I imagine it would get a bit redundant if Billboard always qualified chart achievements like the one above about Nicki...but, at the same time, comparing chart achievements across times when the Hot 100 (and the nature of the music industry) was completely different is really misleading.
Mariah was at her peak of popularity during a time when a song had to be released as a physical single to make the chart...whereas Nicki and Taylor are popular in the digital age, when every song on an album is eligible for the Hot 100 as long as it sells enough, is played by radio enough, or is streamed enough.
I'm not sure what the solution is, making separate achievement lists for every time the Hot 100 has changed its methodology would be a bit silly, but the way they're comparing Hot 100 achievements now just feels really meaningless without any kind of context. the same goes for comparing achievements on the genre charts before and after the recent formula overhaul...they're completely different charts now.

Those numbers are being run up in very Glee-like fashion
In the sense that a number of those songs aren't sticking around very long for Taylor Swift or Nicki Minaj
And yes, a true comparison of current numbers to prior numbers needs to come with lots of qualifiers.

With the debut of 'High School,' Minaj notches her 44th Hot 100 hit, equaling the output of fellow 'American Idol' judge – and rival? – Carey Perhaps another element to add to their reported rivalry as judges on "American Idol": Nicki Minaj has tied Mariah Carey's total of 44 Billboard Hot 100 hits. "High School," from Minaj's box set "Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded – The Re-Up," starts at No. 83. The song's start is fueled by a No. 42 bow on Streaming Songs (1.3 million streams, according to Nielsen BDS) following its video premiere on April 2. Now with 44 charted titles apiece, here's a look at how Carey and Minaj rank among the women with the most appearances in the Hot 100's 54-year history: 73, Aretha Franklin 58, Taylor Swift 56, Madonna 56, Dionne Warwick 53, Connie Francs 48, Brenda Lee 44, Mariah Carey 44, Nicki Minaj 41, Rihanna 41, Barbra Streisand 40, Mary J. Blige 40, Diana Ross 39, Whitney Houston 39, Janet Jackson Rihanna has 42 and Taylor 59.

48 44 34 31 Gangnam Style, PSY 2 It's going to be off of the chart after only 31 weeks, even with 1.5 billion youtube views. I think this should be enough to stop people from worrying about songs staying on for over a year from youtube views.

I guess these additional streaming charts add some value, but I would rather they focused on fixing the website! It is nearly three months since the new and improved Billboard.biz was rolled out, and it still does not provide me with the same functionality as the old website. There is nothing I can do right now. It is a mess from top to bottom. Im not in a position to touch it. I have to wait for enough people have to actually gripe to Billboard itself in order for anything to have a hope of getting done correctly right now they are stuck with that crap for awhile I'm afraid.
