I was rooting for this too, but I just have this FEELING that it's seen it's peak as well. I really don't think it's the song, it's CHRISTINA herself! I bet if Britney, Ke$ha or Rihanna sang this- it would be a SMASH and still be in the Top 10 of iTunes right now. You just nailed it. Everything has been set up perfectly for this to be her comeback: Featured on a No. 1 smash single, coaching on a Top 5 rated TV series, lead single that's infectious and written/produced by one of the top hitmakers of today. So what's wrong?! Why is this, of all the major music releases lately, the one that seems to be struggling to take off?

#42 on iTunes... I'm hopeful that the 2nd single is as amazing as "You Lost Me". Not a big fan of YB tbh

She's facing similar problem with Mariah i guess, doing better on airplay that sales. Digital sales really hurt Mariah's single success especially in US, probably Xtina may do similar route. But with healthy airplay, despite not high peak for the singles, the album will sell

Ive been saying the whole time, its X-Tina herself, NOT the song why this may (um..very possibly) be a flop lol. She is VERY unlikable. No doubt if at least 3 of the other current popular female singles mentioned were behind the mic. (even with much less vocal skills) this would easily be a solid top 10 on iTunes now.

This song is just so good. I feel so bad for her, she must be under a lot of pressure from her record label.

It's still gaining decently on radio. There's absolutely no reason to worry yet.

It's over. 99.9% that this won't make the top 10 now, top 20 is looking bleak, also. It flawped. I wouldn't count it out yet as its climbing on radio. But it's true she's very unlikeable on the voice and perhaps people are actually turned off once they find out its a xtina song. It seems to get good updates in the beginning (post cc deal) and lost steam

I can't believe they are basically just heaving this out there with basically no promo except the video. I know people will shriek that her being on The Voice=promo in itself, but when I think about rollouts for other singles I think of non-stop major performances, commercials, non-stops ads and price slashes on Itunes, tons of remixes or alternate versions also getting pushed, a LOT of promotion and pushes. Christina needs that push-she hasn't had a solo hit in like, 4-6 years. I guess it could still happen, but it feels like right now they didn't really have a lot of faith in it so they just threw it out there with minimum effort and are ok with letting it die :/ Which is strange. If they felt that way she should sign on for more Voice and not be planning a tour. I just don't get why they would be half-assing it right now when it isn't exactly like she can coast on good radio karma and momentum from previous smashes. Some of what I mentioned wouldn't even cost money so I don't really see it as just a money issue?

But out of the many other new tracks that are well above it on iTunes (One Direction, Rihanna, Ke$ha, Bruno Mars, Enrique), how many of them even have a video? Yes, most will end up promoting but I don't believe any have started, at least nothing significant. Having a video and 'The Voice' IS more promotion than any of her competitors currently have. Simply the song, and herself, aren't connecting. There's no doubt many factors at play - people may not like her, she's coming off a flop so people are less happy to buy it based on her name, her name alone simply isn't that recognisable with the youth like it used to be. It certainly can turn around somewhat, but it'd take a hell of a lot of promotion and plain luck for it to shoot back up into a Hot 100 top 20 position.

This is getting buried amongst all the new releases. Wish she would've released this in the Spring, premiered it at the season end of "The Voice," and let it smash all summer. It was a major mistake releasing it now.

Although it's a good track, it's not really distinctive enough to stand out from the slew of high-profile new releases.
Why she didn't release in the spring (when the single was originally intimated in January) is beyond me. It would have been perfect timing.

Yes, most will end up promoting but I don't believe any have started, at least nothing significant. Having a video and 'The Voice' IS more promotion than any of her competitors currently have. Clearly all of those people are much bigger artists with much more recent smashes. I mean, I am seriously baffled why anyone here is saying a new Christina track should be debuting with the same exact interest and sales as One Direction, Kesha, or Rihanna LOL. That is just confusing to me? Christina flopped massively with her last release and hasn't had a hit in years. I just always expected more of an uphill battle, but I guess everyone else expected an instant smash like literally the biggest and most recent stars out there? She is more in the position (to me) of someone like Kelly who basically promoted MKIA literally non-stop for six months in every way possible. It eventually became a hit, but do people really think it would have been if she threw out a video and did nothing else for the song ever?

Yeah, they should have learned from that approach because Kelly was everywhere when the last era started. Granted, they may have planned to be more aggressive since MKIA wasn't a guaranteed hit in the way that Your Body sounds like (in that it's much more in line with radio today), but still. I don't want to get on their case too much. Christina clearly has her eye on her music since she's not participating in The Voice this spring, so I can only imagine they have more planned for her. There are still a lot of The Voice episodes to come, and all the fall talk shows are just now getting back on the air after the summer hiatus.

They should have released this the week after it leaked instead of waiting three weeks to coincide with The Voice (and other major releases). It's not like they did any promo on the show when it was finally released except a 30 second clip from the music video. I thought their plan was to premiere the song on The Voice with a performance. The song didn't even get an iTunes banner!
Anyway, if Christina and her team really are intent on success this time around then I trust that they have a few tricks up their sleeves. A radio tour and (finally) a performance on The Voice would be a good start.

It also wouldn't hurt if Christina tried to improve her image to a somewhat more down to earth type.

Yeah I always thought they waited because of promo that was planned and then no promo ever happened. They really needed to just release when it leaked in light of them not even having anything planned for several weeks later. That way it would have also been more established on radio by the time the slew of new releases came out now. I am sure there was some reason to sit on it that we just don't know about and that isn't related to promo or debut performances? Like, I am trying not to assume they are just stupid and incompetent

It is not a bad song. But it isn't her best effort or Max Martin's for that matter.
And she doesn't have any equity right now that would allow her to get by on something mediocre. Chances are if this was Katy, Rihanna, Pink, etc. it would have done a lot better.
Another thing, the Xtina that we are seeing in magazines, ads, videos, does not look like the Xtina we see on tv or in candids. TBH she looks like a hot mess in real life more often than not. There is a disconnect in her image.
I am not sure she is poised for a come back just yet.

I find some artists dont promote/perform really until closer to the album release. P!nk didnt do a performance until the VMAs, and that was quite awhile after it was release digitally and to radio.

Yes, but "Blow Me" was already a top 10 hit before the all the promo. This is struggling to make the top 20.

I wonder if part of this is Christina? Maybe her team is pushing her to go out and promote this but she doesn't want to? Her recent comments about Bionic make me think that she might not realize how critical it is that this project be a success for her. It's not bad to love your music regardless of commercial success but if you really want to make a comeback, you kind of have to admit to the fact that you've been gone and might not hold as much weight (figuratively obviously) as you once did.
I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't want to be out doing morning shows and daytime TV promoting her new song and album because she feels it looks washed up or "beneath" the Christina Aguilera brand.
