This is the famous theme song from 'Sanford & Son'. If your memory of it involves the sound of typical cheap TV speaker of the 70s or 80s, you should check out the real song and hear it on a good stereo or headphones. I don't know if it was ever a radio hit or not, but I heard it not long ago on an elevator and went home and downloaded it. Excellent little piece of 70s funk from one of that era's masters.
The TV show was funny in the early years, too.
EDIT: oops. Forgot the subtitle.

Huh ... when I downloaded it, it was just called "Sanford And Son Theme" ... but that was about a year and a half ago, so they may have relabeled it with its "real" name.

I download this several years ago of Quincy's 20th Century Masters Collection. It was labeled "Sanford And Son Theme/The Streetbeater". Cool track!

What was that other Q song that became Austin Powers' theme? Bossa Nova something?

Another Quincy Jones creation "Chump Change" became the theme to the 1972 New Bill Cosby Show and the 1974-1975 game show Now You See It.
