I absolutely love this but that remix from Hell needs to be set on fire and buried 6 feet under ground. It completely destroys the song and takes out everything that makes it so haunting. I guess I shouldn't complain though, a hit is a hit and we all know Lana needs the (US) exposure. I hope they release Diet Mountain Dew next. It's awesome and there is absolutely no reason to remix it. I kinda think Blue Jeans could work now that she's had her mainstream breakthrough. I've always found Blue Jeans (along with Million Dollar Man) the hardest songs to get into. I eventually came to love them both but it definitely took a while. If they want to go with one of her slower songs I feel they should try Born To Die again. It's a bit more catchy and has that epic, all or nothing romance theme in it. It's a shame all the Twilight films have been released because those tweens would have eaten it up if it was on the soundtrack!

I wouldn't be surprised if they pushed one of the 3 tracks that are featured on her upcoming mini film Tropico; Gods & Monsters, Bel Air and Body Electric. None of them sound like hits but out of the 3 Gods & Monsters is the more appropriate choice. Ughh... so many great tracks to choose from. Ride, American and Cola from the Paradise EP could also work. My money is on a Born To Die track though; preferably Blue Jeans or National Anthem.

Blue Jeans was the song that made me fall in love with Lana, but I doubt they'd release it next. I'm hoping for a remix (realistically, her label is nearly guaranteed to do another one) of Diet Mountain Dew, National Anthem, Off to the Races, Cola, or American next. New music would of course be welcome, too, though!

I was so scared that Katy and Gaga would kill this or at least make it lose momentum, but holy shit right now it is gaining as fast or faster! I mean, I know Katy at least will most likely become a much bigger hit in the long-run, but I just never predicted how well this would be doing!

That's interesting, cause Blue Jeans is the most immediate song on the album for me. Born To Die and Blue Jeans are the only two that hooked me instantly. They could try Born To Die again, but I think Blue Jeans is just maybe a tad more suited for CHR. BTD is a bit too offbeat yet for pop to embrace I think.

Which one is the one that blends with "Wide Awake"? That could work next.

"Blue Jeans", "Radio", and "National Anthem" are the best choices. :)

It may suck donkey balls for Katy but at least the glitch/error gets this a day at #10 on iTunes.

I mean, I know Katy at least will most likely become a much bigger hit in the long-run, but I just never predicted how well this would be doing! I'm not so sure. Everytime i hear Roar, i heard a second rate version of Brave, and the fact that Brave is on the charts too, could make the burn rate of the song being even faster. People mock Gaga this two weeks, but i wouldn't be surprised if Applause end being a bigger hit that Roar. And i wouldn't be surprised if Summertime sadness, Royals and Wake me up end all in number one and Gaga and Katy fail to reach the top

I think radio stations will be playing this non-stop during mid-August to mid-September. I wouldn't be surprised if it reaches #1 around September 22nd only to drop like a rock from that point on since... well, it won't be 'summer' anymore.

The sadness of summer being OVER is such a real & strong emotion each October that to me it would be the optimal time to play it! As for the follow-up single: Now my life is sweet like cinnamon Like a fucking dream I'm living in Baby love me cause I'm playing on the radio (How do you like me now?)I mean how appropriate would that be now that she has FINALLY had a breakthrough?

I always thought of Summertime Sadness of being a late August song, like being sad that summer is ending instead of mourning about it on a random winter day.

Off To The Races (the most forward Top 40 pick of the album) Really? I actually think 'Off to the Races' is one of the least radio-friendly songs on the album. Its production is pretty mainstream, yeah, but Lana's vocal performance is so polarizing; I just can't imagine hearing it on Top 40 radio. Excluding 'Video Games', 'Carmen', 'Million Dollar Man', and 'Lolita', every other track on Born to Die would make a better single. From Paradise, I'm thinking only 'Cola' and possibly 'American' or 'Burning Desire' would work. If they choose to release another remix, it needs to be the Gesaffelstein mix of 'Blue Jeans'.

Why are we forgetting rhythmic? :) It moved 33-27* on Billboard's 8/31 rhythmic chart. And here is the current Mediabase rolling info:

The really surprising thing here to me is that there has been absolutely no promo on their part for this. I can't even remember when her last public appearance in the US was.

As for single choices, I reckon National Anthem is the most radio friendly song and the Fred Falke remix is pretty good. Also, Dark Paradise has been burrowing in my head recently and the radio edit and the Parov Stelar remix would be another good combo for radio.
If they're not bothered about a remix then I think National Anthem, American and This Is What Makes Us Girls are ready made. I don't feel like there's much point retreading Blue Jeans or Born To Die, even though they're amazing songs.

I've never really gotten the appeal of Blue Jeans outside of it's compelling bridge. The verses are too slow and the chorus too forgettable with a weak defining hook. The only place I could ever see it charting is in the mid 20's of the alternative charts and then disappearing after a week or two. I ultimately think that the reason this (Summertime Sadness) is becoming a smash, is because of the repetition of the dance mix and the energy it brings to the chorus (in addition to it's defining message and inevitable torch song status).
I don't think any song from Paradise should be released, Cola finally clicked with me after months of listening to Paradise but even still I don't think it will work for radio. I still think Off To The Races is the best shot at a follow up to this from the album, with Young & Beautiful and National Anthem being the supreme choices. I think a dance mix of Dark Paradise could have potential, but I am wary of radio stations willingly playing something that directly references both death and suicide ideation. Those lyrics can't be hid under a trap mix.

The rock demo for National Anthem screams remastering and releasing and worldwide hit.
