Zebra's Top 60 Songs Of The First Half Of 2013:
As many of you know, I started my chart late into the year (wish I have done it sooner), and thus I only captured the last 4 weeks of the first half of the year in my chart. There were mmany other great songs this year that deserve recognition, and this serves that purpose. My list will be ranked mainly objectively, but I will also base ranks off of how the songs would have done on my chart. Will they all make the final year end top 100? We'll see. I hope you all enjoy!
First, I want to spotlight several album tracks that would have done well on my chart, had I charted them, despite not being singles.
"Don't Hold The Wall" - Justin Timberlake
"Supernatural" - Ke$ha
"All That Matters (The Beautiful Life)" - Ke$ha
"Love Without Tragedy/Mother Mary" - Rihanna
"Bleeding Out" - Imagine Dragons
Every other track on Night Visions.
Second, I wanted to give attention to five songs that didn't quite make it. For three of these, the only reason why they did not is because they are just now starting to pcik up on my chart, and the other two just didn't chart well enough/charted mainly in 2012.
65. Scream & Shout - Will.i.am ft. Britney Spears
64. Begin Again - Taylor Swift
63. People Like Us - Kelly Clarkson
62. The One - Tamar Braxton
61. The Phoenix - Fall Out Boy
Now, onto my bottom 40. No commentary on anything, but they still deserve to shine. Keep in mind this was a difficult list to make, as I loved each and every one of these at some point this year.

TOP TWENTY!
20. Can't Hold Us - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ft. Ray Dalton: In my opinion, this was miles better than "Thrift Shop". However, most of it's run has not been completed yet, and so it ranks under "Thrift Shop" for now. It would have likely hit number one for one or two weeks. What made the song really click for me was the insanely catchy chorus, and it would have likely hit number one for one or two weeks.
19. C'Mon - Ke$ha: I don't know why, but this song clicked with me instantly, and far more than "Die Young" ever did. I am generally not the biggest Ke$ha fan, but I really liked this song and I thought it would be a hit. Alas, I was wrong, but it is good anyways, even if it was sort of a flop. This probably would have hit number one.
18. Stay - Rihanna ft. Mikky Ekko: This song was a grower for me. I hated it at first, but then I grew to appreciate it later on and this led to decent longevity for me, leading to this high rank. Would have made the top five.
17. My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up) - Fall Out Boy: This song also grew on me, but it took way less time than "Stay" did. It was insanely catchy and I heard it all of the time (my local radio station adored this song in it's first few weeks) so I grew to love it. Would have been a top three hit.
16. Ho Hey - The Lumineers: I loved this song in January and February but I am sick of it now. It may not be this high on the year end, but we'll see. Would have went to number two.
15. Try - P!nk: This song was also a grower. It was originally too slow for me, but then around the time that it actually peaked on the Hot 100 I started to love it. Probably would have been a number one or number two.
14. Thrift Shop - Macklemore & Ryan Lewis ft. Wanz: I hated this song for a while, but after many, many listens it sarted to grow on me and I loved it. It is super catchy and it probably would have been at least a number two, if not a number one. It had already been charting, and that is why it is higher than "Can't Hold Us".
13. Young And Beautiful - Lana Del Rey: This song was amazing. I fell in love with it on my first listen, and it would have proabably been a number one debut. It is still fantastic, and it is only declining so fast because her label moved onto "Summertime Sadness" (aka amazing song - why though) and other songs are overtaking it. I am glad it was such a hit for her.
12. Two Black Cadillacs - Carrie Underwood: This is by far my favorite country single of the year. I didn't think she could ever come close to releasing anything as good as "Blown Away", but this song proved me wrong. It would have debuted in the top ten and would have held number one for about three weeks or so.
11. Heart Attack - Demi Lovato: This was another song that clicked with me instantly, and it would have hit number one. I loved this song so much that it was still in my top ten when I started my chart. It was a fantastic single choice imo, and it got me to check out more of her album.
10. It's Time - Imagine Dragons: This song is all kinds of amazing, but still not their best. I only discovered it when Glee covered it and when it starting being used in commercials and things, and I fell in love instantly. This song made me listen to their album and I lvoed it so much that I went and bought the physical copy, something that I rarely do. Also, being a Senior this year (should have been our Senior song, but it lost to "You're Gonna Miss This"), it just resonated with me. Would have been a multi week number one.
9. I Knew You Were Trouble. - Taylor Swift: I knew the moment this song first came out that it would become a hit. It was one of those songs by her where I appreciate her more. The only song on the album that I like more is "Begin Again". I fell in love with it, and it would have hit number one.
8. Sail - AWOLNATION: This song is so old, but I really only discovered it in 2012. It is currently on what would be it's second run on the charts, and it would have been a number one. It has amazing longevity for me.
7. The Way - Ariana Grande ft. Mac Miller: Amazing song! It reached it's peak right before I started my chart (Number two), but I love it anyways. It clicked with me instantly, and it's one of those songs that can be played over and over again.
6. Mirrors - Justin Timberlake: This song came out and my girlfriend actually introduced me to it. I fell in love instantly, and this track rocketed up to number one soon after. It isn't holding up well now, as the radio is killing it, but it did well enough in the first half of the year to land here.
5. Sweet Nothing - Calvin Harris ft. Florence Welch: I love Calvin Harris's material, and this was no exception. Florence sounded great on this. It would have been a number one.
4. Stubborn Love - The Lumineers: I saw that The Lumineers had another song going up for adds and I checked it out. It was extraordinary. Too bad it flopped, imo this deserved to be on the radio just as much as Ho Hey, if not more. It would have hit number one.
3. Just Give Me A Reason - P!nk ft. Nate Ruess: I saw this rocketing up the Hot 100 chart and all over Pulse so I had to check it out. I fell in love with it almost instantly. It is one of my favorite P!nk songs, if not my favorite. It would have been a multi-week number one smash.
2. Take A Walk - Passion Pit: I actually discovered this in late 2012 but it started becoming a favorite of mine this year. I am glad this actually charted on the Hot 100, although it deserved to be a lot higher. It would have been number one for several weeks.
1. Radioactive - Imagine Dragons: Surprise, surprise! This rightfully earned the number one spot. First, it is a catchy and amazing song. I am so glad radio picked this up finally. I would be perfectly content if it went top two, or even if it hit number one (That'll never happen). It is also a milestone number one for me, as it was number one on my birthday, graduation, and it was my first number one on my published chart. It would have spent the most weeks at number one for me than any other song. Time will tell if it will be my top song of 2013 as a whole, although it's got a pretty great shot.
I hope you all enjoyed my countdown, even if you didn't like some of the songs in it.
Looking forward to many more charts in the future!
