YOUR ONE-DAYS: New week, same chart champ. Taylor Swift should remain at #1 next week, with Michael Bublé's resurgent Christmas album and T.I. vying for runner up. Here's how the week's key debuts are shaping up:
T.I. (Grand Hustle/Atlantic) 150-175k, 12/12/12: The Concert for Sandy Relief (Columbia) 125-150k Chief Keef (Interscope) 50-55k
The highly anticipated soundtrack for the Les Misérables movie, meanwhile, rolls out on Friday. And speaking of miserable, we plan to make you less so by going away for a couple of weeks. (12/19p)
Should note: There likely won't be a HITS chart posted for the next 2 weeks.

Good for T.I.
The outdated New Release Schedule I have says 125k for T.I.

So Taylor should be over 175k then. Hopefully above 200k.

Those are better sales for T.I. than I expected. He's well past his prime, and his last album didn't do well, but that's a strong debut. I'm doubtful about it having longevity though.

Stop with this "Lord" stuff. Taylor Swift is a young woman, not a God.

I'm thinking the 12/12/12 concert will come out at the higher end of that range, it had all those pre-orders and is doing well on iTunes yet again.
Of course, it isn't available for physical sales so maybe not. But that means it will have some longevity in January when the physical album is released.

The week around Christmas is always harder for HDD to predict so hopefully things trend upwards. The following week will be big too because of Christmas Eve and the busy shopping, discounting, returning, redeeming that goes on after the holiday.

I'm guessing the weeks will be like this (without looking at the release schedule)
Red: 300k Red: 100k Red: 60k Red vs. random artist no one's ever heard of #1: 45k random artist no one's ever heard of #2: 40k random artist no one's ever heard of #3: 32k and breaks the record big name finally releases something: 200k
and then we should be at the Grammy's by then.

T.I., '12-12-12' Albums Heading for High Debuts on Next Week's Billboard 200 Chart December 19, 2012 | By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles As the year comes to a close, the last big new albums hit retailers this week, with T.I.'s "Trouble Man: Heavy Is the Head" leading the charge. Industry sources are forecasting that the hip-hop star's latest album -- his first in two years -- could sell between 150,000 and 170,000 by Dec. 23. But that won't be enough for No. 1, as Taylor Swift's "Red" will likely hold the crown for a sixth non-consecutive week. It's too early to tell how well "Red" will sell this week, however. T.I. may not be No. 2, either, as Michael Buble's "Christmas" set will probably take the runner-up slot. We'll have a better idea how much "Red" and "Christmas" will sell by Dec. 21. (Why do we have a projection for T.I. but not Swift or Buble? Label sources can more easily forecast a new album's debut week after its first day in stores -- usually by Wednesday. However, holdover titles -- ones that have been on sale for more than a week -- behave differently than new albums. So sources can better project a holdover set's sales further on into the week -- usually by Thursday or Friday.) What else is set for a high debut on the Billboard 200? Likely the compilation benefit album "12-12-12 The Concert for Sandy Relief," which may move between 125,000 and 150,000. The digital-exclusive effort was culled from live performances during the Dec. 12 all-star concert at New York's Madison Square Garden. Sources say the 24-song Columbia Records set will be bolstered by more than 60,000 in pre-orders placed via the iTunes Store. A physical version of the album will arrive in stores on Jan. 22. Currently, none of the individual songs on the album are available to purchase a la carte. They range from Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" to Paul McCartney's "Helter Skelter." Absent from the set are any tunes by Kanye West, the only performer from the concert not represented on the album. The reason for the rapper's absence on the set was unclear at press time. Columbia told Billboard.biz it was unable to comment on the "12-12-12" album track listing. The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Dec. 27. For the next two weeks, because of the Christmas and New Year's holidays, the weekly top 10 recap story that normally posts on Wednesday morning will instead arrive on Thursday. Additionally, the charts on billboard.com and billboard.biz will refresh around 6 p.m. eastern on Dec. 27 and Jan. 3, instead of in the morning. I think 1D is going to stay strong and challenge her at least one of those weeks. Little Things will be high on the charts and they showed great consistent selling with "Up All Night" and "Take Me Home" seems to be following the trend.

Yes, might be that when all the kids have got their Xmas presents, pop fans rush to buy the album (as it's decent)

Good or bad "Damn TIP?" These sales are actually higher than I predicted, given his relatively weak hit (Ball), previous flop singles (Love This Life, Go Get It), and loss of public confidence after his arrest. TI is one of my favorite artists of all time, and I can honestly say that this is one of his better CDs, but to expect much higher than these numbers is absurd. He'll go gold because he has a solid fanbase and has at least 2-3 more decent radio singles.

The title of this thread is just...confusing at first...thought the date of 12/12/12 was in regards to HITS at first..then realized it was the Sandy Benefit album.
Wishing that Buble would have ruled the top of the charts for the past couple of weeks and moving forward. Oh well.

I didn't expect him to sell this well w/o any true radio presence & practically no promo (excluding his show).

Up All Night only spent one week in the T3 though, which isn't being consistently high. They charted 1-3-4-4-4. So that's 2 weeks in T3. But 5 weeks in the top 4 is definitely "consistently high." No it's not 10 weeks top 2 or whatever but saying that isn't good/high is just ridiculous, especially given sales this time of year being so high.

YOUR TOP 15: It's beginning to look a lot like (a Taylor Swift) Christmas. The Big Machine superstar will remain at #1 next week as we approach the final weekend before Christmas. Tomorrow marks the release of the Les Misérables soundtrack, just ahead of the film's Christmas Day release; the Hugh Jackman-Anne Hathaway OST may provide a challenge to Swift the following week, on the final chart of 2012. It may all come down to the onslaught of iTunes gift card redemptions, which could reach record levels this year. Meanwhile, Capitol's Essential Now That's What I Call Christmas rockets up the chart and into Top 15 contender status, thanks to 99 cent pricing from Amazon MP3. Here's the picture as we head into the weekend, assuming the Mayan apocalypse doesn't prevent us from having one:
Taylor Swift (Big Machine) 270-295k One Direction (Syco/Columbia) 150-175k Bruno Mars (Atlantic) 150-175k * T.I. (Grand Hustle/Atlantic) 150-175k Michael Bublé (Reprise) 140-160k Rod Stewart (Verve) 120-135k * 12/12/12: The Concert For Sandy Relief (Columbia) 95-110k Phillip Phillips (19/Interscope) 90-100k Mumford & Sons (Glassnote) 80-90k Alicia Keys (RCA) 80-90k Now 44 (Capitol) 70-80k P!nk (RCA) 70-80k Essential Now That's What I Call Christmas (Capitol) 70-80k Adele (XL/Columbia) 70-80k Justin Bieber (Island/IDJ) 65-75k Lady Antebellum (Capitol Nashville) 65-75k Blake Shelton (Warner Bros. Nashville) 65-75k Jason Aldean (Broken Bow) 65-75k

Phillip Phillips has had some really good exposure so I hope the label doesn't screw up his album going forward. If he could have another successful single it would be good for him AND Idol. If he can somehow get a third this should have no problem going platinum.
If Red does well the last week of the year with gift cards and such, 3 million might be a stretch but certainly within reach to close out 2012.
Overall Christmas sales seems so much lower this year. After a new year I think all albums are going to fall HARD. More so than in years past. No one is going to be immune to this, though I hope I'm surprised.

Quite a holdup for Bruno Mars- but maybe not so shocking, given it's the week leading up to Christmas.

Phillip will probably be Platinum just in time for his Idol performance in March/April where they will present him with his plaque live on television.
