If the DJ at my wedding played this song I'd fire him on the spot and plug in my iPod and put on Lady Gaga.

Love this. At 6 plays it's the most listened to song on iTunes/last.fm for me. Yay for low ass numbers after resetting everything.

Lol at your pompous response, please. I may have to snatch your crown. Don't make me, it won't leave you looking good as our King.

There's a poll on my online magazine's facebook page and looks like people are a tad underwhelmed. Although we only have 3 votes so far so maybe it's not the best barometer...

FINALLY got to listen to this.
It's definitely not as immediate as LILY or SB were as lead singles, but I'm diggin' it. Jay-Z's part is a bit underwhelming, but as a whole, I enjoy the song. I can see where many people might call it a grower, and I can see why many people would be underwhelmed, but I primarily listen to country these so I'm not concerned with what's been done before. I enjoy it, it sounds good, it's laid back and sexy, and that's all I need.
I listened on All Access so I heard the radio edit and was therefore apparently spared the intro. ;)

I agree that this is a smidgen underwhelming, but I suspect that it'll grow on me like Bruno's "Locked Out of Heaven" did. Hopefully, I'll find some good deals on Justified and FutureSex/LoveSounds once The 20/20 Experience comes out.

I love this... This is exactly what I wanted.. Who was it? That you and I were talking about RnB making a very nice comeback in 2013? Anybody see it yet? No. I really think it's dead (on the Pop charts). Blame social media, microjournaling,Twitter, Max Martin, etc. So many people expect instant gratification, and R&B--for me at least--is always more appreciated in the long run. Also, everyone has their expectations set way too high...or their ears are just skewed from/accustomed to the pop monopolists that keep putting out, for the most part, the crap we've come to associate with that instant gratification. Moreover, I think this new generation scares the shite out of talented acts with integrity that survived post-90's -- like Mariah, Justin, No Doubt, etc., and I do think that has an effect on their writing. Still, I love this. When I say "everyone," I don't mean everyone here. If you're in here just to bitch about it and have never been a fan of his work, you're probably not going to read this anyway because it's more than 150 characters...but f**k off.

I love this song. I think dance music is just getting over done and pop needs to stay fresh. The last Urban revival was with hip hop. This time it's with alternative sounding R&B.

Overwhelming response to this song. Whether it's positive or negative, there is interest in JT and this whole project.
I'm pretty sure it's all going to work out.

So why is everybody raving about S&T but people hate Triumphant and Girl On Fire? They all sound the same to me. Because: (1) Triumphant? I've never heard that one. (2) GOF is fine. (3) They sound nothing alike. Not in tempo, not in melody, not in terms of sounding like they're from the same era, etc. Yeah, they all BPMs lower than 128, but that's about it.

I think the R&B we've become accustomed to in the 90s and 00s is dead (at least for the time being). I don't think the genre is dead though. Social media and Twitter are exactly what has helped R&B acts like Frank Ocean and The Weeknd become so popular. R&B is headed in that direction, and away from the panty dropping and club oriented R&B that pop programmers started running away from around 2008/2009.

I loved this from the first listen. I love it more than LILY and Sexyback. Sexyback had to grow on me. I'm so happy to see how well it is doing so far.

So a few more people have voted in my online magazine's fb poll and it looks like people are in between love and just ok, which bodes well for the overall growth of this song. Here's the link if you guys want to vote too, I didn't put it in my first post: www.facebook.com/amplifiedmagazine

I really enjoy the whole vibe - this is my favourite hat that JT dons - smooth r&b. For me, the least effective part of the song is Jay's rap. To me, it's unmemorable and unnecessary.

LOVE that article from Billboard.
I am truly impressed with JT and respect him after this release. He went out on a limb, he recorded something totally different than anything on pop radio right now. And HE KNOWS that he's big enough to have this kind of influence to where he is reshaping pop music of 2013. It's truly amazing.
After a couple listens, I love this song. It's different, innovative, and just plain perfectly creative. I never bought "FutureSex/LoveSounds", but did enjoy all of those singles. And for $6.99 on Best Buy's website, I think it's worth the purchase.

I came around and I like this. I need a version without the intro & Jay-Z tho.

Not a big fan of this to be honest. I expected a lot more. Sounds more like a solid album track than a huge comeback lead single. It will be interesting to see what happens.

Blehhhhh. So disappointed right now. The entirety of Future Sex/Love Sounds was miles better than this. I was hoping he'd come back with a "As Long As You Love Me" kinda song

Does anybody else hear 'Ain't No Other Man' in the horns after that chant in the beginning?
