I loved The Makings Of Me because of its cohesiveness ! To me it was a solid album, the songs flow into each other really well. Sideline Ho/Raw/Gotta Move On/Getaway  To me her best two albums are definitely Miss Thang and After the Storm. Followed by The Boy Is Mine (the highlight tracks are amazing, but it feels a bit rushed and a couple of tracks sound dated now and/or uninspired) and The Makings of me. Regarding the battle, she looked great ! She was kind of tight and stiff though. Her awkwardness was uncomfortable to watch at times. "Like This and Like That" is such a Bop ! |

Yes, there was genuine love between them behind the scenes but what irks me is Brandy and co. (ex. Ray J’s IG caption) having to be so extra and lay it on so thick. Brandy up there talking about Missy making them a song (which I would love) and a Verzuz 2 and then touring together, etc. and Mo’s response is plainly “...we just got HERE” (after 8 years of NO communication at all) meaning take it ONE step at a time which makes the most sense. Then they have to reiterate it on social media and when Mo doesn’t echo the sentiments or engage in that dialogue publicly, and nothing comes to fruition, she’s painted as the stuck up bitch who hates Brandy. Hella annoying. Was also annoying they didn’t sing together but now that I know why, I’m not even mad. I also felt this deeply. 😂 I felt that in my soul. When Brandy went on and on and on about TBIM I said out loud “and you would be singing YOUR SINGLE by YOUR SELF”. Brandy was doing too much. Anyway, songs I felt Monica should’ve featured include: “Street Symphony” “Get It Off” - which I would’ve fainted for “Don’t Gotta Go Home” - like girl really? This is one of her most known album cuts “Misty Blue” - show off dem vocals chile! I would have loved a battle between "Street Symphony" and "Angel in Disguise". |

I was shocked to see that Monica has had a lot more chart success than Brandy (higher peaks), I would have bet it was the other way around. Anyway, I gotta watch this. But 3 hours is a long ass time... Just fast forward Brandy’s poems.  |

Not for nothing but I think Clive/Arista kept putting out commercial singles for Monica when Brandy's label didn't always. (I think)
That may be a reason Monica's singles looked to peak higher??
I forget now though I grew up in the era and read Billboard.
Brandy's sales album wise were always a little better than Monica's.

She performed songs at the end of each episode. I also remember when she was presented a stripped down version of “Love All Over Me”. Then when it was put on the album it had that off beat kick drum and I was pissed! I wish I had the demo version on my computer. |
