Has Collin Raye's new single made any impact at all?

I am so sick of Collin's I-have-better-opinions-than-you attitude. A while ago he posted this nasty letter on his website basically blasting the Dixie Chicks and any other artist who spoke out either for or against the war. It was so nasty. If I can find it I will post it here. And this song seems to be heading on the same track. These lyrics irritate me so much. I'm done with him.
But to answer your question, I have yet to hear it on any station, or even hear any mention of it near me at all. Does he have a new record deal, or is it independent?

The lyrics to this song don't look impressive at all:
Welcome to the planet earth, I feel it’s appropriate To remind a few friends of ours this ain’t Utopia Seems lately everybody’s quick to share their point of view Since I’ve done my homework, guess I’ll offer up one, too
Don’t mean to sound self-righteous, or act like a “know-it-all” But may I ask these learned few to get the facts before they talk You say that war is futile, nothing good is ever won Well, let me dare you to take this course in World History 101
What about World War II, what about the Holocaust Were we wrong to step in then, remember all the lives we lost It wasn’t time or diplomacy that made the Nazis stop what they’d done Another cold hard fact of life- World History 101
They call our President a cowboy, they say he’s trying to pick a fight Even though there’s been countless wrongs, it’s not our place to make it right But how would the world be different if the mean old USA Had always kept her eyes closed, or looked the other way
You’ve got a right…no, privilege…to say what’s on your mind But that right was paid for in blood by some friends of yours and mine Like the 82nd at Normandy, the 101 at Bastogne The Yorktown crew at Midway, the heroes of both Buil Runs
What about the Revolution, and what about the Civil War The way this nation came to be was by a last resort of righteous force And we’ve been fighting tyranny since Concord and Lexington I’m proud to say it’s written plain as day in World History 101
Where were all the rallies, where were your voices when Bill sent troops to the Balkans to stop the killing then Seems funny that the horrors or war bother you so much now Could this have less to do with saving lives than what party’s in the big White House
The over-privileged and overpaid seem to be who gripe the most But have you ever made a sacrifice to earn the disrespect you show Don’t you dare compare my anger for the ignorant words you’ve spilled To real life persecution, or death for those who can not defend themselves
Evil’s always been here, it’ll be here till the end And all your naive protests ain’t gonna make it stop, my friend I wish that good intentions could allow us to drop our guns But you can’t deny what’s black and white from World History 101
We owe it to the ones who’ve died to protect the freedom they won May it burn throughout the pages of World History 101 Yeah, that concludes this lesson in World History 101

Too controversial for country radio I would imagine. All these patriotic songs get so yawn after a while. I love my country just as much as anyone, but does every song have to be about it?

I haven't heard this yet, but after reading the lyrics I have no desire. It's a shame that Collin Raye has come to this - he used to be my favorite male artist.

I like the lyrics.
I agree it won't get played. This song is political, even more so than "Have You Forgotten?". That was the only other political songs. Toby's were more patriotic than political.

Boo to Collin Raye. I guess he's hoping for any type of attention, good or bad.
I used to like him a lot. He had one of the quickest falls from grace I've ever seen. He had a consistent string of Top 5 hits then one flop after another for no reason in particular.

one flop after another for no reason in particular. Well, to me, they flopped because they weren't good songs :)

Well, to me, they flopped because they weren't good songs :) Yeah, but it wasn't even like they were minor flops. He had trouble getting songs into the Top 40 at all.
