Im going to check him out on youtube. Im guessing hes good? He's got a few hot tracks, imo. But, I doubt he'll really blow up. Maybe with the help of Mimi, though, cause she loves enlisting up and coming talent. lol

I was kind of surprised she mentioned a new album coming out in May. That's 2 month's away and I would think a lead single would have to come out soon. Unless "Almost Home" is going to be included on the album as a bonus track. Is she definitly performing it on Idol or was that just a rumor? I would think she and her label would want her first Idol performance to be something from her upcoming cd. If their really going to push "Almost Home" and it's not going to be included on her cd a May release date seems a little strange.

Mariah's albums rarely come out when they're scheduled to. The Emancipation of Mimi and E=MC2 both had initial tentative release dates and took another few months beyond that to actually come out. Unless she finishes this album in the next couple weeks and has a single ready, there's no way the album is actually coming out in May (even then it wouldn't be a lot of time between the single release an album release). I'd say a May single release is more likely.

I was thinking the single also^^ and arent we already almost a year past when she was going to ORIGINALY release an album Last summer I heard that an album wasn't even close to being done, which is why it was particularly surprising when she released "Triumphant". Recently, like I posted, I heard that all of her JD material got rejected by the label (which seemed to be the bulk of the material), so who knows what's actually going on? My worry now is that they'll let her release a not so good album as long as she has a single to promote on Idol. They probably don't expect much from her after the first single anyway at this stage of her career.

I think she only does it cause she's loyal in helping her friends out finacially. I wouldnt mind if JD gave her a uptempo song though Get ur number, Its like that, Cruise control all completely differeant and hot. But his balleds, midtempos are too similar to WBT and DFAU. She doesn't need that! Where did u read JD got rejected?

I usually like what Mariah and JD come up with, it just gets repetitive if they have more than 1 or 2 songs on the album.
I definitely love songs like "Thanx 4 Nothin" and "Last Kiss", but we don't need more than that.
I'm incredibly excited to hear what she and hit-boy came up with, especially if it's some crazy ballad!

Had a few "Mariah moments/thoughts" in the past few days I thought I'd share...the first relates to the new Hot 100 formula and AIWFC...I don't know how many views that Fallon appearance got in a single week but...the possibilities...
Also, for the past, say month, I've heard Mariah songs - ones not typically recurrent on radio - in my local supermarket. So random - I heard My All, Forever and...the kicker, yesterday they were playing Never Too Far. THAT one...I don't think I even heard it when it was the current single. Crazy!

The Jimmy Fallon performance had something like 7-9 million views in a week, I think (unsure of how many of those were from the USA, of course).
Jamaica- what does that have to do with anything? Mimi's working with producers with whom she's previously worked with, and hasn't scored big hits with as of late. She unlikely wouldn't work with Wally A again, though, because there were apparently were some issues between them.

Im saying how can someone say she shouldn't work with Dupri because he hasn't had a hit in years, but then they say she should work with someone else who hasn't had a hit in years.

A hit in much longer... People talk about her going back to Walter Afanasieff like she'd instantly start cranking out 90s classics for the 10s. Does anyone consider how far Walter himself has fallen off in the past decade and a half? Not to mention, Mariah had a falling out with him so anyone hoping that their chemistry would be right back to where it was in the early 90s has their head in the clouds. If she worked with him at this point, it would most likely be because she's gritting her teeth and doing it for the fans, not because she's looking to rekindle the chemistry between them.

I highly doubt Mariah will work with Walter anytime soon, if ever again. Let's not kid ourselves.

..and Mariah doesn't seem to be benevolent enough to put herself back into the hornet's nest for her fans. Working with Walter will most likely remind me of Tommy, so I really don't think that's gonna happen.

I highly doubt Mariah will work with Walter anytime soon, if ever again. Let's not kid ourselves. I don't give a crap about what people say about Walter. "Hero" is my least favorite collaboration between the two, but you can't deny that the melodies they came up with were out of this world. She started making up for that come TEOM with amazing harmonies. The difference between JD/B.Cox and Walter is that Walter was a true co-writer. They'd go back and forth. They inspired each other. JD comes up with some stupid, simple drum machine loop, B.Cox plays like four chords that he likes, and Mariah tries her damnedest to find a melody (and sometimes it works -- WBT, Last Kiss, even Shake It Off). When they worked with Emanuel Seal, he definitely added something to their collaborations. I don't think Walter should ever produce another Mariah record again in his life, but I think together they'd still be capable of writing incredible ballads. Even "Lead The Way" has a pretty melody, and I think that if they had finished it together, it'd be a hell of a lot better. Their collaborations just have more depth (when it comes to ballads) to them. He wasn't THAT cheesy. I know Mark Shaiman (?) wrote with Mariah, too, but I'm not here for that theatrical shit...just being honest. Also, Mariah can actually sing songs she writes with Walter live (case in point: Australia..."My All"...). Mariah and Walter wrote "Can't Let Go," "Close My Eyes," "Anytime You Need A Friend" -- huge fan favorites. Ideally, for me, she'd still write all of her ballads with Walter and just have someone else produce them.

..and Mariah doesn't seem to be benevolent enough to put herself back into the hornet's nest for her fans. Working with Walter will most likely remind me of Tommy, so I really don't think that's gonna happen. Yes, Tommy Mottola - her biggest fan in the 90's who knew something about quality control. Yeah, marrying each other was idiotic, but Tommy Motolla, even more than LA Reid, ALWAYS looked out for Mariah's career. Their relationship was awful. It probably WAS a two-way sided street, and he probably was extremely overprotective, and I don't doubt that he was emotionally abusive and and probably pretty scary at times -- but that's their personal relationship. Yes. he gave some of her crappy material to J.Lo. Yes, he wanted "Forever" as a single instead of "Underneath The Stars" -- but UTS would've flopped, as beautiful as it is. And yes, he purposefully didn't push Crybaby or Can't Take That Away. But do you REALLY think he sabotaged them? She had obvious hits on Rainbow (albeit generic and very of-the-time): "How Much" and "Ex Girlfriend." Again, can you blame him for not personally assuring that her songs got played and her singles were bought? I know some people like those songs on Rainbow, but anyone with an ear for radio, especially at that time, would've never been behind those singles -- not even L.A. Reid. Tommy may not have loved Mariah, but he loved her career, and he succeeded in making her dream come to fruition. He wasn't concerned about ballads or uptempos -- if he heard a song he thought the public would connect with, then he'd put his foot down. After TEOM, LA became another "yes" person. She needs someone like Tommy sans the marriage...someone that believes in her, knows her immense talent, encourages her, and isn't afraid to tell her when her ideas suck. Yes, some of her albums had so many songs that arguably could have been singles, but it's hard to say ANY of her single choices pre-divorce were bad. I really wish Iovine had just taken over IDJ along with Interscope. Oh, and Mariah does care about what the fans want: way too much. The only albums in the past 16 years where she hasn't were Butterfly,TEOM, and E=MC2 (with the exception of "Bye Bye") Every other time she caters to everyone, and we get an album of rehash after rehash. Her fanbase is so small right now that she could put out ANYTHING and many would love it. Right now, she's also at a point where people who have never heard of her are commenting on her music from the two decades all over YouTube. She needs those casual fans on board.

Mariah has been working with Jermaine since 1993. 4 years shy of when her and Walter started working together. They have yet to have any kind of falling out so I don't see any near future where they will not work with each other in any capacity. I will forever be indebted to Jermaine Dupri in some form for helping co-write and produce Always Be My Baby. Now that is a true songwriters blueprint in melody.

JD served his purpose so did Tommy and Walter but now it's 2013 can we move into the future and leave the past alone. She needs to find the next creative producer who will serve his purpose in this stage of her career.

Well 'someone' needs to tell her that before it's too late.lol Who am I kidding, I'm pretty sure it's been brought up to her by someone. I know money shouldn't be that big of issue as far as paying the producers and I would assume it's not like a lot of producers have Mariah blacklisted. So I don't know what's the deal.

I will forever be indebted to Jermaine Dupri in some form for helping co-write and produce Always Be My Baby. Now that is a true songwriters blueprint in melody. Me too. From the synth guitar intro to the fade out. My favorite Mariah songs are CLG, ABMB, and Fantasy. Also, Manuel Seal co-wrote for both ABMB and WBT. He no longer works for So So Def. And it's not like I hate JD. I just don't think he does it for her anymore (and I wouldn't have minded 3 JD songs pre-Triumphant), but I guess we'll see. Other than Hit Boy, she's worked with the same "bag." If they all did ballads, it's not hard to imagine how they sound. JD/B.Cox - midtempo cookie cutter ballads, Big Jim -- their neo-soul 70's ballads and perhaps his Walter-attempts (like "Languishing," "IWKWLI," "Lead The Way") Rodney - a slightly poppish ballad, probably like AH, but less cheesy and actually more pop (his ballads with Brandy, Melanie Amarao, Beiber), Q-Tip -- maybe a breezy midtempo if it makes the album, Hit Boi -- a sparse, rhythmic midtempo/ballad, The Dream -- a catchy as hell midtempo or a lush ballad (I'm hoping for the former), etc. I'm actually most looking forward to The-Dream collaboration, as much as I disliked a lot of Memoirs. I just hope she takes her weekends to work with just a few more people...get those last four great songs in or whatever instead of rushing rushing out what she has now in May. Azoff, it seems, is doing her tour stuff (she already has those supposed May dates booked), and Rodney, who knows what he's going to do. She can be friends with Steve (who has no final say on music and, along with LA, chose IWKWLI as a single) and Erik Wong (who's managed her IDJ promo since TEOM, but TEOM also had Benny), but ultimately, if Barry Weiss doesn't like it, he's not going to stop her from putting it out, but he won't make it a priority over other Def Jam acts. If the label can't get her to change, they're going to want that May date to get as many Idol sales as they can when they can, regardless of the quality of the album. All that being said, I have a feeling Mariah might put a foot down if she goes to sequence or something and feels less than confident. I actually think AH not doing well might actually be a good thing in that she may go record more uptempos.

I'm just saying I don't think there would be as many groans if she said she had an album full of ballads and she co-wrote one with Walter as opposed to wondering whether she's executive producing and picking like 5 Jermaine tracks on a 10 song album.

Karen Kwak tried to hook her up with a lot of producers not that long ago. The deal is that Mariah, like Jazzy said, is complacent. While a lot of us don't like the idea of her working with JD, there were thousands of tweets on her to Twitter from people that tweet her 24/7 that were, again, like "I loved Triumpahnt!" "Return of the Dream Team!" "Next Single of the Decade!" So she's complacent, and any doubts she may have are squelched.

We as fans need to actually tweet and become real with her. She does it for the lambs and the more vocal ones on the social networks have their head so far up her ass they tell her everything is gold. It's not. It's really not.
