I think what surprises me about this song being a hit is that it's so random and kind of came out of nowhere. People know who she is but isn't really that popular and it seemed like the album was on the back burner while her people tried to give her a name through other projects, like the Great Gatsby song, and then she put out an EP fairly recently too? But then along comes this song, from that first album, out of nowhere and it's not struggling. It's actually rising fast and becoming her first actual hit here after so many attempts and struggles. It's just odd how this one is the one that's rising with such ease when everything else Lana-related seemed to go nowhere. I've always stuck by this being her most radio friendly single, and always wondered why few people mentioned it when talking about what she could get a mainstream hit with. It has that real discernible hook that CHR needs and which aren't that typical coming from her. |

Never expected this to take off, but go figure.
I'm kind of torn. I hate that it's a hit because of that god-awful remix, but I'm hoping she can get some positive exposure out of it so maybe it's not such a bad thing? I dunno, I just hope we aren't made to hear an EDM redux of everything on the airwaves.

Quite surprising to hear two Lana songs in the lapse of less than two hours in the BPM EDM Sirus station: this and Y&B remix.
Frankly I'd rather have songs dancified than rappified as we had at one point (and still have, eg Ke$ha). Also this is not the typical generic remix-it's better so I'm happy.

The remix really isn't that bad as far as dance remixes go. The original is way better of course, but I can tolerate it if that's what it takes for it to be a hit. At least it doesn't mess with the verses much.

Everyone is saying that this remix is so fresh, but I'm just not hearing it. I think the polarizing opinions are due to the fact that a lot of us here are actually fans of electronic/dance music, even when it's not charting. This remix is fresh if you don't follow EDM, but if you're a fan of it, this is the same cookie-cutter formula that's been used for years now. It's really only a new sound for the radio. Sort of like how everyone was talking about how fresh dubstep was in 2011, when long time listeners were like, "Um..I've been listening to dubstep for over a decade. Where have you been?"
Glad this is a hit, though!
