She looks fantastic with short hair, and I hope she keeps it like this.

Loved her performance on Black Girls Rock tonight. Also, two songs are available to stream from the Black Nativity soundtrack: Source

She looked amazing on the red carpet at the Soul Train Awards! She also performed I Can't Describe.

She looks great from the neck down! Her new single really grew on me since her performance on Black Girls Rock! I'm so glad she came back with something uptempo with the Cheryl Lynn meets Evelyn "Champagne" King vibe to it. If they re-market her as a contemporary soul diva then she might re-gain her audience. No more "Night Of My Life", "I Remember Me" or anything that appeals to Top 40 radio, just give her songs to establish an identity. I love the approach Tamar Braxton took and Jennifer should be having that same success if not more with her huge celebrity billing. I wish whoever wrote/produced "Stand Up" and "For Real" would magically re-appear in her career because those songs showcase her greatest vocal performances to date.
I feel like if this next album flops then she'll have the same career trajectory as the original Effie White who recorded for Arista 20 years ago.

I want her and Robin Thicke to hook up again. Giving Myself is still one of my favorites from her debut. I can see Pharrell producing something in than vein with the revival he's going towards.

Not sure what you mean because she never lost her audience. Her album sales prove that. You might not like Night Of Your Life, but it was critically acclaimed, one of the standouts from David Guetta's album, and had a decent placement on the Hot 100 without promotion. Jennifer even describes her voice as a tree with many branches. She shouldn't be boxed in, and it's nothing wrong with showing versatility. That's one of the factors why R&B is in the state its in. A good majority of the singers are working with the same producers and no one is willing to take risks.

A good majority of the singers are working with the same producers and no one is willing to take risks. When was the last time Jennifer had a hit? When was the last time she went on tour? She has lost her audience, it really is that simple. For all the hype that people like you give her, she should have more #1 hits than just "Spotlight" (mainly due to people's pity for her tragic losses). Weight Watchers can't sustain a career and none of her movies since Dreamgirls have remotely done anything to her celebrity. "Night of Your Life" reminds me of Martha Wash and look where she is in the annals of time. Jennifer doesn't have an identity anymore especially one that will translate to her core audience of black adults and church gays. I don't care what bullshit Jennifer says about her voice because its a lie. Her voice is the standard fat church girl (which is how she won people's hearts to begin with) and is why she excels at singing gospel or ol skool soul. Anything else is a FAIL coming from her because she doesn't know the subtleties and the nuances of phrasing and styling a song. She just knows how to belt. If her voice was versatile like Beyonce or Brandy then she could pull off showing musical diversity and artistic range but she's very limited and should really focus on marketing her strengths since her weaknesses remain in plain sight. One more thing, let me be crystal clear that her BGR! performance wasn't great because she gave a stellar vocal (she sung the same phrase over & over) and gave us an elderly Baptist church praise dance but more so Kim Burse & the BGR! house band who BREATHED LIFE into the production and really made it sizzle. They made me take notice of the song and its potential to help Jennifer regain her footing on the scene.
R&B/Soul is in a great state, I don't know who you listen to but I can easily name 10 great R&B albums that was released this year with varying producers and lots of risks. Check out Amel Larrieux's BLOCKBUSTER "Ice Cream Everyday".

The murders that occurred in her family happened after both Spotlight and the album was already released. So you cannot attribute the success to the song to that event.

I agree with a lot of what he said about her vocal style and i was rooting for her for a long time but i think I done lost some respect for her after Whitney's passing

Jennifer isn't some big flop of an artist as some people claim. Half of the singles from her albums have went top 10 on the R&B charts. If her voice isn't special, then it makes no sense as to why she has experienced success even if it's not the most monumental. Her covers of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and You Put A Move On My Heart proves she can utilize control and show off different styles of her voice. She just doesn't have much diversity in her own catalog. I hope that since she is more hands-on with crafting this album then everything will come together as it should've for her first two albums. Jennifer is respected in the industry and is a media darling. She will be just fine!

Yea, she's going to be on the right path with this third album. She's built up so much buzz(even if it's not all music).

She's doing a lot of promo for this song; they need to send it to Urban for the hell of it.

Jennifer Hudson to receive 'Favorite Humanitarian' at People's Choice AwardsJennifer Hudson will be recognized for something other than her singing and acting skills at this year’s People’s Choice Awards. The “Dreamgirls” star will receive the second annual Favorite Humanitarian award at this year’s ceremony, which airs live from the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on January 8th at 9 p.m. on CBS. Hudson will receive the award, which is presented by Walgreens, for her work with the Julian D. King Gift Foundation. The Foundation, which Hudson formed with her sister Julia Hudson in honor of their slain nephew Julian King, works to provide stability and positive experiences for children of all backgrounds so that they may grow to become productive, confident and happy adults, able to be positive influences on their communities. Hudson said that the award will bring a welcome spotlight to the Foundation. “Thank you for honoring me with the Favorite Humanitarian Award. My sister Julia and I were raised with the belief that helping others was always very important. I am so grateful that the People’s Choice Awards and Walgreens have come together in the same spirit,” Hudson said of the award. “This spotlight will provide us with the opportunity to share all the amazing work being done by the Julian D. King Gift Foundation for children in the city of Chicago and around the United States.” The award will be accompanied by a $100,000 donation to the Foundation. Customers can help increase the donation by up to an additional $100,000 by clicking on the People’s Choice Awards icon on Walgreens’ mobile app starting tomorrow. Source
