This is the second single from his second greatest hits package.
His daughter duets with him on this track.

Horrible. It's like the Donkey from Shrek and his daughter singing with him. Sorry but this is really bad.

If Natalie Maines would have kept her opinions to herself Toby Keith and Gretchen Wilson would not be getting the amount of spins that they are getting with below average vocals and sometimes songs.

Gretchen and Toby are different cases altogether. I agree about this song though... I don't really like it.

This isn't horrible (Krystal can sing well), but neither of his two Greatest Hits singles compare to what he's been putting out lately. In fact this and "Stays in Mexico" are the worst songs on the Greatest Hits CD.

Krystal's voice isn't that bad, but they could have picked a better song to sing together.
Is Toby trying to soften his image by releasing this song???

I hated this song. His daughter has a decent voice, but they chose #1. a song dedicated to 6 year olds. #2, they could've sang in harmony. Toby was like 2 seconds behind his daughter, adn I didn't like this part. I hope it has a chart run like this:
| <----20 max | | | | 40 debut |
| <----off chart
my 2 cents, smack

Wow, "Mockingbird" is off to a lazy start! :o
It has slipped out of the Greatest Gainers list and now is merely inching its way onto the chart.
Of course this is probably just a Terri Clark, and is just getting adjusted for take-off. Or is it?
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

I still haven't heard the studio version, but I really didn't like it based on the CMA performance. I'm glad that it's not rocketing up the charts, but unfortunately I think we'll see a +500 bullet in a couple of weeks.

FOUR weeks on the charts @ R&R, and it's still stuck at #31 despite reaching 'Breaker' status this week---airplay on 60% of R&Rs reporters.
Thirteen stations added it, but only ninety-one more spins.
This is NOT looking good at all!!!!

This is NOT looking good at all!!!! As much as I hate to say it, we may have another "Rock You Baby" on our hands. This time, he can't use the excuse of pulling this for a more obvious hit single.

Toby was supposed to be Billy on Shania's "Party For Two". But I think she would have been great on this song with Toby, although I'm sure he enjoyed making this record with his daughter.

I wonder if Shania would have even needed Mark McGrath if Toby would had done this. Sure, Toby's a country-only artist, but his albums and concerts sell really well - quite comparable to several Pop artists.
I would say "no" - just look at Nelly using Tim McGraw on his smash hit.

I will admit I'm not a Toby fan, but this is basically UNLISTENABLE..... The only redeeming thing it has going for it is that it's about the only song he's released in a LONG time that doesn't somehow involving drinking and/or a soldier (no offense)

The Callout America stats for Mockingbird are abysmal... While newer songs often take awhile to rise on the Callout chart, this song has beeng getting really bad numbers in the Dislike/Strong Dislike categories. Here's this weeks Callout America chart... home.earthlink.net/~oceanblue831/shedaisy/CalloutAmerica2004Detail-Trend-12-14-04.pdfIt did manage to climb out of the very bottom ranking this week, though. Montgomery Gentry's "Gone" and Miranda Lambert's "Me and Charlie Talking" are ranked below Mockingbird.

This song is undoubtedlya stiff; it's been on the charts for FIVE weeks, and isn't even close to the top 10, which is where you'd expect a song by TK to be, especially considering how much faster the charts have become since R&R & BB reduced their panels in October of 2003.

Well, it looks like Toby and Dreamworks continued their cocky attitude of "radio will play anything Toby no matter how horrible it is" with this song.
BUT radio got smart and realized just how bad this song is. This song is sinking like a rock, it is down to #30 this week from #24 on Mediabase, with a loss of -363. Yikes.
I think we're starting to see the shrinkage of Toby's always constant presence with Tim McGraw finally taking over. It's been a long time comin!

Does anybody remember what was TK's last single (excluding 'Rock You Baby', which his label stopped promoting) to miss the top ten?
This song is just gruesome, to put it mildly?????

Toby becomes another artist to record 3 songs on a GH and only have two of them released.

"When Love Fades" peaked at #44 on Billboard in 1999. Prior to RYB, his last song to make the Top 40 and miss the Top 10 was "Getcha Some", which stopped at #18 on Billboard.

He certainly won't be the #1 singles artist of 2005 either; Tim & Kenny are WAY ahead of him, and I'm almost certain the Keith Urban is as well, or will be very shortly.

I'm a big Toby fan, but I'll have to agree with you on this one. I think he's in a small chart lull right now. This week is the first time in 5 years where there's no Toby song in my personal Top 30, and a couple weeks from now may be the first time since 2000 without a Toby song in Billboard's Top 40.

Tim hasn't missed the top 10 in several years, and he's working on a streak of 22 straight top ten singles, with 18 # ones since 'It's Your Love'.
I don't remember the last time Kenny missed the top ten either.

Kenny missed top 10 w/ she thinks my tractor's sexy (11 on BB)...and his re-release of the tin man, which peaked the 2nd time around about 20 or so. Tim hasn't missed the top 10 in several years, and he's working on a streak of 22 straight top ten singles, with 18 # ones since 'It's Your Love'. I don't remember the last time Kenny missed the top ten either.

a couple weeks from now may be the first time since 2000 without a Toby song in Billboard's Top 40. I think his top 40 streak is safe -- the impressions needed to reach the top 40 these days are few enough that I think the new song will debut in the 40 just as Mockery falls out.

Oops--that should be 17 charttoppers for Tim McGraw, starting with 'IYL', since 1997.
