Lessons for the Lover is everything as far as R&B jams go. Still wear that song out, and have been for the past 2 years. Climax, I Care For U, What Happened to U, Dive, the title track, and Euphoria are all some of my favs in his catalog as well. For me the album slaughters HIS, RVR, and Versus.

Usher is taking back his album, UR, and "taking my time."

The singer-songwriter tells Billboard that the "album isn’t scheduled anymore." While UR was originally scheduled to be released this year.

"The album isn't scheduled anymore. I've basically taken it back. I'm taking my time with it," he tells Billboard. "At the end of the day, all of this is just about having fun. You get in the studio [and] go with how you feel."

Smart decision tbh. With SCTGITY picking up steam on his core formats, I'd say let it ride out and then release a sure fire crossover hit.

I highly doubt he'd be suddenly "taking his time" had either of his singles thus far blown up. Typical.

So many of his albums either got delayed or odd ish went down to throw the era off.

- 8701 only came after most of All About U, which was supposed to be released in Oct. 2000, leaked several months before; Usher tried to play it off like he didn't want that to be the way people were introduced to his album but I definitely recall the reaction to the leaks being rather meh. I don't think they would have kept pushing it back and eventually ditching it entirely if it seemed like people liked it.
- Confessions was supposed to be released in Nov. 2003 but got pushed back to '04 because of "marketing issues"
- HIS was supposed to be released in Nov. 2007 but was pushed back to 2008. Also, Tameka
- RvR was supposed to be released in Nov. 2009 but was moved to 2010 (...ok seriously will this fool EVER be able to get a 4Q release out as scheduled, I mean damn). Also, there was a batch of leaked songs right after Papers had come out. They were LQ and AWFUL...I don't think any of that stuff ended up on the album.
- L4M - went through that really nasty custody hearing, which I suspect is what led to him doing substantially less promo to try to keep the era afloat after the release. He really should have pushed this album back as well, plus he made the wrong single choices for pop.

So this isn't the worst thing in the world. it's what we wanted anyway, right? He needs to regroup, and historically pushbacks benefit him more often than not.
