Well, time to begin the 2011 year end chart season with the Billboard Top 50 Adult Pop Songs of 2011. This chart is compiled with actual airplay date supplied by BDS similar to the Mediabase Hot AC year end chart, except that only airplay during the chart run of the song is used in compiling this chart. Once a song is moved to the recurrent chart, no additional airplay is used in compiling the final rankings. This keeps the chart fresher and would be more in line with the year end charts that are compiled using the inverse points method, but with a bit more accuracy using actual airplay data.
The chart covers the period from December 4, 2010 to November 26, 2011. Hence, there will be several older songs that rank considerably higher than where they otherwise would rank on a calendar year chart.
And this chart would not be complete without another "triple play" of Perry(i)'s between #20 and #22! Enjoy! :)
