Tomorrow will be going against a +0.750 update or so, so it will be a little smaller but still big. Tuesday's update (corresponding to Monday's airplay) will be the 8th day effect.

The airplay sum for Hot 100 Airplay still may see an increase from the first week, as that was just for two days (36 million in BDS numbers). If it's been gaining an average of, say, 7m daily in BDS numbers, that would pout it at 49 million.

^ Do you really think Justin will sell 340K? He's already down to #6 on iTunes and the tracking week ends tonight. I see him selling 250K-280K at this point. That may not even be enough for Top 5. Billboard wasn't too confident when they gave their predictions so I think he could end up at #6 or #7 this week. I was just going by Billboard's estimate on that one. But even if sells 280k, it should still be enough for #5 even if it doesn't have any streaming points. So IMO it can debut anywhere in #2-5 slots.

There's an audio of the song on VEVO. That counts as streaming, right?

As of a couple of weeks ago, Billboard said VEVO was not a factor in streaming.

As of a couple of weeks ago, Billboard said VEVO was not a factor in streaming. They're a mess. Didn't they say VEVO was one of their sources for the streaming chart?

It may have been at one time, not sure. There were instances where Yahoo and AOL were contributors to passive streaming, but in certain weeks, it was just one or the other.

VEVO is tracked by Nielsen.
It was apparently never used by Billboard.

How much airplay did BTW have after one week? Remember the AI was different back then than it is now. 107.790 AI (higher than S&T even without taking into account the different in AI calibration). After a full week of airplay, it appeared at #4. Source. It entered Billboard's airplay chart at #6.

Justin Timberlake Makes Historic Debut On Pop Songs Chart by Gary Trust, N.Y. | January 21, 2013 2:15 EST Justin Timberlake's "Suit & Tie," featuring Jay-Z, makes a record-setting debut on Billboard's Pop Songs chart, which measures mainstream top 40 radio airplay, as monitored by Nielsen BDS, soaring in at No. 14. The song arrives with the highest first-week plays total in the chart's 20-year history and marks the highest bow for a song by a male artist. 'Suit & Tie' Makes Hot 100 Debut, Bruno Mars Still No. 1 "Suit" logged 6,045 plays in the Jan. 14-20 tracking week, with spins on all 157 of the Pop Songs chart's reporters, pushing it past Lady Gaga's "Born This Way," which opened (also at No. 14) with 4,602 plays the week of Feb. 26, 2011, for the highest debut-week plays sum on Pop Songs, which launched the week of Oct. 3, 1992. (The chart panel expanded from 141 to 157 reporters late last year.) With its No. 14 arrival, "Suit" takes over as the highest-debuting song by a male artist in the Pop Songs chart's archives. It bests the No. 19 entrance of Jon Secada's "If You Go" the week of May 14, 1994. Among all acts, only Mariah Carey's "Dreamlover" launched at a higher rank (No. 12, Aug. 14, 1993); "Suit" and "Born" now share the mark for the second-highest lift-off among all artists. Aiding the fast start for "Suit," several Clear Channel Media and Entertainment-owned Pop Songs panelists gave it top-of-the-hour plays last Monday (Jan. 14), while CBS Radio reporters played it heavily on its first day and stations in the Cumulus chain added it to rotation. Based on its first two days of airplay when the Billboard Hot 100 airplay/sales/streaming hybrid chart was tabulated on Wednesday (16), "Suit" debuted at No. 84. With a full week of airplay and sales, projected to reach upwards of 350,000 in opening-week downloads, the song could vault into the Hot 100's top five when the chart is refreshed on Wednesday (23) this week. 'Suit & Tie' Track Review | Where Has Justin Been? | '20/20' Worth The Wait? "Over the years, we've come to expect the unexpected with Justin's music, which I think is fantastic," says Sharon Dastur, program director of Pop Songs panelist WHTZ New York. With its retro-soulful vibe, "'Suit & Tie' doesn't sound like anything else out in pop music right now and we can certainly use those kinds of songs. We welcome Justin back with open arms." "Suit" concurrently roars onto the Rhythmic airplay chart at No. 14 and Adult Pop Songs at No. 22. www.billboard.com/news/justin-timberlake-makes-historic-debut-on-1008105062.story?utm_source=most_recent#/news/justin-timberlake-makes-historic-debut-on-1008105062.story?utm_source=most_recent

Slaaayyylor! Insane gain today. BUT Bruno refuses to die, and Justin's drop was not bad.
Will this 3. TAYLOR SWIFT ¨C I Knew You Were Trouble: 159.278 (+ 5.744)
be able to pass this
1. BRUNO MARS ¨C Locked Out Of Heaven: 207.080 (+ 1.150)
before this
18. JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE ¨C Suit & Tie f/JAY Z: 73.870 (- 27.324) ¨‹
catches up?

Record companies try to shoe horn in all of their releases around the last three months of the year. So january is always a slow month...i think its bad strategy to not have a steady stream of income coming in year around instead of treating music like a seasonal business. Pretty soon consumers will learn to only buy records at christmas time instead of buying the year around. Christmas time sales are a given. There is room for sales growth in the first and second quarter.

There is room for sales growth in the first and second quarter. I don't understand this logic. People in general spend less money on leisure related items after the holidays because of all of the money they spend on gifts. So most labels don't release new albums in January, because people are less likely to spend money on albums in January. They also don't release new albums in January because that generally means the lead single would be sent to radio right around the holidays when stations are playing Christmas music and year-end countdowns.

JT's drop wasn't even horrible. He's still in the Top 20! :o I take it more stations has been added? I think cuz JT lost a bunch of spins and audience, those spins are going to go towards other songs instead. So his 27 mil is being spread out amongst everything else.
