One of the best songs ever. Peaked at #2 in 1971, although I was surprised to read that many artists had covered this before the Carpenters got their hand on it. The original is by Delaney and Bonnie from 1969.

Sorry, Clay Aiken.This is the definitive version. Luther Vandross' wasn't bad, but still not comparable to this one.

one of the best songs of all-time for sure, and one of the best female voices of all-time, too. Personally my favorite female voice.
