Glad to see Gaga (and 1D) hit #1. Curious why certain songs won't be year-end? Is it because they're still charting?

2013 SWH Top 75 Countdown
Chart Tracking Period: 6 January 2013 - 28 December 2013 (51 Weeks)
Comment(s) - The bottom 5 songs on the list did not appear on the weekly Top 10 but managed to qualify for the end-of-year chart. - The highest charting non-Number One song is “I Knew You Were Trouble” by Taylor Swift. The track is at No.25 on the year-end chart, earning a 9-week chart run with 49 points despite peaking at No.2 only. - The lowest charting No.1 song is “La La La” by Naughty Boy featuring Sam Smith. The track is at No.38 on the end-of-year countdown, earning a 7-week chart run with 39 points. - Once again, Taylor Swift has the most number of appearances on the SWH Top 75 Countdown, having a total of 7 songs on the chart. - With the exception of Rihanna’s “What Now” which clocked a mere three weeks on the weekly Top 10, all the songs which have charted on the SWH Top 10 Countdown this year have a chart run of at least four weeks.
Awards MOST OUTSTANDING MALE ARTISTES 1. Kanye West - 115.5 - Diamonds [with Rihanna]: 55/2 = 27.5 - Black Skinhead: 48 - Bound 2: 40 Kanye West released his latest critically acclaimed album “Yeezus” in the middle of the year, spawning two singles which performed respectably well on the weekly charts, both earning year-end Top 40 placings. However, it was in his collaboration with Rihanna on “Diamonds” that he really shone, making him the “Most Outstanding Male Artiste of 2013”. Kanye West may possess a sharp tongue which spews out anything and everything politically incorrect, and critics will continue to judge him as an overly egotistical and self-aggrandising figure. In the end, however, such self-proclamations of greatness are almost justified as this man continues to surpass expectations and achieve incredible feats, making it fully deserving that he should be the top male artiste for the year. 2. Justin Timberlake - 111 - Mirrors: 62 - Holy Grail [with Jay Z]: 57/2 = 28.5 - Suit & Tie [with Jay Z]: 41/2 = 20.5 Justin Timberlake took a musical hiatus over the last five years as he embarked on several movie projects, including the critically acclaimed “The Social Network”, before suddenly re-appearing in the music industry this year with an avalanche of new material. This over-achiever released two albums in 2013 in a two-piece project dubbed “The 20/20 Experience”, both of which reached No.1 in the US and were successful releases all around the world. In addition, he collaborated with renowned rapper Jay Z on several new tracks, all of which culminated in the “Legends of the Summer” stadium tour which spanned North America and London. Two of these collaborations (“Holy Grail” and “Suit & Tie”) performed decently on the weekly chart, making the final Top 40 at the end of the year. However, it is in his solo effort “Mirrors” that the Prince of Pop truly shines, in a sleek yet moving ballad which is among the Top 10 songs of 2013. On the whole, Justin Timberlake has clocked four weeks at the No.1 position on the weekly charts this year, proving his adaptability and versatility in today’s music industry even after a long absence. 3. Ed Sheeran - 82 - Give Me Love: 52 - Everything Has Changed [with Taylor Swift]: 32/2 = 16 - Kiss Me: 14 Spending much of this year being the opening act for Taylor Swift on her “Red Tour”, Ed Sheeran didn’t accomplish much musically in 2013 as he rode the last waves of popularity from his debut album “+”. While his slow acoustic record “Kiss Me” and cute collaboration with Taylor Swift on “Everything Has Changed” had modest chart runs, “Give Me Love” stood out for topping the weekly chart for two weeks, almost hitting the Top 20 in the end-of-year list. With new collaborations with the likes of Lupe Fiasco and Naughty Boy, alongside plans to release a second studio album, 2014 seems to be shaping up quite nicely for Ed Sheeran.
MOST OUTSTANDING FEMALE ARTISTES 1. Taylor Swift - 273 [Hotshot Artiste of 2013] - Begin Again: 66 - Highway Don’t Care [with Tim McGraw]: 60/2 = 30 - Red: 51 - I Knew You Were Trouble: 49 - 22: 44 - Everything Has Changed [with Ed Sheeran]: 32/2 = 16 - Sweeter Than Fiction: 17 This is the third time where Taylor Swift has claimed the prestigious honours of “Most Outstanding Female Artiste” as well as “Hotshot Artiste of the Year”. She storms the year-end Top 75 with an impressive seven charting entries, three of which topped the weekly charts for a combined total of six weeks. Her dominance in the music industry is almost unparalleled, and Swift’s ability to rope in big names like Ed Sheeran, Austin Mahone, Neon Trees and Guy Sebastian to be opening acts for her “Red Tour” only serves to further reflect her status as one of pop music’s biggest stars. Her fluid musical style which is versatile and constantly evolving is testament to her willingness to work with other musicians from different backgrounds, and experiment with various production methods. A driven and passionate singer-songwriter, Swift has been duly rewarded with numerous accolades, including two Grammy nominations for her latest “Red” album, as well as the honour of being the biggest artiste in 2013 overall. 2. Birdy - 80 - The District Sleeps Alone Tonight: 66 - Wings: 14 It is with heavy irony that the top two female artistes of 2012 swap places this year and Jasmine van den Bogaerde has to, unfortunately, settle for the runner-up position. While the lead single “Wings” from her latest studio album “Fire Within” only had a modest chart run on the weekly Top 10, it is her cover of The Postal Service’s “The District Sleeps Alone Tonight” which truly makes a mark in 2013, reaching No.6 on the end-of-year listing. With her new LP, Birdy aims to become a staple on the airwaves and in music devices, giving her a shot to reclaim the title of “Most Outstanding Female Artiste” in the upcoming year. 3. Demi Lovato - 66 - Heart Attack: 42 - Made In The USA: 24 After a brave battle with drugs, alcohol and body image issues, she released her fourth studio album this year dubbed “Demi” to mark her comeback into the music industry. The LP spawned two singles which climbed to the Top 3 on the weekly charts, of which “Heart Attack” made it to the Top 40 at the end of the year. Embarking on side projects such as being a guest star on the fifth season of the television series “Glee”, as well as recording songs for soundtracks of “The Mortal Instruments” and “Frozen”, Lovato’s dedication to shake off her dark past and improve herself is admirable, making her a respectable role model and very much deserving of her No.3 placing as one of the year’s most outstanding female artistes.
MOST OUTSTANDING GROUPS/BANDS 1. The Script - 210 - Millionaires: 82 - If You Could See Me Now: 75 - Six Degrees Of Separation: 53 The Script has the honours of being the “Most Outstanding Group/Band of the Year” for a third time. With their latest studio album “#3”, their three charting singles all reached the No.1 spot on the weekly Top 10, for an impressive total of ten weeks at the summit. They also end up dominating the top two podium positions on the SWH Top 75 Countdown, claiming the prestigious honours of having “Song of the Year” for “Millionaires”. This Irish band has indeed gone from strength to strength - they performed at the Fort Canning Park a couple of years back to a medium sized crowd of a few thousand people, but came back to Singapore this year for their “#3 World Tour”, now playing for a live audience of close to ten thousand fans at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. With their lyrics having an impressive ability to touch the heart, this band truly deserves the No.1 placing as the “Most Outstanding Group/Band for 2013”. 2. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - 131.9 - Thin Line [with Buffalo Madonna]: 55/2 = 27.5 - Ten Thousand Hours: 47 - Thrift Shop: 45 - White Walls [with Schoolboy Q & Hollis]: 37/3 = 12.4 One of the biggest breakthrough artistes of the year, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis burst onto the mainstream music scene in 2013 with their second studio album “The Heist”, which is replete with ingenious lyrics and impactful production. The LP spawned four charting singles, all of which made it to the Top 40 at the end of the year, with the hip hop duo earning a cumulative six weeks at the top of the weekly charts. Such success is anything but overrated - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have been lauded for their social commentary and insights into the human condition. Their collaborative project explores notions of identity, materialism, love, religion, et cetera. For daring to delve into the socially taboo, culturally sensitive issues which often get swept under the rug of modern society, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are fully deserving of being the second most outstanding group/band of the year. 3. Fun. - 92 - Carry On: 66 - Why Am I The One: 26 Last year’s most outstanding group/band of the year drops to the No.3 position in 2013. Fun. continued to release singles from their second studio album “Some Nights” this year, with “Why Am I The One” and “Carry On” enjoying respectably long chart runs. The latter hit No.1 on the weekly Top 10 for a couple of weeks, reaching the prestigious Top 5 territory on the year-end charts. While Nate Ruess and co. may not have been very active in the music scene of late, they still manage to be one of the biggest groups in 2013.

Glad to see Gaga (and 1D) hit #1. Curious why certain songs won't be year-end? Is it because they're still charting? Yeap my chart policy only allows for falloffs to appear on the year-end chart otherwise it'll be unfair to have a song split between both years. Also yeap even though I am not a Little Monster I do love her latest single, did you listen to the version which features Xtina?

Yeah, once I looked at your chart and the inelligible songs, it was pretty clear. :) But yes I have! I think it's decent, but I prefer R. Kelly on the song. What about you? Edit: I see your top 75 now! Don't know or like too much of your top 10, but nice to see Selena, Gaga, Lorde, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (Ten Thousand Hours, nice choice!), Zedd, One Direction, and more. :)

Also yes I think we are part of the minority who likes R. Kelly's collaboration more

Gaga continuing to hold up well, although sad she couldn't sneak back to #1 this week. It is quite rare for songs to rebound (to No.1) on my chart but tbh I'm really not much of a Gaga fan but this is imo one of her stronger singles apart from "Marry The Night"

#3 - Never heard this one, don't know why because I really like Calvin Harris' music! Are you from the US? Cause #3 is Calvin Harris's latest single but it was put out in the uk first, (I think) you'll like it!

Sad at the dropping songs but nice to see Sail at #1! I thought I was late debuting it a couple months ago.
