^ Both Moroccan and Monroe are making a cameo (on the same song) on the album.
It sounds like this album is going to be an emotional rollercoaster. I. CAN'T. WAIT. :'(

What was her injury? I didn't realize it was serious enough to, like, halt everything.

I thought she was bring dramatic at first, but after a while... when she still had the cast on after MONTHS, I figured it was pretty serious. I'm just glad to see, now, that she is still working on this album. This update got me very excited *again* for what's to come!

Good interview! Interesting comments about the Butterfly album. He's totally wants to work with her again. Pick up the phone and call him, Mimi!!! This is the type of merger you should be making.

Of course he wants to work with her again SHE made his production POPPIN' with that unmistakable voice that cascades from wall to motherfucking wall and that butter like tone and innate ability to make a orgasmic melody. Neither of them are in that mid 90's space so I advise her to not look back.

Sometimes I wish they worked together again so people would stop asking them to cause they think that's what will make her get them #1's again.

I thought I was the only one that LOVED "Music Box". That's one of her most underrated album tracks.

Why is it that everytime someone says they want Mariah and Walter to work together again, people against it automatically go "you're not getting #1's, this is not the 90's that stuff doesn't work anymore, yada yada yada" ...um, no s**t! And besides, who says that if Mariah and Walter worked together again it would be with the sole intention of creating #1's? Maybe Mariah expressed she's open to collaborating with him again for the sake of simply making good music, and not driven by chart success per se. Who knows?
Anyway, personally, the reason I'd love to hear some new music from Mariah & Walter is because I *know* it would be of quality. I couldn't care less about #1's or it potentially sounding "dated" or whatever (I'd take an old-school, power ballad over a staccato sung, beat-ballad any day, by the way).

Not really here for her and Walter reuniting. If you want to listen to that, you already have multiple albums.
I also don't really see it working because their musical interests are different. It's somewhat well known that she was instructed how to sing on most of their material. If they did stuff today, she wouldn't sing in the straightforward manner that would go with those arrangements most likely. She'd try to do some vocal inflections and layerings that would clash with the production and the end result would be murky. Her passion obviously lies in more R&B vocal stylings, so it makes sense for her to seek out R&B producers (inspired and capable ones, not what JD is today), instead of AC ones. Leave that to Josh Groban and Celine Dion.

It's not like all of their work was as AC as 'Hero'. Plus 'AIWFCIY' which has the Phil Spector sound, aka R&B music in the 60s.

LOL, it's always the same arguments and counter-arguments rehashed in these Walter conversations! With regard to the whole AC/R&B thing, Walter co-produced songs like "Underneath The Stars," "All I Want For Christmas Is You," "I Am Free," "Close My Eyes," and "Fourth of July". I don't hear no Josh Groban overdone, sweeping s**t in any of that. Just saying.
EDIT: Oh, Mario beat me to it! lol
Anyway, from Jermaine Dupri's facebook:

Even with the R&B influence, those records still lean more towards AC than most of the stuff she's done in recent years (especially something like IAF). I also can't really see her doing a record like AYNAF today. A gospel type record yes, but not one like that. AIWFCIY was done with a specific purpose in mind as a kind of pastiche, I don't see either of them seriously suggesting that as a direction. I'm not knocking any of those records, they're among my favorites from her (well except Fourth Of July). However, they're stamped hard with a sound of a past era and a different Mariah Carey. If they went back in the studio, I highly doubt they would come out like those, especially judging by the records she's done for her last few projects.

Well I don't exactly want them to produce more AC ballads. Who knows, they could find a compromise and create an evolved sound or they could just write together and have someone else produce.

Of course he wants to work with her again Exactly. He hasn't been relevant in years and is not getting much work at this point. Of course he wants to work with her. The question is if Mariah wants to work with him. I really have no interest in her working with him and no expectations that they'd create magic at this point. Neither are in the same space they were in 20 years ago. Walter's sound didn't really change and the quality of his compositions started to slide over a decade ago. Mariah gained more creative freedom, and her sound really diverged from the type of music she was doing with Walter. There's also the personal issues Mariah had with Walter when she was going through her divorce and in the years following. I just don't think Mariah would think there's a lot to gain by burying that and going back to him to do music.

Thanks for posting that interview Mario. :)
Interesting to know the rumors last year where somewhat true....they almost worked together. I personally would love for them to give it a try and see what they can come up with today. We can't deny they both created masterpieces together.

The question is if Mariah wants to work with him. In the interview Walter said Randy Jackson contacted him while Mariah was working on Merry Christmas II You and told him there'd be a possibility for them to write together. Why would he do that if Mariah wasn't interested?

Why would he do that if Mariah wasn't interested? A possibility doesn't mean yes. I don't know Randy's personality or the way he works well enough to know whether he's the type to say "maybe" when it's a "no". But I do know Mariah canned him as her manager.

Well, in his interview with OK! Magazine, April this year, he mentioned that he and Mariah will most likely collaborate again. I don't think that was ever posted here on Pulse: www.ok-magazine.ru/stars/interview/item25864.phpHe said that then, plus he now says in that radio interview that Mariah is open to working with him. I doubt he would run his mouth like that if he knew there was no interest on Mariah's end.

He also made it sound like he's likely to collaborate with Ariana Grande in that interview, when her team hasn't even contacted him. I didn't hear him say Mariah is open to working with him in that interview. I heard him say that Randy Jackson told him there was a possibility.

So is it too late now for her new album to come out by the end of the year? I would think so, as it doesn't sound like it's completed. I don't even think they have a single picked out. This album sounds like an important one for Mariah, so hopefully she'll tour next year.

I wouldn't want them to try to push an album out now, with all the big releases that drop during the pre-Christmas rush. A TEOM-like rollout seems like the best idea- drop a single Jan/Feb 2014 for an early spring album release.
