She finished behind Buddy Jewell on the first season of Nashville Star. This single pretty much shows why. Its not that good.

MIRANDA LAMBERT Me and Charlie Talking Producer(s): Frank Liddell, Mike Wrucke Writer(s): M. Lambert, R. Lambert, H. Little Publisher(s): various Genre: COUNTRY Label/Catalog Number: Epic ESK 56531 (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: October 30, 2004
This 20-year-old singer/songwriter began her career by building a fan base in her native Texas. Then, national attention came to her when when she finished third on the first season of "Nashville Star." These days, Lambert's first Epic single, fueled by distinctive vocals and rootsy musicianship, is ascending the charts. Producers Frank Liddell and Mike Wrucke frame her vocals in an earthy setting complete with jangly guitars, crickets and twangy jew's harp. The record has a fresh, different sound that is setting Lambert apart from other hopeful newcomers. Beyond the production, one cannot help but pay attention to the real ear-grabbing quality that is Lambert's voice. Hers is an instrument of youthful exuberance that shines on this ode to first love—the kind that treats "love like a firefly that only gets to shine for a little while." With a catchy chorus and memorable lyric, Lambert is off to a strong start on the national stage.—DEP

I heard this on my XM yesterday and it's not as good as I expected it to be. It is decent but not sure how much airplay it will get. She was my favorite in the Nashville Star show but I hope there is better to come from her.

I actually have to disagree with most of you guys and say that I think this song is incredibly catchy. I really hope it does well, and that Miranda's label gives her a chance, because I really believe she has a lot of great music in her. Ann-Marita www.annmarita.com

The song is Number 33 on Mediabase. Her album "Kerosene" comes out January 25.

This song is terrible. Horrible choice for a lead...

I just heard this for the first time today... great song! The chorus is catchy and has a very distinct sound to it. Her voice is so fresh... I hope this climbs higher for her, but it's not looking too good. Hopefully there's more in her.

I like the song, too. Not what I would expect to hear on the radio, but that isn't a bad thing.

The song is moving up a bit, no. 28 on Mediabase and also no. 28 on Radio and Records. I noticed that Miranda's album release date has been pushed back from January to March, probably to give the single more time to rise on the charts and allow her to promote the album on Nashville Star 3, since it will presumably be released while the show is on and she can make a guest appearance.

This song is GREAT and one of the better ones that's on radio right now. I LOVE Miranda and glad to see her finally getting the attention she deserves.
She's WAY WAY WAY better than Buddy ever thought of being. What a lil' HOTTIE too!
And yes, her CD has been pushed back to March to allow for some promotion.

I saw that on allaboutcountry, they already have Kerosene, the title track available as a snippet, so I guess that's the next single.
The version of Greyhound Bound For Nowhere is not as good as what she sang on Nashville Star, so that's a big disappointment.
I can't wait to get the album though.

The production on this sounds oddly vacant.

I really liked Miranda on Nashville Star, although I wasn't crazy about Me and Charlie Talking (and I agree about the production). But I like the title track, Kerosene, so I may pick up her album. Does anyone know when the next single will go for adds, or if she will be appearing on Nashville Star 3 at all? I did see on her website that she will be appearing on the Today Show next week.

I think "Me and Charlie Talking" is actually a very good song. I can say however that she has better songs on her new album. I did really like "Kerosene".

Bring Me Down goes for adds within the next couple of weeks. Just picked up the album and have to say I wouldn't have went with this song as the second single. It's a good song but kind of a different choice in my opinion. I didn't like Me and Charlie that much at first but it has really grown on me. She really did a great job of sticking to her roots as this is a very "Texas" sounding album. She is a great song writer as well.

Sorry, but I believe that Kerosene, the title track is going to be released next. I wouldn't have picked that song as a single because it's basically the weakest song on an exceptional album. It's too Texas-y sounding for mainstream radio, and if released, I'm afraid won't do too well.
Bring Me Down, on the other hand, is a great candidate for next single.
I just hope that There's A Wall (the best song on the album), gets released.

Sorry, but I believe that Kerosene, the title track is going to be released next. Epic has opted not to go with "Kerosene", but "Bring Me Down" instead and it will go for adds April 4th.

Epic has opted not to go with "Kerosene", but "Bring Me Down" instead and it will go for adds April 4th. Well then, good call by Epic because like I said, for mainstream radio, Kerorsene is too weak and too Texas-y sounding.

Wow, I was not aware of Miranda's popularity! :) She debuts at #1 this week on the Billboard Country Albums Chart and 18 on the Billboard Top 100. For having a debut single reach only the top 20, this is amazing and very impressive. By the way, she joins only Wynonna, LeAnn Rimes and Gretchen Wilson as she is now only the fourth female to have her debut album land at #1 on the charts its first week out. Got this info from her website, www.mirandalambert.comAlso, there's a great article on CMT.com front page about Miranda's debut. I think we'll be hearing a lot of great things from Miranda in the future!

"Me And Charlie Talking" never reached the Top 20 on the country radio airplay charts. Just on CMT and GAC's video countdowns.
I'm very surprised she debuted higher than #8 because I expected the sales of the CD's by so called superstars to still sell more than her CD. LOL

Yes, she debuted at #1 on the Albums Chart and 18 on the all-genre Billboard 200 on the strength of selling 40000 copies.
If you don't have this CD, it's a must have to anyone's collection.

Congrats to Miranda!! I enjoy this album a lot.

Holy Cow!!! I can't believe it debuts at #1! I have been listening to this album on my way home from work (45 minute drive) all week and it just gets better with every listen. Bring Me Down is really growing on me as a single as well. I think Greyhound is excellent and should be the fourth single after another uptempo when Bring Me Down finishes. I hope radio wakes up and plays this song. It has a Keith Urban groove to it in my opinion. She wrote it with Travis Howard who was also in the Nashville Star competition when she was.
