LOL at Your Body not being generic and safe. I love the song but come off it. And if Britney / Katy / Ke$ha / Rihanna had released this song as a lead single it'd easily be top 10 right now. I wasn't expecting a WFL sized hit but I was expecting it to do much better than it is, it's puzzling as to why it's doing so poorly. Weren't some people saying that the song was a little slow that they wish it was faster. Some people were even saying that the song was hookless or that the hook wasn't that catchy. So yeah it's not the typical generic Max Martin song. Are you kidding me? Max Martin has made slower songs (Whattaya Want From Me and The One That Got Away). When did anyone(who had any degree of agreement) say that this was hookless or wasn't catchy? It is an EXTREMELY typical Max Martin song, and you are being an EXTREMELY delusional stan right now.

And society keeps demonizing female sexuality. When male artists take their shirts off and grab their crotch in a video, they are seen as powerful, virile, strong, masculine. But when a female artist dresses in a way that shows skin and expresses her sexuality, she is branded as a slut, a ho, desperate, trashy, etc. This is a horrible and disturbing double standard. The type of slutshaming that occurs in the media is absolutely disgusting. Speaking of double standards, let's imagine if a male artist decided to 'kill' females in an artistic way in their music video. Would people find that video amusing, sexy or artistic as they probably do with hers?
Damn right s**t would hit the fan.
IDC about her weight -- I'm personally put off by the misandry displayed in the video to this song and find that absolutely disgusting to be honest. You realize that the "double standard" you just referenced is intrinsically BECAUSE of the male dominated patriarchy which society is based around...right?

I fail to see how any of these double standards are beneficial to society. No matter how you try to excuse it.

LOL. Obviously, double standards are not good.
But the overwhelming amount of male domination, media-based misogyny and pigeonholes that women are put into makes it almost comical to see a woman taking charge and killing off her lovers.
If a male artist was to do a video like this, it wouldn't be cute because it would be all too real.

I honestly don't think this is at that catchy. I think the song flopped because of the song. I just can't see people singing along to this like they do the other big hits this year... That aside, I still love the song And for those that keep saying they want it to at least peak in the Top 20... IT ALREADY HAS AN OFFICIAL PEAK OF 20

I don't understand how people think it's NOT the song. Look what the RIGHT song did to J.Lo, Enrique Iglesias, Mariah Carey during Emancipation era, and Pink during the I'm Not Dead era. They say it all the time in all these singing competitions...SONG CHOICE. Your Body is not the right song. "All I wanna do is love your body, oh oh oh oh oh ohhhh" After a massive flop era, these are the lyrics that signal her comeback? Listeners know that the heavyweights of today, Gaga, Adele, Katy can write a better and more creative hook than that. Combine that with the fact that her name is no longer a big draw, her personality sucks, and people never dug her sexual songs anyways and we have a recipe for disaster. If Rihanna, Katy, or Gaga sang this, it'd be a hit. But listeners are naturally picky with Xtina because of her current stance as a pop star. She can't get away with "okay" songs, she needs something more innovative to get noticed again. If she had the right song that people can relate to and consider a quality song, they won't give a crap if they like Xtina or not because they will have a great song to jam out to! J.Lo hardly promoted On The Floor in the beginning after years without a big hit, yet it became a smash on its own through iTunes sales, radio noticed people actually liked it and BAM! J.Lo was back with her biggest hit in years. Look at Nicki Minaj. Her image is in the gutter with her latest album yet it still went platinum on the strength of its lead single breaking a record for most weeks in the top 10 for a non-#1. Why? Because people enjoyed Starships regardless of the drama Nicki was a part of. RIGHT SONG CHOICE. Why did this song plunge into the 40's-50's on iTunes soon after its release? People aren't really feeling the song. Period.

So yeah it's not the typical generic Max Martin song. I mean, it kind of is -- it goes back to his 90's hey day ("Don't Turn Around" by Ace of Base) just like "One More Night" (which is like "Don't Turn Around" meets the stuff he did for BSB/NSync). It is a little slower, a little more R&B. I think it's safe enough, but undeniably good. I think it's her image. She has that insecure/yet overly-confident issue. She's going to wear something two sizes too small, look in the mirror, and see someone thirty pounds lighter. If Mariah could do it, though, I don't see why she can't get away with it. I don't watch The Voice -- does she come across as bizarre?

I honestly don't see how anyone can say this isn't catchy. exactly this. it's one of my favorties of the year, too. It's more than just catchy, though. It's soulful warm, and inviting. Are you guys longtime Christina fans? I remember her vocals on the last album sounded more weathered, harsher. This is the first time since Stripped, to me at least, where she sounds like old-Christina again...the vocals remind me of "Can't Hold Me Down."

i am not a Xtina fan by any means, but the song and video won me over for right now, at least. Really impressed by the video and her look and all. To me, this is a much better song than Adele's, Bruno's, or Kelly's latest. I think Ke$ha and Rihanna have her beat, but this should definitely see a Top 10 peak if it were up to me. On both major formats.

Good Update! I really hope it turns around. Does anyone know when the Voice live shows start? Obviously I think it's smart for her to perform on the first one but then I thought about her performing on the show during the release week of Lotus to help drum up some extra album sales and interest. I'm a bit conflicted really.

The show lineup has a couple more weeks of Battle Rounds, and then "The Knockouts." Do live shows begin after that? That would be first week of November.
I'd think she would perform during the album release week. Either way, ain't no way the album will compete with One Direction's release.

I love the song but it doesn't scream comeback or lead single either. To me it sounds like a song that should've been the 3rd or 4th single.

I look at her recent comments as her trying to build herself up in her own mind because she lacks confidence. Considering all of the things that she's gone through in the last two years (the end of her marriage, the utter failure of Bionic, the under-performance of Burlesque, her cringe-worthy performance of the National Anthem at the Super Bowl, the barrage of criticism over her weight gain, etc., etc.), her self-worth has to have taken a hit.

Hmmm... let's see... in the past two years, she's earned tens of millions of dollars, been honored by the UN, Hillary Clinton, the ALMA Awards, been part of a worldwide #1 smash, been on a hit TV show, been nominated for Grammys and a Golden Globe... I wouldn't be too worried about her self worth if I were you, lol...

^And the last time she had a Top 10 radio hit was over six years ago. America loves a comeback. Did she do more tracks with Martin or any relevant producers? If this at least does moderately well (Top 20), the next single could be big.

I'm thinking it could be a hit. That's probably all the songs with Max but who knows until we get the full credits. I know she worked with Alex da Kid too.

That song they said should've been the 1st single along with Circles. I'm just glad that the listeners at the party were able to identify some hits. Bionic really didn't have the same result. She seems to have learned.
