This is a song that reached #1 for 2 weeks in a popular Modern Rock radio station in Peru back in 1990. It was included in the first compilation of the Red Hot Organization (dedicated to fighting AIDS through pop culture): "Red Hot + Blue". The album was composed of covers to songs from Cole Porter. "Night and Day" in particular was written for the 1932 musical play Gay Divorce. U2's video was directed by Wim Wenders. I like U2's cover... it was some sort of initial departure from its previous sound and sort of a good part of the transition between the 80s and 90s sound. Voice, guitar, percussion and bass all took their turns to shine in this song.
