I remember Mediabase taking a break of about 5 to 6 days in past years.

I remember Mediabase taking a break of about 5 to 6 days in past years. Even though Christmas is on Saturday?? Wouldn't that mean a delay in the R&R charts?

Don't they freeze the charts for like 2-3 weeks around the holidays?

Radio and Records takes a two week break, normally making 50 charts a year. During the first break week the year-end charts are released. You can also look at Billboard's Top 20 for free every week (Billboard doesn't take a break).

Today's issue of R&R (dated 12-16) is their final issue of the year with charts in it.
R&R will not publish next week, but th y will publish an issue dated 12-31 which will NOT have any charts in it.
The charts will return in the first issue of R&R for 2005, which will hit the newsstands (at least here in Los Angeles) on 1-6-05, & dated 1-7-05

No, Mediabase, does NOT freeze; they keep counting airplay, right through the holidays. Until this year, R&Rs 'chart year' would begin with the issue which comes out on Thanksgiving Day, and their 'chart year' would begin with Mediabase's spin counts starting at 12:01 AM (EST) on the Sunday before Thanksgiving.
For some reason, R&R' s'chart year' for 2004 ended one week later than usual, with the issue dated 12-5-04, which would have used Mediabase's spin counts up until midnight on the Thursday AFTER Thanksgiving.
I don't have a problem with a December-to-December 'chart year'; I'm just mystified as to why their 2004 'chart year' ran one week longer than usual.
If you went to (www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/allaccess), clicked on 'Year-To-Date Results', and then clicked on 'Country' (or whichever format you were interested in), you would have found that 'When The Sun Goes Down' would have been #1 for the year, instead of 'Remember When'.
But since both trades and most of the entertainment conglomerates shut down during the final 10-14 days of the year, I don't have a problem with their chart years being structured as they are.

My pleasure!!
I've also read in that year-end issue of R&R that Shania's 'Up' CD hit the TEN million sales mark, and that Kenny Chesney's 'When The Sun Goes Down' hit he 4,000,000 sales mark, and finished at #3 in sales for the year overall, and #1 among country CDs.
