lol. No, it's a quickie certifications I have for my iTunes. 20 plays = gold, 40 = platinum, 60 = double platinum, 80 = 3x, etc.

Oh, I missed the part about the * next to this week's position.
It's a bullet, which means the song will likely continue to rise next week. I used to say a song with a 'bullet' meant I liked it more this week than last week. So basically, as long as a song has the *, it's still considered to be on the rise, even if it falls down the chart.

• Ed Sheeran has become one of the most prominent acts on The Max chart in the last several years yet his rise to #1 this week is only his second time to reach the top of the chart. Ed’s first single The A Team made it to #1 in 2012 and with more than half a dozen trips to the Top 10 since with singles from + and X, Ed’s fourth single from his second album becomes that record’s first to make it after the previous three stalled within the Top 10.

• This week marks the introduction of a brand new chart, The Max Artist 10, a chart meant to showcase the artists who have received the most attention overall for the previous week. Modeled after Billboard’s similar artist chart, this one is for the most part an arbitrary pick of artists I’ve listened to, talked about, heard about, read about or even simply thought about for whatever reason. The first #1 on The Max Artist 10 is Brandi Carlile, following the release of her latest album, which sits at #1 on the album chart for a second week.

• With Rihanna moving into the Top 40 at #40 with Bitch Better Have My Money, she moves to first place among artists with the most Top 40 hits on The Max 100 as Bitch becomes her 35th appearance. When Towards The Sun reached the Top 40 a few weeks ago, Rihanna tied both Eminem and Lady Gaga. The Top 5 artists with the most Top 40 hits are: (1) Rihanna with 35, (2,3) Eminem and Lady Gaga with 34, (4) Nicki Minaj with 32 and (5) Pink with 31.

• Vance Joy spends a 4th week in a row at the painful position of #11, just outside of what would be his first Top 10 hit if Mess Is Mine were to advance one more position. The song ties several other hits that peaked at #11 for four weeks.
Emm Gryner did it with Beautiful Things in 2003, but she would later hit the Top 10 with her next single Symphonic.
In 2010 into 2011, Arcade Fire spent four weeks at #11 with We Used To Wait. They made up for it by hitting #1 several years earlier with Keep The Car Running.
In 2013, the Lumineers would eventually go on to hit #11 for four weeks with Ho Hey, which became their biggest hit on The Max 100. If Vance Joy fails to reach the Top 10 with Mess Is Mine, or a future single, he could join them.
The most unfortunate case of an artist peaking at #11, however, is one-hit-wonder Little Jackie, who spent FIVE weeks at #11 with The World Should Revolve Around Me in 2008-09. At the very least, Vance is already on his second hit.

• In 2006, needtobreathe hit The Max 100 with the first hit Haley. In January 2007, it reached #35 where it peaked for four weeks before dropping out. That was their only song to reach the chart until this week the group returns with their second chart appearance featuring Gavin DeGraw, Brother, which is new at #95. That’s a gap of 8 years, 1 month and 1 day between hits. It pales in comparison to record holder Ace Of Base’s 14 years, 6 months and 2 days between hits, in which the group’s latest single is currently charting.

• The Trews score their first #1 on The Max 100 with In The Morning. The song is the first to chart from the band, but it also features Serena Ryder, who has hit #1 three times before. This is her 4th trip to the top of the chart, marking her 24th week at #1 overall. That puts her in 7th place, tying with fun., as the artist with the most weeks at #1 in The Max 100 history. Lady Gaga leads with 75 weeks.

• With Serena Ryder having featured vocals in this week’s #1, she’s the first woman to grace the top of the chart since Nicki Minaj spent a sole week there last September with Anaconda. Since then, #1s have come from Mr. Probz, Blue October, Milky Chance, Hozier, Scott Helman, William Fitzsimmons, Ed Sheeran and George Ezra. I do it countdown style because it's how I used to write down the charts back when I listened to Casey's Top 40 so I became accustomed to seeing it that way. I have flipped it a few times over the years but it didn't feel the same to me. Oddly enough, it just wasn't as interesting or fun for some reason so I always flipped it back. I didn't notice I was the only one who did it that way though. I think there used to be a few others at one time though.
