"God's Will" has been selected by Martina and RCA as the next single off of her self-titled album Martina.
This could be career suicide as far her future on country radio goes but RCA did research or something and the results leaned heavily towards "God's Will" apparently.
I renamed the topic title because it was confusing and made it look like you were asking what it was.

Why is she releasing another ballad? The only thing that's going to help this is the word "God". She definitely should have released "Wearing White".

I can say I'm very surprised. "God's Will" is excellent, but it's very heavy. Coming off of having the last 4 of 5 singles being ballads (5 of 6 if "Trip Around The Sun" counts), this is the last thing she needs to be releasing. "Wearing White" was the obvious single choice.

It seems that all Martina sings anymore are ballads.

I loved her performance on the CMAs, but I am frankly just bored when I hear her on the radio these days. From "Concrete Angel" forward it's been 'same old' to me... Give us some more "God Fearin' Women!"

I agree. Martina should not have won the CMA. The most deserving artist was Sara Evans or Terri Clark. They both had #1's this year. Heck, even Reba had a #1. Martina has had no #1's, a top 5 a top 10 and a flop.
RCA released the two worst singles off this CD: "In My Daughter's Eyes" and "God's Will."
"Wearin' White" or "Learning to Fall" were the obvious choices.

Give us some more "God Fearin' Women!" Agreed... I loved "Concrete Angel" from then on it has been ballad, blah, ballad, blah, ballad. Most of my favorite Martina songs are her uptempo numbers like "God Fearin' Women", "Life Number Nine", and "Independence Day".

They really have to release something upbeat. Martina does upbeat songs just as well as the slow ones we've been hearing from her for the past year.

Well "This One's For The Girls" was uptempo and that one was just bad. I've been less than impressed with this album's material. "How Far" is the only one I really liked, and even that seemed like a redux of some of her previous songs.

Congratulations to Martina and John McBride! John announced today on her official website that they are expecting their third child. Congrats!

Just heard it and I'm not particularly impressed. More of the same from her.

The video is now up on her artist page at CMT. It's another winner for Martina - a bit similar to the "Concrete Angel" video, but it's still excellent.
While I still wish that she released an uptempo song instead to break it up, I think this is a great song. I hope it does well for her.

I wonder how this will do ultimately though....ballad after ballad is boring...and I have liked Martina from the beginning (although I'm growing a little tired of it...)
I know lots of people on the board saw "Wearing White" as a better single choice. I'd agree...although my fav on the record is "Learning to Fall", which I would've thought a better single than this.

It's the only debut on the Billboard Hot 100 this week at Number 96.

I was wrong about Martina.
It seems that she can still release anything[/I] and have it go Top 10 or higher.
I thought Country radio might have gotten sick of all of the AC ballads that she keeps releasing.
I guess not.

"How Far", which I consider a great song, only went to #12. I would also be very surprised if "God's Will" made Top 10. A better argument seems to be that anything she releases will eventually go Top 20.

Martina annoys the living hell out of me. Why does she insist on singing the same miracle, hope, im a mom CRAP? We get it. She has an amazing voice but she keeps singing the wrong songs.
