It's an incurable sexually transmitted disease whose symptoms can be managed but it never goes away. Thanks for answering. This whole lawsuit is so messy right now. If Usher doesn't even have herpes then the case is closed. But right now I suspect that he actually has it (and someone leaked this information to the these "victims" and that white hoe).Same. Fun fact though: as recently as the late 1970s, HSV2 wasn't considered an STD. It was simply a cold sore in an "unusual" place. The drug company that was making Zovirax found during their R&D phase that there was virtually no market for the drug because no one considered it a big deal, so they went about creating one through awareness campaigns. Well, some call it awareness; others call it fear-mongering. Make your own judgment call on that one. But put it this way, the concept that an occasional bump on your dick means you have an STD is literally as young as or maybe younger than Usher himself. In terms of viral genetics HSV1 and HSV2 are nearly indistinguishable from one another under a microscope, and pretty much behave in the same way when an outbreak occurs. The only appreciable difference between the two is how they are transferred (HSV1 can be transmitted non-sexually or sexually; HSV2 is transmitted almost solely through sexual contact) and where they tend to occur (HSV1 typically occurs around the mouth, while HSV2 occurs on the genitals), which is why HSV1 is seen as "just" a cold sore and HSV2 is seen as an STD. However, due to oral sex there is an increase in the number of genital herpes cases that are HSV1, and HSV2 can be contracted orally. HSV2 occurs less frequently than HSV1 (20-30% of the US population has HSV2, while ~65% has HSV1). In an area with a low rate of HSV2 infection, having it can be a greater indicator of one's sexual activity and # of partners, but in an area with higher rates of HSV2 infection, having it more likely speaks to one's demographics than sexual behavior. Both types of HSV are more common in African-Americans and the risk of contracting HSV2 increases at a much greater rate for AAs than for other races, particularly for black women. (In general straight women will always have a greater risk of contracting an STD than straight men do because it is easier to contract an STD by being penetrated.) At least two-thirds of people with HSV1 or HSV2 are asymptomatic. For those who aren't asymptomatic however, genital outbreaks are uncomfortable, sometimes even painful, and embarrassing. With or without symptoms, trying to navigate the dating world with what is widely accepted as an incurable STD (and in particular, one that is apparently easy to unwittingly spread even with condom usage) isn't easy...assuming that you disclose your status before having sex with people. I want to make it clear that I'm not trying to downplay herpes, just framing the context for Usher's predicament. The current reality is that herpes of any strain on your genitals is viewed as an STD, and thus has a fairly strong stigma attached to it. You could conclude that it's a relatively minor thing, but someone else with the same set of information about it could decide the exact opposite - and that other person has the law on their side. A lot of people don't have that same set of information and if they are a more fearful type will probably react hostilely to you trying to give them more information...like, I have seen people online shouting down people with professional medical careers and CDC links lol. So Usher has his work cut out for him in trying to play this off. The big red flag with Sandra Rose's claim that the first lawsuit/settlement is fake is that when that first leaked, Maya (the woman in that lawsuit) commented under one of Usher's Instagram posts that she wasn't the one who leaked it. Not, "I never sued Usher" or "I never contracted herpes," just that she isn't the one who leaked the court docs. If it was fake why not say that in the first place? This is Usher's PR and legal teams scrambling. He does need to be suing any and everybody though. Someone out here violating HIPAA (not just Usher's private info but Maya's too) like you can't be sued or prosecuted for that shit yourself if it's traced back to you, smh.

Thank you so much for this post, because some of the immature and ignorant comments I've seen in this thread have been disappointing. HSV is SERIOUS. There are many people who live with symptomatic HSV deal with chronic pain as well as mental and emotional distress. Let's not forget rejection and stigma. Even if you do a blood test, it can come out negative because it lies dormant and hides. That's scary considering most people in the world have been exposed to HSV1 (kissing, sharing drinks, oral sex) and/or HSV2 (even without penetration, it's skin to skin contact). Thank God there's a vaccine Theravax being approved by the FDA now (and a functional cure coming soon too). Having HSV can also increase your chances of also contracting HIV and HPV, so rather than making jokes about burning, we should be learning more about this virus, especially when the majority of people show no symptoms and are passing it to each other unknowingly.

The fact that Bump started playing when I opened this thread though...Man, I love the shuffle feature on my phone. That song still goes hard though.

Thank you for this post. I guess that's what I was trying to say. What I want to stress is that people may have HSV without actually acknowledging it until the more serious symptoms are developed, which makes it hard when you want to decide if someone is "actively transmitting" it to other people. The blame game itself seems to me a kind of phobia as well.

Sex ALWAYS has some level of risk, no matter who it's with. No one is immune or invincible to anything!

An employee from a Days Inn in Atlantic City, where Quantasia was a hotel guest, has said to the press that she saw Usher come to the hotel to meet Quantasia in the lobby that night. But who knows how reputable this employee is.

I still listen to Go Missin' regularly. That was such a missed opportunity, for urban at least. At the time it falsely got my hopes up for a Diplo-driven followup to L4M...sigh.
Lisa Bloom and co. really want us to believe this n! is out here slumming it, huh.

^ leave Quantasia Sharpton alone sis. Nobody wants to be a regular girl. She tried it. She failed . But she ambitiously took a wild shot.
Besides I've seen more fraudulent , perjury committing bitches succeed than my sis , Quantasia.

I have heard Usher on radio more up here in the past week than the last few months combined. Get that promo Usher. If an STD propels him back to a hitmaker I won't be mad! That short studio clip sounds more promising than his entire last two albums.

I finally finished watching Hands of Stone yesterday and I thought Usher did a great job portraying Sugar Ray Leonard. That "Champions" song really fit the movie well, so I'm glad it was made (although perhaps not included on the Hard II Love album).
