To be honest, those that are concerned over WANEGBT's run on Country radio really shouldn't be. It was obvious that it wasn't going to scrape the Top 5, let alone reach #1. It was being tossed through a couple of low Top 20 spots for weeks since its BS debut at #13, so it was pretty obvious that the song wasn't going to do much.
However, this song should easily take her back into the Top 5, if not directly to #1. It's a beautifully-written story, lovely arrangement, and a nice (and somewhat thankful) shift from WANEGBT. I love this.

Talk about misconstruing and misquoting. He never said Taylor is now Pop. He said WANEGB together is a Pop record and they've never hidden it, why should they? It IS a Pop record. He then said Taylor likes to explore different boundaries and he encouraged her to pursue any sound she desired to pursue as long as the quality was good. This song is straight up country music and perhaps one of her most country sounding efforts yet. Taylor also said to Billboard magazine (on that same night) that she wanted to departure from her "traditional" sound and grow as a musician WITHOUT alienating her fans to the point where they don't recognize who she is, so there will be a balance on the album. There really is no "controversy" here...at all.

Beautiful country song—this is exactly what Taylor needed to release to country radio right now!

Am I wrong in thinking that other than Mean, this is the most country-oriented song she's released since her debut? Am I wrong in thinking that's not saying much?

Nice. Haven't hear the full song yet, but at least it sounds country. WANEGBT should've never been released to country radio, and I'm glad it didn't work. It's like a slap in the face to Scott Borchetta. Nice to see that a song won't just work because it has Taylor's name on it.
Let's see how this one does.

I absolutely love this. This is what I like from her. Country-leaning, well-written, age-appropriate and mature material.

Much better than the nearly blasphemous WANEGBT, but this is reminding me too much of Kenny Chesney's recent era. The lyrics are much better and very sweet, but the chorus sounds more like a pre-chorus imo. Maybe this'll grow on me. It'll be tough to convince my family with this song alone, so maybe a handful of these and I'll consider getting this album.

The clip sounds really promising. I loved WANEGBT, but I'm just as happy to see them moving on to something countrier, which will be met with less resistance at radio here, since the song has already accomplished its true goal of breaking her back in at CHR/Pop radio and netting her accolades such as a top country debut and a #1 Hot 100 hit. ...even if it was through artificial means...the end justifies the means....for some.

I'm glad that they are moving forward with this. WANEGBT, a song that I love, is and always will be a pop record and it's actually amazing that a song that is so pop got as much airplay as it did. Even the country mix didn't help "de-pop" it. I think it's a testament to the power Taylor has as a recording artist. With both a future country and a pop hit, I agree that they are looking to have the album debut with over a million copies and that should actually be the main goal at this point.

This is decent. Much better than the horrid mess that was WANEGBT.
Her vocals sound great here; I especially love the softer tone on "In a Wednesday in a cafe I watched it begin again." The arrangement really suits her voice, too. I can be really critical of her vocal tone when it becomes too grating, but I feel like I'd be a much bigger fan if she stuck with songs that suit her limited range. The lyrics are decent, but she's been hit-or miss as a writer since the debut era for me. Those songs were strikingly introspective and quite mature, for the most part. Now I feel like she's resorted to writing catchy, simple pop tunes that simply aren't up to par with her earlier work. The only excellent song that I think stands up to the debut era from SN is "Back To December." And I really want to see her explore other topics other than relationship songs. The ones on the past two albums were so one-sided and a few were downright catty. C'mon, Taylor. You're better than that.

I hope this grows on me. It's not my favorite Taylor song ever.
Is there a chorus? Everything is just flowing into itself in the song. There aren't any ups or down.
I'm disappointed (and actually, I wasn't super crazy about WANEGBT, either) and hoped for something as stellar as Back To December.

This should be a hit on Country radio. The perfect song for Taylor to get a hit on the country stations before "Red" is out in a month. Love the song. One of Taylor's best.

Uh, what happened to the first single, it was only 6 weeks old. It also debuted really high. What's up?

"Never Ever" was obviously a pop song that wasn't suited for country radio (I think her team wanted to see where those boundaries were and weren't to keen on the idea of dual first releases). All in all its performance on country radio is a small blip on what is sure to be another hugely successful era for Taylor. "Never Ever" is shaping up to be a massive hit on other radio formats (not to mention a big digital seller) while "Begin Again" will find success on country radio. Small hiccup, but not to worry, things will be back on track in the blink of an eye.

Given all that, the title of this one is peculiarly appropriate. :)

Much better than WANGBT for sure. This is much more Taylor in her element. Good song, nothing amazing, but simple and pleasant. I don't think she'll have any problems taking this top 5 on Country.

Now this is more like it, an absolutely beautiful country song.
Is it safe to assume this is a Nathan Chapman/Taylor Swift production considering it's a Taylor solo write?

I will be completely shocked if Nathan Chapman produced this song. The production is probably the best she's ever had IMO and her vocals are perfect. Dann Huff produced a few songs on Red according to Billboard, I'm guessing this is one of them.

This is beautiful! Love it. Should do wonders for her on country. I'm so glad they finally pulled the plug on (the obviously struggling) WANEGBT for "Begin Again." Can't wait to see the chart run for this!

I like WANEGBT a lot (too catchy to deny it), but Begin Again is obviously better suited for country radio and will easily bring Taylor back to the top 10. Gives me an Ours (2nd fav single from SN after Mean) vibe too, which is good since I've always like better her slower, quieter songs (Dear John, Tim McGraw, Haunted, Ronan, etc)
