I just want to point out (not sure if this is what you meant or not) that Die Young's 8th day effect big loss will occur Wednesday morning. Diamonds' 8th day won't happen until Thursday, meaning its big day of airplay will still count towards this week's Hot 100. Yeah, that was what I wasn't sure about. Thanks, but it doesn't matter, with lower sales+streaming they'll still be between 220-250 points.

Yeah, it won't end up making too big of a difference chart wise. :)

Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Ke$ha Set For Strong Hot 100 Debuts
The female superstars are primed to storm the chart next week with new singles.
As fourth quarter brings its annual bounty of superstar releases (just in time for the busy holiday shopping season), three songs help usher in this year's onslaught, as Taylor Swift, Ke$ha and Rihanna are set to enter next week's Billboard Hot 100 with new singles.
Swift serves up "Begin Again," the second single from her fourth studio album "Red," due Oct. 22. (Lead track "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" became her first Hot 100 No. 1, leading the list for three weeks.) Ke$ha's "Die Young" previews her sophomore full-length, "Warrior," due Dec. 4, while Rihanna's "Diamonds" introduces her seventh set, due this fall.
Industry sources say that Swift's "Begin" could sell 300,000 downloads or more by the end of the tracking week on Sunday (Sept. 30). Ke$ha's "Young" could start with more than 200,000, as could Rihanna's "Diamonds." Predicting the latter song's sales is a bit harder for industry forecasters than the first two, as it was released on a Wednesday instead of Tuesday (the more common label practice). "Diamonds," thus, will launch on next week's Hot 100 and Digital Songs charts with one day less of a sales sum than its competitors.
By comparison, Rihanna's "We Found Love," the first single from her last studio album, "Talk That Talk," bowed at No. 7 on Digital Songs (Oct. 8, 2011) with 117,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. (That song hit retail on a Thursday). "Found" then built steadily in weekly sales, reaching No. 1 on Digital Songs four weeks later. One week after that, it began its 10-week rule on the Hot 100.
As for Ke$ha, the last time she introduced a brand new single to the market was late 2010 with "We R Who We R," the lead track from her "Cannibal" EP. "We R" crashed Digital Songs at No. 1 (Nov. 13, 2010) with 280,000 sold and simultaneously debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100.
Swift, meanwhile, already experienced the buzz of a first single from her forthcoming album, as "Never" soared to No. 1 on the Hot 100 (from an airplay-only-fueled No. 72 debut) fueled by 623,000 downloads sold in its first week, according to SoundScan. The arrival set the record for the highest one-week digital sales total by a female artist.
RADIO'S ALSO READY
Swift, Ke$ha and Rihanna's new songs are also receiving warm welcomes at radio.
As of this posting, "Begin," Swift's new country (but not pop) radio single, already ranks at No. 39 on the building Country Songs chart with 2 million in first-week audience, according to Nielsen BDS. (While "Never" falls 15-21 on the building country list, the song remains gaining on the all-format Radio Songs building chart at No. 3, thanks to continued rising pop and adult crossover support.)
Rihanna's "Diamonds" is already shining extremely brightly on the building Radio Songs chart, showing at No. 6 with 22 million in all-format audience, according to BDS. Its first-day airplay was aided by promotional airplay on participating pop, rhythm and adult pop Clear Channel Media and Entertainment stations, so, following that initial splash, it isn't likely to maintain a top five rank when the Radio Songs chart is finalized next Wednesday (Oct. 3). It will still, however, make a grand entrance on the survey.
Ke$ha's "Young," meanwhile, is trending at No. 64 on the building Radio Songs chart with 6 million in audience. (Swift's "Begin" is not yet showing among the top 100 titles on the building Radio Songs survey.)
PREDICTING THE HOT 100
How high can Swift, Rihanna and Ke$ha's new singles launch on the Hot 100 next week? And, will any of them be strong enough to compete for No. 1?
Maroon 5's "One More Night" has spent the past two weeks at No. 1, while PSY's "Gangnam Style" blasts 11-2 this week, powered by a 4-1 coronation on Digital Songs (301,000 downloads sold, up 60%, according to SoundScan). With "Gangnam" expected to sell 275,000-300,000 by the end of the sales tracking week, and it trending at No. 32 on the building Radio Songs chart, it would seem that "Night" (205,000 sold this past week and showing at No. 2 on Radio Songs so far this week) and "Gangnam" will battle for the Hot 100's top spot next week.
Most likely, Swift's "Begin" will begin in the Hot 100's top 10, with Rihanna's "Diamonds" and Ke$ha's "Young" arriving in the top 20.
Highlights of the refreshed Hot 100, Digital Songs and Radio Songs charts will post on Wednesday (Oct. 3) on Billboard.com, with the Hot 100 to be unveiled in its entirety the following day.

PSY Watch: Will 'Gangnam Style' Reach No. 1 on the Hot 100?
The K-Pop star has vowed to perform topless if the song climbs to the top of the chart. Will we see PSY strip down?
With more than 300 million views on YouTube, PSY's "Gangnam Style" has inspired parodies by hot moms, Gandalf the Grey, "My Little Pony," Navy men and marching bands. The song is so popular that it rose to No. 2 last week -- behind Maroon 5's "One More Night" -- but only time will tell if PSY can gallop his way to No. 1.
If he does reach the top, PSY has another surprise in store for his fans, and people across the world will be seeing a lot more of the South Korean rapper. "If it ranks number one in the Billboard chart, then I will perform 'Gangnam Style' topless in a place where everyone can watch," Psy said in a news conference, Reuters reports.
But will we see PSY strip down to show off his horse dance? We'll be keeping you updated through the weekend and next week, tracking the ups and downs of "Gangnam Style" to see if PSY fans are in for a shirtless show.
At the moment, Maroon 5 appears to have a slight advantage in overall Hot 100 points, but there's is still a weekend of activity ahead. Another viral video like this one or this one may give PSY the edge, or an unexpected performance like his "Saturday Night Live" cameo could help "Gangnam Style" shoot up the chart.
Next week, PSY's "Gangnam Style" is forecasted to sell 300,000, while Maroon 5's "Night" is expected to move 210,000-225,000. (The Nielsen SoundScan sales tracking week ends on Sunday, Sept. 30.) But through two-and-a-half days of airplay, "Night" has accumulated 43 million in audience, while "Style" has seen only 15 million. Because "Gangnam Style" will likely lead in sales and "Night" will finish ahead in airplay, either song could top the Hot 100.
Two weeks ago, "Gangnam Style" debuted at No. 64 on the Billboard Hot 100, then climbed to No. 11 last week. This week it rose to No. 2, just one spot behind Maroon 5's "One More Night." Although PSY's eyes are set on the top of the Hot 100, he currently sits at No. 1 on both the Digital Songs and Social 50 charts.
Although Adam Levine and the boys have a slight edge over the K-pop star, all hope is not lost. Billboard is tracking both songs' progress, and the results revealed on Billboard.com, next Wednesday (Oct. 3). Come back tomorrow to see whether PSY has managed to dance his way ahead of Maroon 5's headstart!

The last time a song was so popular at the internet occured still this year and it spent 9 weeks at #1.

But hopefully Gangnam Style won't spend that much atop Hot 100. 1-3 week is acceptable. It would be so lame to block everything from #1 like Call Me Maybe did.

To be fair, CMM didn't have really strong competition. It only hit 300k once yet managed to stay on top that long.

Call Me Maybe deserved every week at #1 it got. It blocked tons of songs, including Wide Awake. It managed to stay on top because of streaming, not sales or airplay. When will Rihanna?

Nobody's saying it didn't deserve it. What makes it deserve it anyway? Or any song? It had the most points when sales, airplay and streaming were all added up. That's it.
All they were saying was that the competition wasn't exactly fierce, which is totally true.

Looks like initial reception of Die Young > Diamonds, even though Diamonds is already top 50 HAC and got top 50 rhythmic today as well. Hopefully Diamonds flops and then Die Young and Live While We're Young smash.

Diamonds will ascend after the video. It also seems more of an album seller song which is good.

I like Diamonds (not that it has anything to do with charts)
It has the Drunk on Love vibe on it. DOL was the critical favourite on TTT, alongside with WFL obviously, and it's good that she's following that path.

Billboard prediction 10/13/2012 so far... Because the prediction had a lot of mistakes I added streaming. The prediction is: - 48% downloads - 37% airplay - 15% streamingI thought airplay counted more than sales. ??? Sales count more than airplay. After some analysis from charts by dlostfan, that was calculated.

The idea of one component "counting more" than another is relative; one track will do a lot better on airplay than sales, and another vice-versa. I don't recall Billboard saying that the airplay or sales dividers (10,000 and 10, respectively) were going to be lowered with on-demand info added to the mix- or did I miss that?

I also do that in my prediction. The percentages are the average of how much airplay, sales... count to give the people an quick view of how much airplay , sales and streaming counts for a song.

OK- so BB never did say what the exact new ratios were for airplay and sales. I know some have been working like mad scientists trying to figure out the latest formula, though, so I suppose I should have known that. Until on-demand info hit, the airplay divider had been constant since late 1998 (when all other formats joined the Hot 100 Airplay panel). The sales divier, though, has changed a few times, as we saw. For a time, it was 12; and then it shifted back to 10 in 2000 or so. Then when digital sales entered, it was shifted to 5. And then in 2007, after digital sales had grown in a major way, t was shifted back to 10.
