, who lately has been posting an image of the week's Hot 100 straight from Billboard magazine. And according to Billboard magazine, "Love Will Conquer All" was this week's Power Pick in Sales (marking the biggest sales increase), while "Hip to Be Square" was this week's Power Pick in Airplay (biggest airplay increase).
- It seems like it doesn't happen very often that one of the Premiere extras on a given week doubles as a #1 song on one of Billboard's other charts that week, but, as you'll discover in a moment, one of the four does just that this week.
- From the "To Spoil, or Not to Spoil?" Files: Casey's teaser for the new #1 song says it was from the singer "who projects a somewhat wacky, but an always winning personality". Given the strong personalities of the singers of both of the Top 2 songs this week, you almost can't tell who he's talking about! ;)
- #1 on the Album chart: Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi
- #1 on the Country chart: "Cry" by Crystal Gayle
- #1 on the Soul chart: "Shake You Down"
- #1 on the Dance chart: "Human"
