Only way GS can be #1 this week is if it gets another huge jump on streaming. Sales advantage will probably decrease, and Airplay deficit will probably remain the same.

- STIUTK just refuses to die. I wonder how much longer will it stay in Top 20.
- ALAYLM keeps increasing. I thought it would be peaking by now. Great for it because this is the first JB song I really like.

With the gains "Skyfall" has been seeing the last few days, tomorrow's numbers (which remove the first day of play) should drop to the neighborhood of 13.5 million or so.

It would be awesome if Justin could manage to get that overall airplay #1. Kind of a stretch though considering he's stalling on Pop.

US chart preview: @taylorswift13's I Knew You Were Trouble sold more than 208,000 copies in its 1st 48 hours of serviceable downloads.
Oh that's around what I guessed. It had 4x Gangnam's sales, then 2x, and Gangnam sold about 36k a day last week, so I figured the song had sold about 216k.

To top the hot country songs chart... Almost every past no.1 country song doesn't need help from TOP 40 radio to top the hot country songs chart. Now it does. Blown Away is at #3 on this new hot country songs chart behind the #2 song, Red, that has had zero country airplay. :(

Blown Away is at #3 on this new hot country songs chart behind the #2 song, Red, that has had zero country airplay. :( But it's not getting pop play(it's downloads making it chart so high). So you can't blame it all on pop.

Now it does. Blown Away is at #3 on this new hot country songs chart behind the #2 song, Red, that has had zero country airplay. :( But "Red" is a Country Song and was more popular than "Blown Away", according to Billboard's rules. You don't have to be played by Country radio to be considered a Country song. That's a silly condition. Now, WEAGBTEGF, that's one big joke we can all agree on. Anyway, Hot 100. I think all these constant new releases have really gotten in the way of Psy selling more and overcoming radio business deals. Bad luck for him.

Why would Psy have to overcome radio business deals? if it's something to overcome, then all tracks have that challenge. Plus, these deals have only been for one day lately.

But all tracks don't have that challenge. When 3/4 new releases all end up with top of the hour promotional airplay, then that gears that many songs to have instant exposure for a large number of stations. Instead of discovering the song on their own, stations instead are giving the song on a silver platter and fans will get forced exposure on that day. Sure, Day 1 when the song is on every hour, the song will have the "what is this?" affect with listeners. But the days afterwards, you have the curiosity requests "hey, what was that song I heard the other day? can you play it again?"
Whereas a track without that, will likely get its test spins done overnight initially, and all stations won't be suddenly doing those test spins on the same day. The likeliness of someone hearing the song and going "hey, what was that song I heard the other day? can you play it again?" is much lower when a song isn't suddenly spun at the top of the hour every hour for a day. Instead it follows a much different pattern. It is a disadvantage all non-deal songs do have to compete with that deal songs do have.
