Hi, all! I know that this subject is not directly connected to radio or charts, but I would just like to put in my two cents worth on it anyway. I'm a musician myself, so I am well aware of what kind of impact illegal file-sharing and unauthorized copying has had on CD sales. (Although, not at all entirely negative. Quite often, file-sharing and copying will introduce your music to new listeners and thus promote you as opposed to just causing you to lose money.) The other day, I bought Keith Urban's "Be Here" CD, a copy-controlled release. Which apparently also means that it won't play on my computer, and therefore not on my iPod either. As a consumer, I feel a bit cheated. I was not intending to copy the disc to give to all my friends, but should I not be able to listen to it myself through whichever medium I choose? I honestly don't think making CDs copy-controlled will increase sales. It could just end up backfiring, putting people off and keeping them from spending their money on music. Does anyone else have any thoughts on this subject? Happy New Year to you all! Ann-Marita. www.annmarita.com
