Can someone tell me why there is never a "Pop" subchart? Literally every other genre has it but Billboard seems to shy away from doing Pop/Top 40 charts besides the Top 40 Airplay chart.

I don't know but what they do have seems a tad redundant. Not sure why theer are 2 separate charts for R&B and R&B/Hip-Hop

Mostly because you just can't. There really isn't a definitive pop genre. Most of what's popular on pop radio can fit into r&b, rap, hip-hop, country, dance, etc.

I just think it's unfair for the songs/artists that don't fit into those categories. Like, what chart does Avril Lavigne fit into? None because they don't have any chart that fits into her category. They'll have two R&B charts but no Pop ones.

Seeing the genre breakdowns gives some additional insight into streaming listening habits. Interesting how the Rock, R&B, and Latin charts have older songs charting, while the others contain songs that are all relatively current.
Also, the lowest song on each genre chart to still be in the overall Top 50:
Rock: "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark" (#6 / #49) Rap: "Bandz a Make Her Dance" (#19 / #50) R&B: "Pour It Up" (#4 / #47) Country: "Wagon Wheel" (#1 / #40) Latin: Nothing on the overall chart Dance/Electronic: "Don't You Worry Child" (#8 / #44)
(skipped R&B/Hip Hop since I'm guessing it would be very rare that Billboard would chart something here but not allow it on either R&B or Rap)
I mean, I guess we already knew that dance, rap, and to a degree alternative songs were the ones getting the biggest boosts from streaming, but still cool to have more data.

It seems alternative does well on On-Demand, but not so well on Youtube, whilst hip hop does well on both. Dance/electronic is a weird one. You get people like Calvin Harris, Skrillex and Swedish House Mafia who do great with streaming, but most of the dance songs by pop or R&B singers didn't do very well on streaming, especially On-Demand streaming. It seems like actual dance DJs do well, but Chris Brown, Usher and Ne-Yo don't do so well on streaming (especially On-Demand) with the same type of music. Female adult contemporary artists like Kelly Clarkson and Pink, and country singers, seem to be hurt the most by streaming, although Just Give Me a Reason is doing very well. The streaming chart is definitely heavily male dominated, and according to Spotify, most of their users are male (not sure about Youtube and other sites). In contrast, most iTunes users are female, and most of the audience of top 40 radio are also female, so it's not surprising that the streaming chart looks somewhat different to what gets played on pop radio and what does well on iTunes.

why is Gangnam Style still doing so well? I mean....still being #1 is pretty huge, imo. Probably huger than the Hot 100 suggests. Who is streaming this?
