Based on the clip I think I'll like it, but it's not his best or anything. I need to hear more to make a better decision, though.

It's an instant impact at #19 with 1292 spins, and has passed Jimmy Buffett.

This song just had the brakes applied to it on the 1-25 chart. Just as it was about to pass Chesney's latest gift to country radio in 1-25 market audience numbers, McGraw's song has stopped dead in it's tracks today, like someone pulled it's leash and scolded "Whoa, down boy!". It's audience numbers declined by 239,000 overnight, whereas in the prior three days it averaged out to audience increases of 1.5 million per day.
So that's two faster rising songs that have have been pulled back suddenly (the other being Buffet's) so Kenny can enjoy an uninterrupted free ride up. Gotta love the backroom wheeling and dealings in country radio.

This song is my favorite from him in a while. None of his singles from the last album did a whole lot for me.
I guess "She's My Kind Of Rain" was my favorite but even it wasn't that great. The production of this one is very nice, and he gives one of the better deliveries I've heard from him.

TIM McGRAW Live Like You Were Dying Producer(s): Byron Gallimore, Tim McGraw, Darran Smith Writer(s): T. Nichols, C. Wiseman Publisher(s): Warner-Tamerlane Publishing (BMI); Big Loud Shirt (ASCAP) Label/Catalog Number: Curb 1865 (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: June 19, 2004
Tim McGraw has built a successful career on recording great songs that connect deeply with fans. With a track record full of hits, this is the best one yet. Penned by Craig Wiseman and Tim Nichols, this tale of an unoptimistic medical diagnosis finds McGraw having the time of his life."I went sky diving/I went rocky mountain climbing," he sings. "I loved deeper and I spoke sweeter/ And I gave forgiveness I'd been denying." Such powerful lyrics will surely have listeners evaluating their own lives and wondering how they might do things differently if they knew their days were numbered. McGraw's emotionally charged performance is particularly touching, given that he lost his father, baseball great Tug McGraw, in January. This is one potent recording.—DEP

I stumbled upon this while channel surfing yesterday, and to my surprise I actually kind of liked it. Good to see it's #1 on the country chart.

Even so, thats 100,000 units less than what he moved in 2002. But that was at the peak of the Holiday season. Sales are always more then.

I usually try to make a first impression review on an album the first time I hear it. This album which I heard on AOL first listen, seems very week. On first listen I think this is the weakest of all of his albums but I really hope that changes after a few listens. I am going to listen to it again today and see if my opinion changes. I know very few people care what I think but it's just my opinion.

I don't think I will be picking this one up, atleast not yet.

The album is good, but doesn't blow me away.
The title track is his best single since "Something LIke That", and I love "Drugs or Jesus" and "Old Town New", but the rest is average Tim McGraw, no better or no worse than most of his stuff. I give the album a B+, but take away those three songs, and you have an average album that I would not listen too often.

I like this album a lot, but it's different than I was expecting. "Live Like You Were Dying" is far and away the best song on the album, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I think it's one of the best things Tim has ever done.
"Blank Sheet Of Paper" is probably my second favorite song on the album. To me, it's an obvious single choice. "My Old Friend" is very good as well. I don't love "Back When", but that's the one that radio has seemed to grab a hold of. It's not that I dislike it, but it's by no means great. It looks like it's really starting to take off, though.
The problem with the album is, IMO, not enough uptempo songs, which is what I think Tim excells at. "Can't Tell Me Nothin'" is really good, this album's "Cowboy In Me", but it won't see a release since it's Brad Cotter's current single. Which is too bad, because I think it would've been a big hit.
Overall, a solid album, though not Tim's best.

"Can't Tell Me Nothin'' was also on Travis Tritt's 2002 album, Strong Enough. I like his version better than Tim's, though Tim's is good. I haven't heard Brad's.
Shockingly, I haven't bought or listened to the whole album yet. His last two were so wonderful, I almost don't want to be disappointed. I plan to have a listen during the Labor Day weekend drive...

He's still going pretty strong on monday's update, wonder if he'll make it 10 weeks? My guess is no, cuz a lot of stations are probably playing specials this weekend and we'll see a big drop in the next 2 days.

He's already broken Lonestar's record for most weeks at #1 (8), which they accomplished with 'Amazed' exactly five years ago.
The only item of suspense would be to see if he can catch 'Remember When' and wind up #1 for the year?
It's gonna be REAL close!!!!!
