apo, Mimi does that kind of theme well, and always has. What were you expecting to hear her sing about, nuclear war?

apo, Mimi does that kind of theme well, and always has. What were you expecting to hear her sing about, nuclear war? Well, no, lol, but she's 40+ so she definitely could slip in more substance other than complete infatuation or complete heartache when someone left? It's not like she's not capable of that. H.A.T.E.U runs across similar themes but it's more interesting conceptually and musically. My feeling is that she went for a song "that everyone can relate with" and ended up with this (WBT rehash, let's face it). Personally if I want something not terribly evocative I would prefer uptempos and something fun (Obsessed, ILT). Anyways, I don't want to be a party pooper. I do like the fact that we finally get something with a strong hook.

You're Mine is a B for me. I enjoyed Letting Go and Beautiful much more than this one. It's pretty cliche Mariah here.

But that's obviously a popular theme for her. Some time back, I expressed a desire to see her take on more thematic substance, but then I just said, fuhgetaboutit and just enjoy it. It's her thing, and if she does it well, that's all that matters.
YM isn't anything we haven't heard before, but it's smooth and silky, and like buttah, dahhhlinnngg.

Who is to say that she doesn't have more substantive material on the album, but she has to have something to sell the album initially. Also, this is a breath of fresh air from the monotony that radio has become in dance leaning material. The general population doesn't go to Mariah for substance. Her fans want it, but the general population wants a catchy, beautifully sung song from her.

83 and 138 on iTunes. Lamb power this morning. With radio deal and video premiere this evening, I wonder if this can hit top 10...

I loooooove it more and more that I listen to it! I like the remix, but then again it's OK compared to her other remixes.
My ranking of singles thus far:
1.) You're Mine: It's fresh, lyrically genius, and it sets her apart from what is on radio today, IMO.
2.) #Beautiful: Classic, smooth; too bad it wasn't more successful.
3.) The Art of Letting Go: I liked it. It's the perfect album track, but not a single. This is easily one of those songs to play at the funeral of other artists careers who just got snatched.
4.) Triumphant: I like this. But it's very urban, and there was no way pop would have eaten this up. Plus, it was too much to sing LIVE.

Listened to the original twice and remix once.
1. #B 2. TAOLG 3. YM
Song is a solid B for me, in terms of Mariah singles.

I probably have the strangest rankings:
1. Almost Home 2. Triumphant 3. #B 4. You're Mine 5. TAOLG
I can't say I love You're Mine, but maybe it will grow on me. It feels like a WBT re-hash to me... Almost Home & #B were so different. While the original of Triumphant is probably at #5 for me, I love the Pulse remix, and listen to it all the time while working out / running. Great anthem for the gym.
I think thematically, I am really over the "I loved you but now you're gone." I was really hoping for an "I'm in love.. .and love being in love" type of song. The lyrical similarities and musical similarties to many of her older songs is what is making this not as much of a stone groove winner for me. I do like the production though... I'm impressed... JD updated his sound a bit. Has classic JD elements, but it's a little fresher. I was worried about it sounding too dated with him producing it.

I love this song, but does anyone else think it doesnt sound as polished as it should be? Maybe its just me. Get that hit Mimi! My one issue with the track is the mixing of the lead vocal. Not enough reverb on the chorus, and the volume is amplified too much (there's clipping at points).

Only Mimi can gather everyone up like this! I'm thrilled with everybody's reactions. :)
Gonna go downstairs, get me an iced coffee liqueur beverage, and come back up and lay in bed waiting for the video while watching her radio interviews.

This and "#Beautiful" are my favorite 1-2 punch of Mariah singles in sooooooo long. If by 1-2 punch you mean a 3-5 punch, then sure, I'll agree.

So apperantly, the song does not have a CC deal. At least, thats what I'm hearing. I don't see that as bad thing if true, i dont particularly enjoy that 8th day drop.
