I Do Not Hook Up was one of her bigger hits worldwide so it makes sense to include it even if hardcore fans don't really like it. My personal list would leave it off.

I normally prefer chronological too, but I think in Kelly's case reverse chronological would work well, ending with the acoustic version of AMLT*. That would be a sweet and appropriate album closer.
I believe the purpose of this release from the label point of view is to remind people of all the hit songs Kelly has made while emphasizing that there are still more to come, so in that regard I agree with james that this is a "Greatest Hits" and not a "Best of." A best-of collection would include the hits, but would also include less successful singles, artist picks, and fan faves. That will come later in her career though. For now, DS, AIEW, Sober, Low, and TTWLI shouldn't be and likely aren't up for inclusion.
I'm very iffy on including IDNHU, though. It just doesn't feel like it was a 'great' hit for her and like someone else said, I'd doubt many people would really miss it. I'd leave it off myself but I'm not necessarily opposed to its inclusion. DYWS should be included. (Edit - in light of LPL's comment, mine was obviously being an egocentric US citizen lol. That said, I was just looking at the IDNHU page and interestingly whoever wrote it said in the chart performance section that the song "did not fare as well in the international markets.")
*well, almost ending. Depending on how they sound I would probably place one of the new songs last.

Dark Side will almost definately be on the hit's collection. Afterall it is Kelly's latest single and hopefully will be getting radio play by the albums release date to support sales for the Hits Collection; unless of course they use that single as a reason to buy the "Stronger" album.
I also don't expect Sober in the collection, considering Kelly's all but ignored it in her recent tours. We also need to remember AMLT was #1 in America. There's no way they will / or should ignore that.

I like Dark Side but putting it on the album would be asinine imo.

I heard "Dark Side" on the radio seven times today. I counted. Took Detroit long enough.

Jeff on Twitter said a bit more about Catch My Breath tonight. He said it's not a "banger", but not boring. Sonically it's not electronic nor overly pop/rock. When asked to compare it to a song or any of Kelly's songs, he said he couldn't think of any right away. At the very least, it's not going to sound like a SUBG clone or any of her other memorable hits.
Normally I wouldn't post anything from someone claiming to be official, especially with info as vague as this, but he's legit and has for sure heard the song. Something for us to think about while we wait, at least.

I'm surprised they're going with something different, I was thinking it would be more likely to be a generic clone (like an equivalent of "Raise Your Glass"). Sounds good, though. I can't wait!

"Gone" hit #1 in Boston and NYC in between BOY and WA. ;)
It felt so awesome hearing it all over the radio when I lived up there then. :)

Jeff is an insider who often hears new releases in advance and gives out vague information on Twitter. twitter.com/jeff1317He said in the last few hours that "Catch My Breath" is catchy and he could see it doing well. Songs get recurrent airplay and do you really want to remind the general public her latest single flopped by not including it? But do you really want to remind the general public her latest single flopped by including it? I could see them including "Dark Side" since it's recent and might help win over newer/younger fans who don't know/like her older material, similarly to how Jennifer Lopez included "I'm Into You", but otherwise I don't think that song belongs anywhere near a greatest hits set. Kelly has more than enough actual hits to fill up a standard length album.

I live in Boston and remember "Gone" constantly getting played. Why wasn't it released? It lingered between num.40-50 for ages at Top40. I thought it was far superior to Walk Away which I do like. Walk Away has a little more Rythmic feel to it and was a little different from her prior singles that era. Maybe that's why they went with it.

Also, he said that it was "pretty uptempo."

I have a feeling that this single is the least radio-friendly of the three tracks and that Kelly - rightfully so - wants her own song to be the CD's debut. She earned it. Her announcement says it all. This is not about being a commercial smash (though she wouldn't mind that) - its about reflecting on the last ten years and celebrating her achievements.

I don't really care that much about how much the GH sells; I'm more concerned with seeing the new songs go Top 10 on the Hot 100 and Top 3 on Pop radio. With that in mind, I don't really think the order of single releases matters all that much. I actually respect Kelly a lot for releasing the song she wants to first, even if (or perhaps because of the fact that) it doesn't track her normal single release schedule from a project (i.e. Rocking uptempo smash), which CMB doesn't sound like it will. Hopefully it sees success, notwithstanding this departure.

If you have momentum on your side you can do that. Since Kelly's last single didn't do so well and she has stronger competition than she'd have if they had waited a few months, the first single should be the most radio-friendly.

I agree, this needs to be a hit if they plan on sending this to radio. If it was just a buzz single before the real single it wouldn't matter if it was radio friendly or not but it's not the case, this is the first single and it will be sent to radio.

![](http://i40.tinypic.com/2rgkp60.jpg) @ everyone judging the song before it even comes out. You are pushing it a little. I haven't read any critique or review of the song here yet. Apart from speculating there is not much to do at this point and that is exactly what we do.

I think it's pretty extreme to speculate that a song won't sound like a hit based on Kelly saying she has emotional attachment to it.

There is just so little informations about the song out there... I'm not defending myself here because I never wrote anything about it being a hit or not based on the note Kelly wrote... but I understand why people could come to that conclusion... songs with serious/strong messages don't always become huge hits, it's not the cool thing to do.

There is a difference between speculating whether this sounds like a "hit" or whether or not RCA intends for this to be a hit. The latter has been my big question. Is this something they really believe in or is it a single they are just throwing out there because Kelly really wants it and they figure, for whatever reason, let's give her one. I can see it going either way. It is fun to speculate. We could all quit posting entirely until the single comes out if that would make you happier...
