Imo, she should really try to put out an album in the first half of 2014. Aside from Beyonce and Adele, I don't think there are any female artists planning on launching new projects (not sure when Florence is planning on releasing next).

She keeps on referring to Tropico as the 'farewell project' whatever that means for her. I'm not holding my breath for a new album anytime soon. I can see her either releasing another one as early as next year just to fulfil her contract so she can focus on other things or take a 5 year break from music and release the next one around 2020 or sth.

I remember when the local radio stations starting playing this, the DJ's would have to explain and make it very clear that it was the Cedric Gervais remix that they were playing. You'd think by now, people would know it's the remix being played on the radio and even if they didn't, they should hopefully know better and preview the song first. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if there are some people still somehow got confused.

How did you and Lana Del Rey come to write "Summertime Sadness" together?

I met Lana in summer 2011. I had heard some of her songs on YouTube and I loved what she was doing. When we wrote it, I realized that she was a brilliant songwriter and a magical artist. She writes the kind of music I want to listen to.

As the song is Del Rey's first Pop Songs hit, do you feel that she's earning respect that may have eluded her after her not exactly warmly-received "Saturday Night Live" appearance last year?

Lana has earned respect because she is so good. She has consistently released high-quality songs with artistry and vision. People are starving for real artistry. As more people hear her music, she's gaining more fans.

She's definitely recording and working on new material, with the full intention of releasing it. That's about as much as I know, ha. All this retiring nonsense is silly, I know she wants to delve more into film, but that's obvious.

She recently said in an interview that all of the media coverage and touring as of late has really drained her of her creativity. She says she still doesn't know what she wants to do for her next album and doesn't have any ideas.

To add some perspective, though, Lana often says very sudden things that don't actually translate to reality. A year ago she said that she didn't even enjoy her solo career and was quitting Lana in order to persue a career in making music for films. Ride and her rerelease came out a month or two later. My point is that you should take her album progress reports with a grain of salt. The album could come out in a few months or a few years.

I think this Dark Paradise remix would be a perfect followup.

I actually think that remix makes the song less appealing to radio. For some reason it takes away some of the catchiness of the original.

I hear this a lot about her music but it is so untrue. The only thing I find the same in most of her songs is that minimal hip-hop production that gives them an extra oomph. Other than that, they're all very distinctive but still cohesive enough to make Born To Die/Paradise theme albums.

Well each to their own, to me it's really sad how Lana has been treated and it's purely bittersweet that the first song the lamestream US radio would touch is a remix. Lana is, imo, one of the best thing happening to Pop for the past years, such a fresh breath of air. She really carved her own niche, style, sound and image. I'd personally take all her "exactly the same sounding" songs over the Disney-ish, early 00's teen-pop styled, songs that are Katy and Gaga's newest leads. But each to their own of course... but I can't understand how a typical EDM sound and beat can be considered original, if it weren't for the actual song beneath the remix, which again is Lana's own style, then this would just be a boring dance song... not that I have anything against dance music, but this remix is really nothing new or fresh sounding, it's the original song hidden there that saves it.

No wonder both versions are in the top 20 on iTunes. At this point I fully expect the original to pass the remix in a matter of days.

Hmm. A few more listens and my opinion has changed for the better I still don't like the chorus at all, but I do like the verses. She sounds...uh what word should I use...sexy? in the verses, I kinda like.
