Apparently Ariana Grande will be opening the VMA's now. As long as he kills his performance, doesn't really matter.

From MikeWillMadeIT's twitter:
"@mikewillmadeit Got Usher next single Yu digggg."
"@mikewillmadeit Radio Smash/Great Song. Next level shit."
I'm assuming this is after SCTGITY.

Looks like he's releasing an app akin to Gaga's ARTPOP app; this is hidden on usherworld.com:

Whomever makes his decisions on his performances needs to be fired. She Came To Give It To You has not connected with the audiences and he did not perform well tonight.
However "Believe Me" is a excellent ballad and he should of performed that instead.

Usher's photobombs are the best, lmao. Whomever makes his decisions on his performances needs to be fired. She Came To Give It To You has not connected with the audiences and he did not perform well tonight. I don't agree with this but then I do? I like the song and enjoyed the performance. I thought he was vocally on par and honestly if it had been the BET Awards I don't think anyone would be complaining that it was a weak showing on his part, so I'm not going to call it weak now just b/c it's the VMAs. But it's almost 1 am EST and this song is nowhere to be found in the iTunes top 100. I think he really needed the opening spot to even have a chance, and I'm not entirely sure even that would have helped. So I agree just in the sense that obviously my opinion on it is the minority view, and if his priority is commercially bouncing back from L4M then he needs to move on. Everything about this era has just been so off. Not even in a backlash sort of way but just in a 'no one is checking for Usher Raymond, including Usher Raymond' sort of way. I finally got around to reading the entire interview with Complex (I think it was Complex) a month or so ago, and I was very thrown by what he said at the end...where he was basically like 'why can't I be seen as an icon AND still be relevant and make hits.' It was weird b/c I've basically been defending this era under the notion that he wasn't really trying to be either, that he was just making music he enjoyed b/c he could afford to do that now. I always support the notion of artistic freedom regardless of what anyone else wants or expects (it's easy for me to take this position b/c I'm so musically basic and easy to please lol). NOTHING about this era or the way it has been handled has the feel of someone who is trying to be seen as a legend or as someone trying to make hits. His words are conflicting with his (lack of) actions and now I legit don't know what he is trying to do, if he is trying to do anything at all. I mean..even his VMA performance, as much as I liked it, had such a laissez-faire vibe about it. Like 'oh I'm just gonna throw on some white and have a jam session with my band and my back up dancers...I think I'll even call Nicki up and see if she'll fall through.' Nicca playing around like this is a backyard barbeque and he's somebody's uncle I'm nobody so it's okay if I'm basic, he isn't so it's not. Name of the album is apparently Everything You Can Imagine, btw...though personally what I imagine is a repeat of 2000 when he was going to release an album, but then didn't b/c he was getting such poor feedback from the leaked songs that he went back to the drawing board and didn't leave it until he finished 8701. Also that article still says the album is dropping in September but I think it was confirmed somewhere that it was pushed back to October? So the title might change as well. Or like, not happen.

At this point I wouldn't be mad at an October release date. This era just seems to be an overall mess. So much confusion.

Also that article still says the album is dropping in September but I think it was confirmed somewhere that it was pushed back to October? So the title might change as well. Or like, not happen. He just has lost his connection with his core fanbase. There are scattered versions of his fans that are supportive of everything he has tried to put out but for the most part people have stopped checking for Usher since Raymond vs Raymond. Yes I'm aware that Climax and Scream were hits but I think people got tired and turned off by the rev-pop sound he was trying to promote and the fact that Trey Songz, Chris Brown and Ne-Yo had started to release records similar and in some cases better than Usher had. The difference to 2004 Usher and 2014 Usher is the competition and market. 2004 Usher was an innovator and a step ahead of any and every competitor in the market. Also 2004 was a time were Urban music WAS pop. It's completely different now and Usher's quality has fell back to the pack (outside of a few gems) and he has no connection to his initial base that made him who he was. I think his base was happy with "Good Kisser" and would be happy with songs like "Believe Me". But he needs flawless promotion to get him back in good graces with his audience that buys his records ... Unfortantely he hasn't got that either.
